Loreal Paris BMAG Article How To Transform Festival Hair From Day 1 To Day 2 D

The fall music festival season is in full swing—and we couldn’t be more excited. Apart from finally seeing some of your favorite DJs and musicians jam out, there’s something so exciting about picking out everything from your outfit to your hairstyle to your makeup look. The thing is, many festivals span the length of a few days—and some of them including camping without easy access to showers—so it’s important to plan ahead when it comes to your beauty routine.

If you’re someone who tends to experience greasy roots or frizz, festivals, as fun as they are, can be a total buzzkill for your tresses. To help you rock your best look throughout an entire festival, below we’re breaking down how to transform your festival hair from day one to day two.

Day 1 Festival Hair: Super-Sleek Double-Dutch Braids

If you’ve taken one scroll through your social media feeds, then chances are you’ve seen the ultra-sleek braids that everyone and their sister is rocking these days. Not only is this hairstyle extremely trendy, but it’s also very cooling, too. And since festivals are known for getting pretty toasty, this hairstyle could be a must-wear for the first day.

What you’ll need:

Get the look by following these simple steps:

Step 1: Add styling cream to damp hair. To give your festival hair an extra-sleek finish, start your style off by adding a quarter-sized dollop of styling cream to your damp hair. After massaging the cream into your hair, use your brush to further distribute it for an even application.

Step 2: Part your hair down the middle. Next, use your rat tail comb to trace a center part down the middle of your head with the tail end.

Step 3: Dutch braid from your hairline down to your ends. Braid each side of your head in an inverted fashion that stays close to your part. Make sure to tighten each stitch so that your end look is sleek and tight, just like your favorite models rock the ‘do. Once you reach the ends, tie them off with clear mini elastics.

Step 4: Finish with hairspray. To give your look all-day hold through all of the inevitable dancing and bouncing around, finish your look with an allover spritz of hairspray.

Day 2 Festival Hair: Messy Boho Crown

Instead of undoing your day one ‘do, use it to your advantage to create your next look: a gorgeous messy boho crown. By maneuvering your braids a bit, you’ll be able to create a fresh new style without making your hair appear greasier by touching it a lot to unravel it and re-style it without a shower nearby.

Get the look by following these simple steps:

Step 1: Loosen up your braids. Starting at the bottom of each braid, gently tug each stitch to volumize your hair for a thicker, messier-looking braid. Once you reach your roots, use the tail end of your rat tail comb to gently lift and tug sections of hair for maximum height along your hairline and down the center of your head.

Step 2: Absorb excess oil at your roots. Even though your hair is in braids, you might find that your roots look a little oily after dancing and sweating the previous day and night. If that’s the case, shake up a can of dry shampoo and spray it on to absorb excess oil at your roots.

Step 3: Pin each braid up around your head to form your crown. When pinning your braids in place, tuck the ends under so that when combined together around the front of your head, it looks like one continuous braid. Once your crown looks just right, pop in a few bobby pins and fluff up areas as needed.

Step 4: Pull out face-framing strands. Nothing looks more whimsical with a crown of luscious locks than a few wispy tendrils out around your face and in front of your ears. Be sure to pull gently so as to not disrupt your braids too much.

Step 5: Finish with hairspray. With a look this gorgeous, you definitely want to make sure it lasts throughout the day’s festivities. A quick spritz of hairspray should do the trick!
