3 Editors Share How They Did Their Makeup to Attend Spring Weddings

It might feel like every season has been wedding season over the last year as weddings were put on pause not that long ago, but this spring there will be even more brides walking down the aisle. And if you’ll be in attendance, then chances are you’re taking advantage of the opportunity to create a gorgeous makeup look perfect for the occasion.

If you’re in need of wedding guest makeup look inspiration, keep reading because three of our editors are sharing how they did their makeup for recent weddings they attended. And perhaps most importantly, they’re sharing what products lasted through happy tears, dance moves and a whole lot of great food.

1. Sophie: Natural, Soft Glam Eye Makeup

As a rule of thumb, less is more. When I have a wedding or black tie event to attend, I prefer keeping my look natural and pairing it with a colorful dress and accessories.

To create this natural eye makeup look, I prepped my eyes with an eye primer (you can use concealer if you’re in a pinch!) to ensure my eyeshadow would stay put for the night. With an eyeshadow brush, I applied the L'Oréal Paris Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadow in Little Beige Dress to my lids for some shimmer. 

 

Then, I used a fluffy brush with a brown eyeshadow — you can use the L'Oréal Paris Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadow in Cafe Au Lait — at the outer corner and creases to add dimension to the look. I finished the eye glam off by lining my upper lipids with the L'Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Last Waterproof, Up to 24HR Pencil Eyeliner in Brown and swiped on a few coats of the L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Noir Balm Washable Mascara onto my lashes.

 

As for the rest of my makeup look, I kept things simple with a bit of bronze and blush on my cheekbones and the L’Oréal Paris Glow Paradise Lip Balm-in-Gloss Pomegranate Extract in Blissful Blush on my lips.

2. Caitlyn: Pastel Pink Makeup

My eyes are my favorite feature, so when there’s an opportunity to exaggerate them, I run with it. One of the best ways to do so, in my opinion, is to put together a dramatic eye makeup look that speaks to the season — in this case, spring. When a family member tied the knot recently, I put together a bold, pink eyeshadow look with natural-looking face makeup. 

 

I started by priming my entire face with the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro Matte Lock Primer. Then, I grabbed the L’Oréal Paris Color Riche Pocket Palette Eyeshadow in Avenue Des Roses and two makeup brushes — an angled precision eyeshadow brush and a medium-sized fluffy one. 

 

I dipped the angled brush into the dark brown shade and dragged the shadow along my lash line from my inner corner to my outer corner in lieu of eyeliner. I repeated this on both sides. Then, I dipped the fluffy brush into the matte pink eyeshadow shade and applied it to my eyelids. Once I blended everything out, I took the shimmery pink eyeshadow and applied it to the center of my eyelids to create a halo-like finish before topping everything off with the L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Original Washable Mascara in Blackest Black. 

 

To achieve a natural, skin-like complexion, I placed a few drops of the L’Oréal Paris True Match Nude Hyaluronic Tinted Serum into my palms and rubbed them together (this warms up the formula). Then, I gently pressed it onto my face for a lightweight veil of coverage. I took a makeup sponge to buff out the serum for an airbrushed finish. Despite having oily skin, I was surprised at how well this sheer, glowy formula lasted throughout the event and didn’t slip or slide off of my skin. 

 

To tie the whole pastel look together and give it a monochrome finish, I swiped the L’Oréal Paris Glow Paradise Balm in Gloss in Feathery Fleur onto my lips. 

3. Alyssa: All About the Glow

In keeping with the latest makeup trends, I’ve been loving a glowy makeup look. And there’s no better time to sport one than during a spring wedding. I typically use special occasions as an opportunity to play up my eyes, but when a friend got married recently, I decided to keep my makeup all about the glow. 

 

I kept my eyes minimal by creating subtle, smokey winged eyeliner with a dark brown eyeshadow and coating my upper lashes with the L'Oréal Paris Bambi Eye Oversized Eye Washable Mascara Instant Volume. I don’t usually have an issue with my top lashes smudging, but my bottom lashes are a different story and admittedly, I’m a crier at weddings. So, I applied a light layer of the L'Oréal Paris Original Waterproof Lengthening Mascara to my lower lashes and my eyes remained smudge-free all night. 

 

To achieve my radiant complexion, I applied the L'Oréal Paris True Match Lumi Glotion Natural Glow Enhancer in Light as a base, and then used the L'Oréal Paris Infallible Blend Artist Foundation Blender to blend just one pump of the L'Oréal Paris Infallible 24 Hour Fresh Wear Foundation, Lightweight onto my skin. By only using one pump, I was able to create a natural-looking, even base that allowed the glow I applied previously to shine through. It got slightly more dewy throughout the evening, but it never broke up or faded which is a win in my book. 

 

I then dusted bronzer onto the perimeter of my face and tapped a drop of the L'Oréal Paris Glow Paradise Lip and Cheek Tint in Eternal Rose to my cheeks using my fingertips. I finished off my look by dabbing the same stain onto my lips and applying a generous layer of the L'Oréal Paris Glow Paradise Lip Balm-in-Gloss Pomegranate Extract in Celestial Blossom to my lips. It gave them a gorgeous luminosity without getting goopy or sticky when it was time to reapply.
