It’s the most wonderful time of year—and that means it’s the perfect time to start thinking about the holiday makeup looks you want to rock this season. While you may only have one or two soirees planned, it never hurts to go above and beyond and wear a full festive face of makeup in the days leading up to your big celebration. Since we’re makeup lovers (and we have a feeling you are, too), we decided to get creative and think of a way to embrace the holiday theme of 12. And thus, instead of an advent calendar, we’re sharing 12 different holiday makeup ideas—so you can try a different one each day! Stock your makeup bag with the goods—think eye shadow, lipstick, and foundation—then get started!
Red lipstick is known for being an attention-grabber. While you can wear red lipstick any time of year, it looks especially perfect when used to tie a holiday makeup look together.
What you’ll need:
L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Matte Lipstick in Devil’s Matte-vocate Red
Angled lip brush
Get the look by following these simple steps:
Pop the top off your pretty matte red lipstick and align the tip with your cupid’s bow, working your way out to the corners.
Let’s be real, lipstick isn’t always easy to apply. If you go a bit outside the lines, use a micellar water-soaked cotton swab for touch-ups.
To finish your holiday makeup look, dab some concealer onto the back of your hand and use an angled lip brush to apply it around the edges of your lips. While micellar water can help make sure there’s no lipstick where it shouldn't be, the tiniest touch of concealer can help create the perfect glow that’ll allow your red lips to really stand out.
Instead of a charcoal smoky eye, try having some fun with a more festive palette. We especially love how matte maroon eye shadow colors work to give a very merry finish to an otherwise traditional makeup look.

Maroon or nude lipstick
Squeeze out a dime-sized amount of makeup primer and apply it evenly from forehead to chin.
Next, put some of your foundation onto a makeup blender and stipple it onto your skin for an even complexion.
Now, for the main event of your maroon holiday makeup look. Dab a little primer onto your lids and use a fluffy eye shadow brush to apply a nude shadow over top. After you’ve covered your lid, apply your maroon shadow in your crease, making sure to blend the shadow with small circular motions for a natural-looking fade as opposed to a harsh line of color. Then, highlight your lids with a quick sweep of your lightest shadow, placing the color along your brow bone, around your inner corner, and on the center of your lid, just above your lash line.
Now that your statement eye looks perfectly blended, it’s time to trace a thin line of eyeliner along your lash line. Since your maroon makeup look speaks enough for itself, instead of creating a crisp liquid cat eye, opt for a creamy line of just enough black eyeliner to define your eyes. Top it off with a few coats of mascara and your eyes are all set.
No holiday makeup look is complete without a little lipstick. Whether you opt to stick with the maroon color scheme and do a berry-hued matte lipstick or go subtler with a nude lipstick, you’re going to look picture perfect for your family holiday portrait!
There’s nothing like a golden glow to capture the holiday spirit. Instead of going all gold, follow this quick makeup tutorial for the perfect amount of gilded and glowing and you’ll be sure to catch stares for all the right reasons.

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Crushed Foils Metallic Eye Shadow in Gilded Gold
L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Liquid Lipstick in Deeply Disturbed
To help ensure that your glowing complexion lasts through all the night’s festivities, it’s best to start things off with a radiant finish primer.
Next, squeeze some of your foundation onto a makeup blender and stipple it onto your skin.
Now that your skin looks gorgeous, let’s take it a step further with just enough highlighter in all the right places. To get the look, use a fluffy angled face brush to dust your favorite powder highlighter along your cheekbones, brow bones, the tip of your nose, and the inner corners of your eyes.
Instead of blending multiple shades meticulously, simply dust on a layer of a golden eye shadow shade just beyond your crease. If you’re feeling extra festive, go for the under-eye glow, too. Whichever option you choose, just be sure to top it off with mascara.
As much as we love gold, gold lips would probably be a little much with bright gold lids. To create a little contrast, we love the idea of an oxblood pout. To get the look, use a liquid lipstick and follow the contours of your lips.
If you love keeping your face simple and natural-looking but want to spruce things up a bit for the holidays, it’s time to style your brows.

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Liquid Lipstick in Stirred
After you’ve completed your normal face makeup, it’s time to define your brows. Instead of super-sculpted brow, use a brow gel to fluff them up just enough while following your natural shape and filling in any sparse areas. To really make them pop, trace them using a dual-ended highlighting crayon. Just be sure to blend!
Go bold or go home! In this case, we love a deep red liquid lipstick for painting your pout.
If you already know what you want to do with your eyes and lips, trust us and try this foundation technique—it pairs well with anything!

Fluffy face brush
After applying facial moisturizer and primer, blend matte foundation onto your skin using a makeup blender.
Even if you don’t have dark circles, applying some of the lightest concealer from a concealer palette can help brighten the appearance of your skin. For an added picture-perfect touch, apply this same color to the tip of your nose, center of your chin, and forehead. Don’t rush, take your time and use a makeup blender to blend, blend, blend until all harsh lines are gone.
Next, use a darker shade from your concealer palette to chisel your cheekbones and shade the outer edges or your forehead and bridge of your nose. This darker color can help create the appearance of shadows for a flattering, sculpted effect.
Now that your makeup is done, set your look by applying a face powder with a fluffy face brush.
Ask any makeup artist for the key to a perfectly done-up complexion and they’ll likely say it’s all about having gorgeous glowing skin beneath it all. So, whether you want to rock a glowing no-makeup, makeup look or pair this snow glow look with your favorite statement eye, you’re sure to fall in love with this makeup technique.

Add a few glow-boosting drops to a glow-enhancing lotion and massage it onto your face.
Your skin looks amazing, but let’s take it a step further. For an added snow glow effect, swipe some shimmery powder across your cheekbones, brow bones, tip of your nose, and cupid’s bow.
Top off your glowing skin with a shiny, neutral lipstick that looks positively kissable.
Red is always a great option for the holidays, but why not get a little creative? After you try this ombré lip, you might just have a new favorite holiday lip look.
L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Shine Lipstick in Splendid Blackberry
L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Shine Lipstick in Lacquered Strawberry
To start your ombré lip, begin by tracing the outer half of your lips with your purple lipstick.
To create the gorgeous contrast of an ombré lip, apply your pink shade on the center of your pout.
Any good ombré lip is blended so seamlessly that you can’t decipher where the color transition begins. Instead of blotting your lips and creating one entirely new hue, opt for a lip brush to gently blend the line between the two hues, creating a perfect fade.
Craving a colorfully festive holiday makeup look? It’s time to trade out your classic red lip and silver smoky eye for this pumpkin and cranberry combo.

Use light, medium, and dark eye shadows to contour your lids. To do so, apply your medium eye shadow across your entire lid, followed by the darker eye shadow blended in your crease, and the lightest eye shadow placed on the center of your lid and around your inner corner. After applying your eye shadows, take an extra minute to expertly blend your colors.
For added allure, trace your eyes with your favorite eyeliner and a few coats of mascara.
To complete your pumpkin and cranberry makeup look, layer on a shimmering cranberry lipstick to perfectly contrast your matte lids.
If you loved the gilded and glowing idea but find yourself preferring cooler colors, try this silver holiday makeup look instead. The best part? It’s super easy!
L’Oréal Paris Infallible Paints Metallic Eyeshadow in Aluminum Foil
For a shimmering eye makeup look perfect for any holiday, prime your lids and dust on a metallic silver eye shadow.
Silver is gorgeous on its own, but it looks especially pretty with a thin, sharp line of black liquid eyeliner.
One, two, or three swipes of mascara—you choose!
With mistletoe and sneak-attack smooches around every corner, you want to make sure you have a holiday lip look that will last. Luckily, it’s as simple as finding the right lipstick formula.
This one’s easy as pie. Simply buff your lips, apply your favorite festive, long-lasting matte lipstick, and forget about having to worry about touch-ups. Phew!
OK, let’s be honest: There will always be a place for a classic holiday makeup look. If you want to keep it Hollywood chic, you can’t go wrong with wing tips and red lips.
L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Liquid Eyeliner in Black
L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Shine Lipstick in Enamel Red
After completing your face makeup and eye makeup, it’s time to top it off with perfectly sharp wing tips. To get the look, use a black liquid eyeliner. Simply start at your inner corner and work your way out just beyond the outer corner of your eye. If your wings aren't as pointed as you’d like, you can use a little micellar water to clean things up a bit.
Instead of going with a traditional matte lipstick, have a little fun and embrace the glossy makeup trend with a high-shine lipstick.
Not sure which holiday makeup look to pick? Why not choose a combination of any of the aforementioned looks? Glowing skin paired with wing tips and red lips? You can’t go wrong. Or maybe you want to contour like a pro and top it off with gold lids. Whatever you choose, we wish you the happiest of holidays (and beauty routines!).
