The Best Advice from Beauty Experts The Best Advice from Beauty Experts The Best Advice from Beauty Experts

When it comes to getting advice in any area, it’s safe to say the tips that hold the most weight are from experts in the field. So, if you’re searching for beauty advice, there’s no better person to turn to than a beauty expert. Well, why not five? To equip you with the best beauty tips there are, we’ve pulled our favorite advice from four beauty experts in the areas of makeup, hair, and skin care. Read on for the best tips straight from the pros.

#1. REFRIGERATE YOUR SKIN CARE PRODUCTS

Have you heard the buzz around mini skincare fridges? Well, it’s more than just a trend! According to Dr. Rocio Rivera, head of scientific communications for L’Oréal Paris, “You can keep your eye cream in the refrigerator for an extra cooling effect.” This skin care tip is the perfect way to take your skin care routine to the next level. Not only are mini skincare fridges seriously adorable, but also keeping your products cool can give them a de-puffing boost—not to mention that the cool formula will feel amazing on your skin. Pop the L’Oréal Paris Age Perfect Hydra Nutrition Manuka Honey Eye Gel into your fridge and put her suggestion to the test!

#2. KEEP YOUR BROWS COOL

When it’s time to fill in your brows, you may be wondering what eyebrow makeup shade you should use. Sir John, celebrity makeup artist and Brand Ambassador for L’Oréal Paris, has some expert eyebrow advice. “You should always veer on the side of a cooler brow. Something that doesn’t look too warm or too red because that never photographs well.” Bring on the cool-toned brow pencils and gels.

#3. DON’T SHY AWAY FROM WIGS

Wigs can be intimidating, sure, but if there’s one thing we’ve learned from Kellon Deryck, L’Oréal Paris expert and Atlanta-based hairstylist, it’s that they’re the perfect way to try out the latest hair color trends. “Wigs are great for versatility,” he explains. “Many women of this millennium love to be able to change their hair color and texture without compromising the integrity of their natural hair.”

#4. APPLY BLUSH WITH A SMILE

When it comes to mastering the perfect blush placement, it all comes down to your facial expression. Before grabbing the L’Oréal Paris Summer Belle Makeup Blush Please!, commit Sir John’s words of advice to memory: "Make a big, cheesy smile with your mouth closed, then deliver the color to wherever you see the most volume in your cheeks.”

#5. SLEEP THE RIGHT AWAY

Believe it or not, your daily habits can have a huge effect on your skin, and that includes how you sleep. More specifically, the position you sleep in can actually play a role in how you age, according to Dr. Rivera. “Sleeping face up prevents the development of some lines that form from pressing your face into a pillow night after night,” she explains.

#6. RINSE WITH LUKEWARM WATER

If you want to keep your hair color to look fresh, it’s best you ditch the hot temperatures in the shower. This is a pro secret to preventing color fading! “Adjust your water temperature to lukewarm or cold when rinsing,” Jonathan Colombini, L’Oréal Paris expert and Los Angeles-based celebrity hairstylist, says. “Hot water lifts the outer cuticle layer, which is one of the most common reasons that color fades.”

Editor’s tip: Washing with lukewarm water is a tip you can apply to your skin care routine, too. Here’s the scoop: Cold vs. Hot Water: What's the Best for Your Skin?

#7. WEAR SPF

Have you ever looked at your favorite celebrity and wondered how they have such flawless skin? According to Sir John, there are certain celebrity skin care habits we all should take note of—one of those being daily sunscreen use! “Those celebs with youthful-looking, beautiful skin can be obsessive when it comes to applying SPF to their faces,” he says. “They are hyper-aware of sunburn and the negative aging effects of the sun.”

#8. YOUR EYEBROWS DON’T HAVE TO BE TWINS

By now, you probably know that your eyebrows aren’t supposed to be twins, rather they should look like sisters. That said, Sir John has his own twist on this popular adage: “As long as they are going to the same party you are in a good place.” Those may just be our new brow words to live by!
