An Older Product That Works

Over a decade ago, Lancôme introduced Résolution D-Contraxol with Boswellia serrata (Indian frankincense) extract and manganese. These ingredients were intended to mimic Botox to a lesser degree by supressing microcontractions in the skin which cause wrinkles. A few months later, L'Oréal (parent company of Lancôme) marketed their version called Wrinkle De-Crease (Décontract'Rides in France). It's still made with the same formulation, but now called Collagen Moisture Filler. As an older product, it's very inexpensive. It's great stuff, moisturizing, never heavy. One note: I use it as a night cream, as it contains no sunscreen.

I bought this cream about a month ago and have been using it night and day. I feel this cream is a bit towards sticky side. Smells mild which is good. I am a loreal person, and was a bit disappointed after using this particular product. Since it's just a month, not sure yet if it does what it claims.

I have extremely sensitive skin and eyes, so am very limited with products. The great moisturizers, I am using wasn’t enough. Added this and what a difference! Skin is so much smoother and hydrated. Results even lasted more than 24 hours. Please don’t stop making.

I’ve never used this before, even the previous formula. My face completely broke out in red rash, when I woke up, my eyes were almost swollen shut. People kept asking me if I was sick. Now, after day three of not using it, my skin is peeling off my face. I can’t even put makeup over it because of the dry skin is flaking into the foundation. Maybe it’s an allergy but what am I allergic to? Collagen? Isn’t that a natural?

Horrible "new formula" cheap smell and texture!

Smell is really unpleasant! Why? 😦 L'Oreal changed my collagen cream to something like this?! I loved the previous version of this moisturizer, it was great really! Now it is horrible, it is like a dollar store cream! It smells terrible, texture is also weird and it burns the skin. I am devastated because I am unable to purchase my favorite cream, that I have used for years and it was the best! It was truly the only cream that I loved so much, it was my sleeping cream, now I don't know how to find replacement, because there was nothing even close.... L'Oreal please consider changing back to what was working good for years, and smell amazing!

New formula sucks

Just bought this product thinking it was going to be the same cream I have been using for multiple years now but noticed big differences. The strong smell I noticed when I opened it and realized that it is not the same. The feeling the cream gave my skin after using it felt different and did not leave my skin feeling clean or moisturized. The results of using this cream have been making my skin break out and dry, which the old formula never did. Loreal messed up with changing this product with the new formula and after reading multiple reviews, I am sure me and plenty of more people will not be buying this anymore. It sucks that I have to find a new product but its better than using this horrible cream.

I used this product for 20 years and loved it until you changed the formula. The new formula is awful especially the smell. I totally agree with all of the recent reviews about the new formula. Why mess with a great product ? Not sure why corporations want to change something that is good. I hope someone in charge is reading all of these comments and listens to your loyal, long term customers. Bring back the old formula. Especially the smell. It is just awful now.

This new formula is awful. It’s sticky, thick and the smell is horrible even in the unscented variety. I was a faithful user of the old cream and now have to go on a hunt for a new collagen cream.

Whomever reformulated this should be fired

I have been a loyal user of this product for 20 years! I've told everyone that I use it and recommended it to so many people. I've always said it's the reason that I still look like I'm in my 40s even though I'm almost 60. But whatever you've done to this new formula is terrible! All of the other reviews that say this are correct. The scent is disgusting — smells like watermelon candy. And the formulation is not nearly as creamy as it used to be as others have said it now causes skin irritation where previously it sooth. I can only think that some "genius "within the organization decided to use cheaper ingredients and think we all wouldn't notice. It's really too bad that you took a product that was so excellent And had so many benefits for my skin and clearly had a huge following and you ruined it.

Horrible decision L’Oréal

Bought the “new formula” it caused so much irritation ( red rash, welts and massive burning) after just one application. From reading other reviews it’s a pretty common complaint. The scent and texture is awful too. Why would they change a product that was perfect for so many loyal customers? If the change was to save money or should I say make more money why not just raise the price of the original? I’m sure your loyal customers would much rather spend a little more versus having to find a new product and losing a lot of business.

I agree with many others here who have used this cream for many years. The previous cream was so cushiony on my skin and made it so soft. I used it about 5 minutes ago, and my face feels sticky. I don’t care for the new scent either.

ASTONISHING results

I'm a sixty three year old male. I look pretty good for my age due to a nutrient dense diet, prioritizing sleep and regular, light exercise. I was EXTREMELY impressed with the results the first time I used it. My skin has an overall improved appearance. It absolutely seems healthier, younger and just fresher!!! Mature skin can really look dreadful and old on overcast days. This superb cream really is a "secret weapon" for those conditions... I also shared this cream with a male relative in his seventies who is an executive and still working who was thrilled with the results! This dense cream fully absorbed quickly and does not produce shininess.

New formula is terrible - used to be perfection

I have been a loyal fan of this product for years, but yesterday I purchased a new jar and the smell is overwhelmingly awful and it feels different too. The previously formula was perfect - smelled divine, felt luxurious and worked beautifully….why did it change? I will be disposing of the full jar…so disappointed!

Great first impression but then allergic?

The first couple of times I used this I loved it...I used it only at night and my skin felt hydrated, smooth and bouncy the next day. But then I woke up with my eyelids so swollen they were almost shut, and the rest of my skin was red and blotchy. I'm not sure what happened but clearly my skin doesn't love it. Too bad because it seemed like a great product. I tried it again last night after waiting a week just to make sure it wasn't something I ate, or something else I used...same results.

This used to be the best moisturizer I’ve ever had. Better than any high end stuff. But the new formula is horrible! The smell, the texture and it’s not even hydrating anymore! It is cheap feeling. I could go on. L’Oréal please change the formula back to what it was!

Used to be a good product but no longer

This was a great product but the most recent jar purchased is different and not in a good way. First of all the scent is atrocious and overwhelming, it used to be pleasant and subtle. The consistency isn't as thick as before and is now more gel like. It is also slightly irritating and stings my face, it never used to do that. Why change a stellar product and make it worse? Now I'm on the hunt for a new daily moisturizer for a cold,dry climate.

Creamy Collagen, YES!

I have been using this product for a little over two years and I LOVE IT! It goes on smooth and has a nice fragrance to it, Mostly though it does what it says it does. It provides a ton of moisture that does not leave a greasy or flaky residue. It hydrates well and it helps fill in dry, dull looking areas on the face. It works great alone because I've noticed if applied with other products like SPF lotions or serums or a skin protectant, it tends to make cracks in the moisture barrier. However, applying makeup foundation over it seems to work pretty good. Overall, a really good product. The smell is really nice too. Very soft and subtle.

I've been using this product for years and loved it and the scent. I absolutely can't stand the new product. The smell is horrible, and the product doesn't moisturize like the original did. I lucked out and found an original on the shelf of my local store, but I don't know what I'll switch to when that's gone. Please consider bringing back the original.

I have lips that split and crack if I don’t exfoliate them daily and use a lip mask at night, and this is the best thing I’ve ever put on my lips, very plumping and moisturizing! Have you considered making a lip treatment with a similar formula?

The strong smell I noticed when I opened it and realized that it is not the same. I've told everyone that I use it and recommended it to so many people. I've always said it's the reason that I still look like I'm in my 40s even though I'm almost 60. But whatever you've done to this new formula is terrible! All of the other reviews that say this are correct. The scent is disgusting — smells like watermelon candy. And the formulation is not nearly as creamy as it used to be as others have said it now causes skin irritation where previously it sooth. I can only think that some "genius "within the organization decided to use cheaper ingredients and think we all wouldn't notice. From reading other reviews it’s a pretty common complaint. The scent and texture is awful too. Why would they change a product that was perfect for so many loyal customers? If the change was to save money or should I say make more money why not just raise the price of the original? I’m sure your loyal customers would much rather spend a little more versus having to find a new product and losing a lot of business.

I look pretty good for my age due to a nutrient dense diet, prioritizing sleep and regular, light exercise. I was EXTREMELY impressed with the results the first time I used it. My skin has an overall improved appearance. It absolutely seems healthier, younger and just fresher!!! Mature skin can really look dreadful and old on overcast days. This superb cream really is a "secret weapon" for those conditions... I also shared this cream with a male relative in his seventies who is an executive and still working who was thrilled with the results! This dense cream fully absorbed quickly and does not produce shininess.

The first couple of times I used this I loved it...I used it only at night and my skin felt hydrated, smooth and bouncy the next day. But then I woke up with my eyelids so swollen they were almost shut, and the rest of my skin was red and blotchy. I'm not sure what happened but clearly my skin doesn't love it. Too bad because it seemed like a great product. I tried it again last night after waiting a week just to make sure it wasn't something I ate, or something else I used...same results.

First of all the scent is atrocious and overwhelming, it used to be pleasant and subtle. The consistency isn't as thick as before and is now more gel like. It is also slightly irritating and stings my face, it never used to do that. Why change a stellar product and make it worse? Now I'm on the hunt for a new daily moisturizer for a cold,dry climate.

It goes on smooth and has a nice fragrance to it, Mostly though it does what it says it does. It provides a ton of moisture that does not leave a greasy or flaky residue. It hydrates well and it helps fill in dry, dull looking areas on the face. It works great alone because I've noticed if applied with other products like SPF lotions or serums or a skin protectant, it tends to make cracks in the moisture barrier. However, applying makeup foundation over it seems to work pretty good. Overall, a really good product. The smell is really nice too. Very soft and subtle.

My skin is dried out within a couple hours instead of lasting all day like it used to. Plus I now smell like watermelon candy. The previous fragrance was pleasant. It appears the reviews were overwhelmingly positive before you decided to “fix” this. I hope you will return to the old formula. This will be the last jar I purchase :(

It's just right to make my skin feel so luxurious and supple. I don't have a lot of existing wrinkles so I am hiding using it more as an anti aging product but I think it can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

I love how it feels super hydrating but doesn't leave your face feeling like it has a bunch of product on it. I love using it before putting on my make up because I feel like it makes a great canvas for my foundation and make up. I don't use a primer or a setting spray and my makeup lasts all day. I have noticed some of the lines on my forehead are smaller. So thats a plus as well! Definitely recommend if you're looking for a great product that doesn't break the bank!

I have lips that split and crack if I don’t exfoliate them daily and use a lip mask at night, and this is the best thing I’ve ever put on my lips, very plumping and moisturizing! Have you considered making a lip treatment with a similar formula?

Just ordered from Amazon, there are no tamper resistance tape/seal on box or on jar, is this normal for L’Oréal Collagen products? I returned the 1st box to Amazon, the box looked as if it as at a sidewalk sale, the jar was not sealed nor the bent up box,
