12 Days of Holiday Makeup Ideas 12 Days of Holiday Makeup Ideas 12 Days of Holiday Makeup Ideas

It’s the most wonderful time of year—and that means it’s the perfect time to start thinking about the holiday makeup looks you want to rock this season. While you may only have one or two soirees planned, it never hurts to go above and beyond and wear a full festive face of makeup. Since we’re makeup lovers (and we have a feeling you are, too), we decided to get creative and think of a way to embrace the holiday theme of 12. And thus, instead of an advent calendar, we’re sharing 12 different holiday makeup ideas—so you can try a different one each day! Stock your makeup bag with the goods—think eye shadow, lipstick, and foundation—then get started!

Holiday Makeup Idea #1: Red-Lipped (Not Red-Nosed!) Beauty Babe

Red lipstick is known for being an attention-grabber. While you can wear red lipstick any time of year, it looks especially perfect when used to tie a holiday makeup look together.

What you’ll need:

L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Matte Lipstick in Devil’s Matte-vocate Red

Micellar Water

Concealer

Angled lip brush

Get the look by following these simple steps:

Step 1: Fill in your lips. Pop the top off your pretty matte red lipstick and align the tip with your cupid’s bow, working your way out to the corners.

Step 2: Clean up the edges. Let’s be real, lipstick isn’t always easy to apply. If you got a bit outside the lines, use a micellar water-soaked cotton swab to touch up the edges.

Step 3: Make your pout pop. To finish your holiday makeup look, dab some concealer onto the back of your hand and use an angled lip brush to pick it up to hide the edges of your lips. While micellar water can help make sure there’s no lipstick outside the edges, the tiniest touch of concealer can help create the perfect glow that’ll allow your red lips to really stand out.

Holiday Makeup Idea #2: Merry, Matte, and Maroon

Instead of a charcoal smoky eye, try having some fun with a more festive palette. We especially love how matte maroon eye shadow colors work to create a very merry finish to an otherwise traditional makeup look.

What you’ll need:

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro Matte Lock Makeup Primer

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro Matte Foundation

L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadow in Violet Beaute

L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadow in Mix and Matte

L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadow in Matte It Up

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Last Waterproof Pencil Eyeliner in Black

L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara

Get the look by following these simple steps:

Step 1: Prime your complexion. Squeeze out a dime-sized amount of primer and apply it evenly from forehead to chin.

Step 2: Follow it up with foundation. Next, squeeze some of your foundation onto a makeup blender and stipple it onto your skin for an even complexion.

Step 3: Master your maroon eye makeup look. Now, for the main event of your maroon holiday makeup look. Dab a little primer onto your lids and use a fluffy eye shadow brush to swipe on some of Matte It Up eye shadow onto your lids. By starting with the middle color, you’ll give your lighter and darker colors something to blend into to help prevent the chance of a muddied lid. After you’ve covered your lid, apply some of Violet Beauty into your crease, making sure to move in small circular motions for a natural-looking fade as opposed to a harsh line of color. Then, highlight your lids with a quick sweep of Mix and Matte along your brow bone, inner corner, and center of your lid just above your lash line.

Step 4: Apply eyeliner and mascara. Now that your statement eye looks perfectly blended, it’s time to trace on a thin line of eyeliner. Since this shadowed holiday makeup look speaks enough for itself, instead of creating a crisp liquid cat eye, opt for a creamy line of just enough black eyeliner to define your eyes. Top it off with mascara.

Step 5: Don’t forget your lips. No holiday makeup look is complete without a little lipstick. Whether you opt to stick with the maroon color scheme and don a berry-hued matte lipstick or go subtler with a nude lipstick, you’re look to look picture perfect for your family holiday portrait!

Holiday Makeup Idea #3: Gilded and Glowing

There’s nothing like a golden glow to capture the holiday spirit. Instead of going all gold, follow this quick makeup tutorial for the perfect amount of gilded and glowing to catch stares for all the right reasons.

What you’ll need:

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro Glow Lock Makeup Primer

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro Glow Foundation

Makeup blender

Highlighter

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Paints Metallic Eye Shadow in Brass Knuckles

Mascara

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Liquid Lipstick in Deeply Disturbed

Get the look by following these simple steps:

Step 1: Prime your face. To help ensure that your glowing complexion lasts through all the night’s festivities, it’s best to start things off with a radiant-finish primer.

Step 2: Perfect your complexion. Next, squeeze some of your foundation onto a makeup blender and stipple it onto your skin.

Step 3: Add your glow. Now that your skin looks gorgeous, let’s take it a step further with just enough highlighter in all the right places. To get the look, use a fluffy angled face brush to dust your favorite powder highlighter along your cheekbones, brow bones, the tip of your nose, and the inner corners of your eyes.

Step 4: Create a golden eye. Instead of blending multiple shades meticulously, simply dust on a layer of a golden eye shadow shade just beyond your crease. If you’re feeling extra festive, go for the under-eye glow, too. Whichever you choose, just be sure to top it off with mascara.

Step 5: Seal it with a kiss. As much as we love gold, gold lips would probably be a little much with bright gold lids. To create a little contrast, we love the idea of an oxblood pout. To get the look, use a liquid lipstick and follow the contours of your lips for a party-ready holiday makeup look.

Holiday Makeup Idea #4: Bushy Brows and a Bold Lip

If you love keeping your face simple and natural-looking but want to spruce up a bit for the holidays, it’s time to style your brows.

What you’ll need:

L’Oréal Paris Brow Stylist Boost & Set Mascara

L’Oréal Paris Brow Stylist Brow Raiser Highlighter Duo

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Liquid Lipstick in Stirred

Concealer

Get the look by following these simple steps:

Step 1: Style your brows first. After you’ve completed your face makeup, it’s time to define your brows. Instead of super-sculpted brow, use a brow mascara to fluff them up just enough while following your natural shape. To really make them pop, trace them using a dual-end highlighting crayon. Just be sure to blend!

Step 2: Follow with your lips. Go bold or go home! In this case, we love a deep red liquid lipstick.

Holiday Makeup Idea #5: Cheery and Contoured

If you already know what you want to do with your eyes and lips, take our word and try this foundation technique—it pairs well with anything!

What you’ll need:

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro Matte Foundation

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Blend Artist Foundation Blender

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Total Cover Concealing and Contour Kit

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Blend Artist Concealer Blender

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Blend Artist Contour Blender

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Sweep & Lock Loose Setting Face Powder

Get the look by following these simple steps:

Step 1: Apply foundation. After applying facial moisturizer and primer, blend some matte foundation onto your skin using a makeup blender.

Step 2: Conceal your under-eye area. Even if you don’t have dark circles, applying some of the lightest concealer from a concealer palette can help brighten the appearance of your skin. For an added picture-perfect touch, blend this same color on the tip of your nose, center of your chin, and forehead. Use a makeup blender and blend, blend, blend!

Step 3: Contour! Next, use the darker shade in your concealer palette to chisel your cheekbones and shade the outer edge or your forehead and bridge of your nose. This darker color can help create the idea of shadows. Use a contouring makeup blender to apply concealer.

Step 4: Set your holiday makeup look. Now that your makeup is done, set your look by applying a face powder with a fluffy face brush.

Holiday Makeup Idea #6: Snow Glow

Ask any makeup artist for the key to a perfectly done-up complexion and they’ll likely say it’s all about gorgeous glowing skin beneath it all. So, whether you want to rock a glowing no-makeup, makeup look or pair this snow glow with your favorite statement eye, you’re sure to fall in love with this makeup technique.

What you’ll need:

L’Oréal Paris True Match™ Lumi Glowtion Natural Glow Enhancer

L’Oréal Paris True Match™ Lumi Glow Amour Glow Boosting Drops

L’Oréal Paris True Match™ Lumi Shimmerista Highlighting Powder

L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Shine Lipstick in Glossy Fawn

Get the look by following these simple steps:

Step 1: First up, face. Add a glow-boosting drop to a glow-enhancing lotion and massage it onto your face.

Step 2: Next, cheekbones. Your skin looks amazing, but let’s take it a step further. For an added snow glow effect, swipe some shimmery powder across your cheekbones, brow bones, tip of your nose, and cupid’s bow.

Step 3: Finish your look with lipstick. Top off your glowing skin with a shiny, neutral lipstick that looks positively kissable.

Holiday Makeup Idea #7: Merry, Merry Lots of Berry

Red is always a great option for the holidays, but why not get a little creative? After you try this ombré lip, you might just have a new favorite holiday lip look.

What you’ll need:

L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Shine Lipstick in Splendid Blackberry

L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Shine Lipstick in Lacquered Strawberry

Lip brush

Get the look by following these simple steps:

Step 1: Trace the outer edges of your lips. To start your ombré lip, begin by tracing the outer half of your lips with Splendid Blackberry.

Step 2: Fill in the center of your lips. To create the gorgeous contrast of an ombré lip, apply Lacquered Strawberry to the center of your pout.

Step 3: Blend. Any good ombré lip is blended so seamlessly that you can’t decipher where the color transition begins. Instead of blotting your lips and creating one entirely new hue, opt for a lip brush to gently blend the line between the two hues for a perfect fade.

Holiday Makeup Idea #8: Pass the Pumpkin and Cranberry, Please

Craving a colorfully festive holiday makeup look? It’s time to trade out your classic red lip and silver smoky eye for this pumpkin and cranberry combo.

What you’ll need:

L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadow in Sunset Seine

L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadow in Matte-ison Avenue

L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadow in Matte Chill

Eyeliner

Mascara

L’Oréal Paris Colour Infallible Paints /Lips Metallic in Galactic Foil

Get the look by following these simple steps:

Step 1: Create a pumpkin contoured eye. Use light, medium, and dark eye shadows to contour your lids. To do so, apply your medium eye shadow across your entire lid, followed by the darker eye shadow blended into your crease and the lightest eye shadow along your cheekbones, center lids, and inner corners. After applying your eye shadows, take an extra minute to expertly blend your colors for a seamless fade.

Step 2: Apply eyeliner and mascara. For added allure, trace your eyes with your favorite eyeliner and a few coats of mascara.

Step 3: Rock metallic lipstick. To complete your pumpkin and cranberry holiday makeup look, layer on a shimmering cranberry lipstick to perfectly contrast your matte lids.

Holiday Makeup Idea #9: Silver Belles

If you loved the gilded and glowing idea but find yourself more on the cooler side, try this silver holiday makeup look instead. The best part? It’s super-easy!

What you’ll need:

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Paints Metallic Eyeshadow in Aluminum Foil

Eyeliner

Mascara

Get the look by following these simple steps:

Step 1: Create your silver lids. For a shimmering eye makeup look perfect for everything from Christmas and Hanukkah to New Year’s Eve, prime your lids and dust on some metallic silver eye shadow.

Step 2: Outline your eyes. Silver is gorgeous on its own, but it looks especially pretty with a thin, sharp line of black liquid eyeliner.

Step 3: Fluff up your lashes. One, two, three swipes of mascara—you choose!

Holiday Makeup Idea #10: Mistletoe-Ready Matte Pout

With mistletoe and sneak-attack smooches around every corner, you want to make sure you have a holiday lip look that will last. Luckily, it’s as simple as finding the right lipstick formula.

What you’ll need:

Matte lipstick

Get the look by following these simple steps:

This one’s easy as pie. Simply buff your lips, apply your favorite festive matte lipstick, and forget about having to worry about touch-ups. Phew!

Holiday Makeup Idea #11: Classic Red Lips and Black Wing Tips

OK, let’s be honest: There will always be a place for a classic holiday makeup look. If you want to keep it Hollywood chic, you can’t go wrong with wing tips and red lips.

What you’ll need:

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Paints Eyeliner in Black Party

L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Shine Lipstick in Enamel Red

Get the look by following these simple steps:

Step 1: Create crisp wings. After completing your face makeup and eye makeup, it’s time to top it off with perfectly sharp wing tips. To get the look, use a black liquid eyeliner. Simply start at your inner corner and work your way out just beyond the outer corner of your eye. If it’s not as pointed as you’d like, you can use a little micellar water to clean things up a bit.

Step 2: And finish with defined lips. Instead of going with a traditional matte lipstick, have a little fun and embrace the wet makeup trend with a glossy lipstick.

Holiday Makeup Idea #12: Holly, Jolly, and Totally Done Up

Not sure which holiday makeup look to pick? Why not choose a combination of any of the aforementioned looks? Glowing skin paired with wing tips and red lips? You can’t go wrong. Or maybe you want to contour like a pro and top it off with gold lids. Whatever you choose, we wish you the happiest of holidays (and beauty routines!).
