New formula?
I do not like this new formula. I have been using this mascara since I first learned to wear makeup and I am now 43. I never had one problem with it. I had consistently beautiful full lashes with this mascara and now I have smudges under my eyes after a few hours every time I use it. I'm so sad that the formula has changed because it's the only mascara I have like enough to use repeatedly since I was a kid. I've tried other things here and there over the years but nothing held a candle to this. Please bring back the original formula. Just make different editions that people can try out if they want to, in addition to the original formula PLEASE.

Bring back the old formula
The formula must have changed. I have worn voluminous mascara for almost 30 years. It now flakes off and irritates my eyes. I am so sad because I used to love this mascara. I will have to find another brand. I have tried other L’Oréal products but they all irritate my eyes. Very disappointed.

What happened?
So sad been using this since 1996 and now that the formula changed it’s awful. It clumps up and flakes off. Nothing like it use to be. Hope they go back to the original soon!!!!

Give us the old formula back
Please go back to the old formula. I’ve used this mascara for over 25 years. It was my go to, I’d recommend it to everyone. One person asked me if I had false eyelashes on. Then the formula changed and it is awful. I can’t wear it. It doesn’t add volume anymore and it’s really flaky when I remove it and it irritates my eye. I don’t know why you’d change the formula of such a popular mascara. It was perfect the way it was. So disappointing.

Sticky and clumpy, dries out fast
The original Voluminous mascara was perfect in every way, made my lashes look long and thick, some mascaras only do one or the other, this one always did both. It’s the only mascara I’ve ever used since my teens and I’m 48. I noticed in the last year or so, (maybe two), that it wasn’t working the same so I finally started trying others sadly. It clumps up now and dries out quickly. Doesn’t separate the lashes or make them look full or long and the texture seems “sticky”. I won’t be buying another tube just to throw it away. Whatever you’ve changed in the formula, you ruined it. Used to the best on the market.

Severe Allergic Reaction!!!!
I was so excited to use this mascara again since it used to be my daily driver. When I applied it, it went on so smoothly and I was so excited for how it made my lashes look. Within 20 minutes I started feeling the burning and itching sensation. I thought I had allergies, so didn’t think to take it off or that it had anything to do with the mascara. When I took it off at the end of the day, the mascara had gotten in my eyes, making the rash and itch even worse. I woke up the next day with my eyes almost sealed shut from the swelling and the itching was so bad. My eye lids were so swollen as well as my under eyes even down to my cheeks and nose. It has been an incredibly uncomfortable 48 hours since I applied the mascara. I finally made the connection that the only new thing in my routine was this mascara so it was 100% sure it was an allergic reaction to this mascara. Based on several reviews/forums online, it sounds like it’s a common occurrence.

Not like the original!
This mascara is awful. I've used this in the past, but it's not even close to the same (new formula?). It was clumpy, dry, and made my eyelashes very brittle and break. I thought maybe I bought one that was old, but I looked up reviews and my experience seems to be the consensus.

Bring back the original please
Used to love this mascara but now can only find it I 9x 11x 15x and it clumps and irritates my eyes. Would love the original back. I would tell everyone it’s the best mascara but now I’m at a loss.

New formula is too hard to remove.
I don't know what they did to this mascara, but all of a sudden it's so hard to remove! It used to be so easy to take off. Not anymore. Time to change.

Change in product such a disappointment
I have used this product for decades and I am so sad you decided to change the formula. I went store to store for months buying up the old mascara formula and have now finally ran out. This is such a disappointment. The new formula makes my eyes tear and clumps the lashes together. This had never been the case in the past. My hope is your team will realize their error and bring back the old formula. Until then I am on to find a replacement..,

Sadly not the same as 20 years ago
I used this mascara as long as I can remember. The last two I bought have so much product on the wand that I have to wipe it all off before I use it. This use to have a little plastic piece that scraped everything off and made the product have even coverage but now it's clumpy and heavy. Gotta look for something else.

Change isn’t always a good thing
I’ve been using this products for years but recently my eyes have been so darn irritated. Skin was itchy, eyes burning. I thought I needed eye drops and creams. Once I left off the mascara a few days it felt 100% better. Went back to L’Oréal and same thing happened. Why did you change a good thing? Now I’m trying Almay products. You’ve lost a loyal customer

This mascara cause me alergy
I was disappointed when after finishing all my makeup I felt a lot of irritation in my eye, it looked like I had rubbed pepper, my eye became swollen and very red, I needed to remove everything and use medicine to improve and so I don't recommend this product, I'm not allergic to anything, besides having used several other brands I've never had allergies or irritation like this.

Will not buy again
The worst mascara, they shouldn't have changed it. It flakes especially when you wash it off and it gets in your eyes. The color is not good. It doesn't smudge well, it's almost sticky. It also burns my faceand causes my eyes to water.

Clumpy Disappointment
After L'Oreal discontinued their purple tube Voluminous Fiber Waterproof Mascara, I tried the Voluminous Original Waterproof.
Huge disappointment! This mascara is not waterproof and comes out of the tube clumpy every time.

New formula is terrible.
I have a hard time finding mascara (waterproof or not) that doesn’t end up smudging all over my eyelids throughout the day. This mascara used to be my holy grail - didn’t budge throughout the day, but was also easy to remove without also taking my lashes with it. But the new formulation is awful. It smudges all over my eyes and is hard to remove. So bummed. I won’t be buying this again any time soon.

I have this product on auto order with a Vendor and have used 3 tubes. While I like the applicator and the consistency of the formula, it has been stinging my eyes out of the blue - without being messed with. This is supposed to be waterproof and suitable for sensitive eyes. It does smudge under my eyes. going to have to find another waterprrof for sensitive eyes as this is not it. Back to Maybelline I guess.

It’s stupid to cheapen up a good product!
I am 64 yrs young and have been a diehard fan of this mascara since I was 19 years old. What in Gods name have you done to the formula?? 2 coats of this mascara would last all day long or all night long. Now I put a 2nd coat on and it immediately balls up on the end of my lashes when it dries. What a shame. I guess I’ll try Maybelline 😞

Not good at all.
Flakes off every time. By the end of the day, there’s really nothing left on your lashes because it’s all over your cheekbones and under eye area. It doesn’t smudge! But that’s because it’s just flaking off all over the place.

Brush tip is bent.
I purchased the L’Oréal Voluminous Original Mascara from my local Walmart. When I went to use the mascara the tip of the brush was bent. I had already disposed of the packaging so was not able to return. I have been using, because I do love this product, however with the bent tip I have accidentally touched my eyelid causing me to blink and have mascara smeared under my eye. I am hoping this is an isolated case and that there was not a batch of non conforming brushes used. Thank you

I have been using the green washable bold mascara for a couple of years and love it. I decided to try the waterproof carbon black mascara and hate it! It barely goes onto my lashes. After many many layers applied to make it look like I was wearing mascara, I found that throughout the day everytime I looked in the mirror I had mascara underneath my eyes. I would wipe that away and a little while later found more underneath my eyes, as if I was wearing regular mascara and went swimming. Not impressed.

What has happened to the formula???
I'm not quite sure what you have done to the formula but I am so unhappy about it. I have been using the Voluminous Waterproof mascara for over 30 years and especially loved opening a new package and enjoying how dark and fat my eyelashes looked for the first few weeks. Of course it would gradually fade and get lighter as there was less and less in the tube and as it would dry out over time but that just meant I could open a new tube but now when I open a new tube the mascara goes on light and thin as if the tube had been open and used. Where is the dark and creamy formula that existed for years and years?!?! I hate to even think about the amount of money I have spent on my L'Oreal mascara but I guess it is time for a new brand.

I’m disappointed with the change
I used this product and loved it for years, although they just changed the exterior of the mascara adding a gold band to it and once I was in need of a need mascara I was getting a reaction to my eyelashes . Itchy and very clumpy on my lashes . I’m thinking they changed the ingredients. Has anyone experienced this ?

I have used this mascara for over 30 years, once in a while you could tell the formula changed, not just the packaging and I would stop using it for a while. Well, recently the packaging has changed, has a gold edging on the tube and once again the formula has changed. it is not as thick, it's more flaky and I can't wait to get home from work and take it off because it is makes my eyes watery and itchy. I have bought 5 tubes (new packaging) from different stores with the same results. I tossed out all of these tubes, but luckily I did find a couple of old tubes without the new gold stripe which will last me a couple months. Unfortunately, I will have to look for a new water proof mascara.

No longer a good product 😢
I have been using this mascara for almost 30 years. I started using the waterproof mascara when I became an aerobics instructor and it would not run like other brands. My lashes were long and thick and I got compliments all the time! I referred this product to anyone who asked what I used. The past few months however, I have purchased several tubes thinking that I got a bad batch or that maybe I was accidentally using an old tube because of how dry and clumpy it was. I finally realized the formula must have been changed. The mascara doesn’t come off the brush very easily anymore, and flakes onto my cheeks now. I’ve noticed my eyes get irritated from this new formula as well. My lashes don’t even look as though I have any mascara on! I am throwing away all the tubes I own and sadly, looking for a new brand. I HOPE AND PRAY that you bring back the old formula and advertise it on the packaging because I miss my go-to eye make up! All I ever need is a good mascara and a chapstick, but unfortunately it will no longer be by L’oreal. 😢

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
Please change the L’Oreal Voluminous Waterproof Mascara back to the original formula. I have been using this mascara ever since I started wearing make up in junior high and I am now about to turn 48…so about 34 years. I’ve always loved it so much that I always refused to try any other mascara. I recently noticed it wasn’t applying the same…seems almost greasy and then dries hard to where I can’t reapply like before to add more volume. It also doesn’t wear as well for as long and smears easily. It seems the change happened when the new gold band across the top of the mascara tube was added possibly? Also, I’ve been experiencing redness on my skin around my inner upper eyelids and lower outer eyes that is slightly puffy, itchy, and flaky. I haven’t gone to the doctor for this, but I was about to. Then I started to wonder if it was this change with the mascara, and now I am seeing all these reviews of other people are having allergic reactions and noticing a quality change as well. I just don’t understand why L’Oréal would change this wonderful mascara when it’s been selling so well for so many years. So why change it? Please L’Oreal change it back. I will have to use another mascara in the meantime.

Why did Loreal have to mess with a good thing?
I have been using Loreal mascaras for 45+ years. I've used Voluminous Original Mascara (not the waterproof type - I don't ever use waterproof) for well over 25 years, ever since Lash Out was discontinued. The formula has definitely changed for the worse. It seems that they jumped on the tubing technology bandwagon. WRONG MOVE! It is no longer buildable with additional coats without clumping. And when I go to wash it off, my fingers and face are covered in these little flakes. I've never been into using makeup or mascara removers - I'm a soap and water gal all the way. Now I have to lather up three or more times just to get all the mascara off, and even then it's still sticking to my lashes. Loreal, you just lost a life-long customer.

Waterproof Mascara No Longer Waterproof!!
I have used L’Oreal’s Voluminous waterproof mascara since it hit the market. I recently bought a new one and after wearing it a few times and having it smudge all under my eyes, I surely thought I must have purchased the one that was not waterproof. However, after checking the tube, and seeing that it clearly said waterproof, I called customer service and was told that they recently made a change in the formula causing this problem. The rep was very quick to offer me a refund in the form of a coupon. But when I asked if they were addressing the formula to assure that it was truly waterproof, she said no. So I’m wondering why they would give me a coupon to buy the same thing. L’Oréal you have just lost my business!

Went from my favorite for 25+ yrs to awful :-(
I am 43 and been buying the voluminous waterproof mascara as long as I remember, probably 25+ years. I am a loyal customer who buys at least 1 tube every 2 weeks. That is a lot of money over the years. This formula has changed since the new packaging came out in the last few months. It clumps, does not add volume, causes lashes to stick together, I even lost some lashes which is bizarre. When you try to unscrew the tube the threads on the cap get stuck to the threads on the tube. I think the formula is drying out quickly and there is less in the tube or the consistency is totally different causing the closing in the threads of the tube. I even use your white primer first as I always do and this mascara is still awful. I bought at least 4 tubes from different stores hoping I got a bad batch, but they are all bad. I have to go find another brand of mascara and very sad to do this. Please take all the poor reviews and fix the product we all loved.

Terrible
I like many other reviews have used this product for years. The old tube was black with a gold top, now dark gray tube with gold band and gold top. It clumps and looks terrible, after buying a couple of tubes and the a tube of washable, that ran when I put in eye drops, i give up. Today I broke down and bought a different brand of mascara.

Don't like the change in the product
I have used your blackest black voluminous non waterproof mascara since I was 16 years old. It has always been my favorite. But, I am extremely disappointed. Something has changed in formula, recently. It doesn't wash off anymore with soap and water. I have to use make up remover. And, I don't even buy waterproof. I still have some left on my eyelashes every evening. It doesn't separate the lashes well. My eyes look so clumpy, now. And, I noticed my eyes tend to get itchy, now. I possibly be allergic to something in your new formula. The original formula was way better! I don't like your new formula. And, I think I'm going to have to switch. This bums me out!

New formula terrible
I have been using voluminous mascara as long as I can remember I’m 41 so at least 20 years. Whatever you guys did to change, the mascara is awful. I have always promoted this mascara and it is horrible. I have to wash it off every day. It barely washes off my eyelashes clump together when I sleep my mom and Daughter) both use this mascara and will not use it anymore. We have always loved it and whatever you guys did to change the formula is awful and I hope that you guys put it back because I will not be searching for a new mascara.!

20+ years Voluminous Waterproof Mascara-Formula?
I am a loyal customer of 20+ years of the Black Voluminous Waterproof Mascara but lately my eyes have been watery, red and irritated. I thought I had an eye infection and used prescription drops to clear it up...with no luck. I stayed home one weekend and did not wear any makeup and my eyes cleared up. Went back to work on Monday and I wore this mascara and my eyes turned red and watery again. I LOVED this mascara but I am finding it hard wear and may have to find a replacement. Was the formula changed?

Hero to zero!!!!
I have been using Voluminous original for 25+ years. And have promoted it is the best mascara on the market. Until now! The formulas changed. It doesn’t go on smoothly, it doesn’t build it for a more dramatic look and it doesn’t wash off. It’s the worst and my eyes water all day long!

I can't use this product any more!
I have been using Loreal Voluminous Mascara for years. Now something had changed. It doesn't wash off with soap and water anymore. This changed Loreal irritates my eyes! My eyes are red and watery so that the skin in the corner of my eyes is all red and irritated. I thought I had an eye infection, but it was the reaction to the mascara. Please,,,, bring the old mascara back!!!

Not soap and water removable

Don't waste your money!
I've used to constantly get compliments about my lashes and eyes because I've this mascara for at least 20 years. It USED to be amazing.-making my lashes long, full and thick, with no clumping. But L'Oeeal changed their formula sometime around 2011-2012 and now it's awful. I get 2 uses our of the tube before it dries out-but as soon as opened it applies clumpy and produces flakes all over my face. I was heartbroken but kept giving them the benefit of the doubt, hoping I'd just gotten a bad tube but nope. Every tube is awful. I even stopped using it for several years and used a Tarte mascara, which was fabulous! But recently I decided to give this mascara one more shot, because it's less expensive. I was so optimistic and excited, hoping the formula had returned to the original.
Well, that was a waste of time and money! I learned that it's still horrible and the former formula isn't coming back. This tube was dry to begin with - the wand came out looking dry the first time I opened it! Iy was so bad that I ended up having to add a few drops of sterile saline to make it moist enough to use. It clumped all over and just made an ugly mess. Needless to say, I threw the Voluminous away. I'll never buy another L'Oeeal product again. It's reprehensible and shocking that they still test on animals. Animal cruelty is despicable.

Where was L’Oréal during this product development?
How is this product selling!? I’m trying to find a replacement for the Voluminous Collagen Mascara. Voluminous Carbon is awful! I always have raccoon eyes! It’s an embarrassment! Everyone asks “What’s wrong?” I go to the mirror…It looks like I either have two black eyes or I was crying.

Worst mascara for sensitive eyes!
I don’t wear makeup daily. I bought this mascara and never thought about it being an issue with my eyes. It wasn’t until, I wore only this mascara that I realized I am severely allergic to it. It irritates my eyes so bad that they water for days and the sides of my eyes are raw as a result. This mascara is horrible if you have sensitive skin around your eyes. I DO NOT recommend this product to anyone!

Changed their formula?
I have used this for over 25 years but the formula had to have changed. It made my eyes burn, red and itchy. I thought it was something I had gotten in it. My eyes were in bad shape and I didn't even think it would be the mascara. I had to go see my eye doctor and I had eye infections from an allergic reaction in both eyes. I'm sad because I hate change but forced to find a new product. I see from many of the reviews, others are also having bad reactions in their eyes.

Terrible Mascara
Purchased this after learning my holy grail, Unlimited in Blackest Black, was discontinued. This is probably the worst mascara I've ever used. It didn't make my lashes look any thicker or longer, it didn't hold a curl, and after rubbing my eye, I looked in the mirror and it had smudged everywhere around my undereye. I really don't even understand how this company discontinued their best mascara, but keeps this on their line.

Change in Product
I have used this mascara religiously for over 5 years. However the last 6 months it has caused extreme allergic reaction. It seems as though something has changed. I even had an allergic patch test done and the mascara resulted in a severe blister.

Disappointed
I tried this mascara for the first time and am disappointed. Not only was it clumpy in its application but during the day the area around my eyes began to burn and itch. I couldn’t wait to get home and wash my face. I waited several days and tried again. I had the same reaction and have since stopped using.

I have been using this mascara off and on for several decades. I love the fact that it comes in black brown (hard to find), and that it comes in a waterproof formula because my eyes are quite oily. The problem is that it doesn’t coat my lashes decently unless I put on at least three coats. I’m theorizing that it is either a very dry formula, it has dried out by the time I bought it, or there is not very much product in the tube. I am very disappointed, and this is the last time I’m buying this. I will move on to a tubing mascara.

Still Best Mascara for Volume & Beautiful Lashes
I have used Voluminous Waterproof Mascara for years. I am blonde with a fair to light complexion, and it is hard to find a brown/ black that brightens your eyes, allows your lashes to stand out, and does not make sensitive eyes water. Maybe the current issues with the product (drying out, clumping, etc.) has to do with store inventories that moved slowly over the last few years and may have been on the shelf for too long or stored in a less than desirable place. I unfortunately purchased various makeup items, including three Voluminous Waterproof Mascaras, from stores or online that were dry, clumpy, or old. That being said, I have tried other mascaras through the years, but always return to the dependability of L'Oréal Voluminous Waterproof Mascara. Use the Voluminous Lash Boosting Conditioning Primer Mascara first for beautiful results.

Used to love.
I have been using the mascara for years. I have tried many others, including high end brands. I always go back to this. Until now. Did the formula change? The mascara ends up under my eyes which never used to happen and it doesn’t build like it used to. It doesn’t last as long in the tube either.

Waste of Money
I previously used Maybelline's Full 'N Soft Mascara Waterproof for YEARS. I wanted to try something new and purchased L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Mascara Waterproof in Black Brown. When I went to purchase a replacement tube of L'Oreal, it was useless, dried up and immediately tossed in the trash. What a waste of money. Guess I'm going back to Maybelline. Wish I could give it 0 Stars.

Definitely has changed
I have been using this product for years, however it seems that it has changed. It feels like I have to buy a new one every 2 weeks. The first two times of use is good, then it seems very to be very dry and clumpy. Almost brittle feeling. Always has been my go to and obviously still purchasing because I’m not good with change…but I’m going to have to look for something different.

Unacceptable
I have been using this product for years. The last two tubes I purchased were either empty or had dried out. There should be an expiration date if they dry out that quickly. We actually cut a tube in half and it just looked empty!

Tube was dry
I have been using L'Oreal Voluminous mascara for at least 25 years. I have dry eye, meaning my eyes water profusely at times. The waterproof Hydrofuge has been my go-to for awhile. It isn't entirely waterproof, but lasts longer than most. My latest purchase was a total disappointment. It was almost completely dry. There was no product in the tube. I am terribly disappointed.

Clumpy and gooey
I haven't even had this new one open for very long but it is a gooey, clumped mess. Hard to put on evenly. Very disappointed!!!! Wish there was a way to get it replaced by something better.

I love how the Voluminous Waterproof formula makes my lashes look full & natural. Unfortunately, the product flakes off in a few hours.

Would not receommend
Used to love this brand so I thought I would try to waterproof version as I wanted it to last longer on active days. It wasn't waterproof for me and smudged a lot. On top of that, it took forever to take off. I would use makeup remover and 4 days later it would still be smudging off and giving me dark circles. Also found my eyes were dry when I wore it. Disappointed, as it's costing more money in makeup remover than what it's worth.

Poor quality
This has always been my favorite mascara but like the other reviews, the quality in the last 3 purchases I've made has been way off. Very clumpy after just a couple uses, and this latest purchase was clumpy when I first opened it for the 1st use. I thought perhaps I had just gotten a bad batch but it seems like no matter where I buy it, I get the same results.
