How This Vegan Mascara Worked Wonders on 6 Lash Types

It’s safe to say that a great mascara doesn't fit a singular definition. What one person adores about their favorite formula might be just the thing that someone else dislikes about it. The truth is, how we feel about a mascara depends on many factors 一 like our lash types and personal preferences. However, a mascara with a vegan formula that claims to deliver clean volume for lashes up to seven times their size is tempting regardless of these factors. So, it was only right that seven of our editors with different lash types and preferences put the L’Oréal Paris Noir Balm Washable Mascara to the test. Long, sparse lashes

My must-have quality in a mascara is volume 一 and when I tried this one initially, I noticed that it gave me soft volume and definition, but not the dramatic lashes I’m accustomed to. However, after the tube had been open for a week or two, the formula seemed to thicken up slightly making it more buildable and capable of giving me the voluminous results I crave 一 without being goopy. I also love that in addition to volume and definition, it does a great job at separating the lashes and making them look fuller, which is really important to me since I have some gaps.

There are many things I could live without, but a good volumizing mascara is not one of them. As someone whose lashes lack definition, I need a  lightweight yet full-bodied mascara — this is now a personal favorite! A couple swipes instantly offered my lashes the volume and length I crave. The sleek brush also allowed the mascara to go on smoothly and fully coat each lash — and all of this with no clumps. Its ability to make my top lashes appear much thicker — and a bit longer — than they actually are is reason enough to make it my new everyday mascara.

Mascara is by far one of my favorite beauty products, so I couldn’t wait to try this one out. After swiping on two coats, I was impressed — my lashes looked longer, darker and super defined. The slim plastic bristles mitigate clumps and elongate my lashes. It has a soft, balmy texture, so be sure to set it if you want all day wear in order to avoid smudges and flaking underneath your eyes and set your under-eye area with powder to help prevent transfer.

Long, curled Lashes

I am a falsies type of girl. Recently I forgot to pack my eyelashes and glue for a trip. So, I decided to try out this mascara for a change — and I was impressed! When you’re wearing a mask, your eyes tend to be the star of the show 一 and this Noir Balm mascara did not disappoint in that. The brush gave me a lot of control when applying the product, and it gave my curled lashes both volume and length. I may be rethinking my lash product preference at this point!

My makeup is never complete without a couple swipes of mascara. When I received this in the mail, I couldn’t hide my excitement. I really love the way I get a very soft, everyday look with this product. It did a great job at defining each individual lash. My lashes are naturally curly and it can be difficult to find a product that really separates them. Aftering experimenting with the mascara for a few days, I found that applying a bit of powder in my under eye area and going in with less product on my bottom lashes helped me avoid transfer.

Short, straight Lashes

I’m the kind of person that likes to have a few different mascaras open at one given time 一 each for a different vibe. This one, which is super creamy yet somehow really lightweight, is perfect for daytime. I love how it coats my short, straight lashes and gives them the length I so desperately need plus an ever-so-slight curl that makes me look more awake. I have oily, hooded eyelids, so mascaras tend to smudge above my eyes no matter what. But, because I’m used to having to do midday touch-ups, it didn’t really change my mind 一 I still really enjoy using this mascara. This mascara was no different, but because it felt so hydrating, that wasn’t a deal breaker for me!

Though my lashes are naturally long and full, I’m always looking for products that nourish them. I typically reach for a lash serum, but I can now simplify my routine by just using this mascara instead. The cushiony formula is infused with glycerin and fatty acids which gives it a rich, creamy texture and allows it to gently glide onto each lash. Instead of looking crunchy (you know — like if I touched them they would crumble) throughout the day, my eyelashes look soft and silky, which I really appreciate. Even though I usually go for mascaras that make my lashes look like falsies, this is a nice change on days when I want a more natural look.
