begging for melting gel from
Not Melting Gel Substitute
Please bring back melting gel! It’s a decade later and people STILL begging you to bring it back or make a “new” product with the old melting gel formula. With this many requests you have to wonder is L’Oréal unable to swallow their pride and admit it shouldn’t have been discontinued or something? Never seen a following like this before for a drug store hair product. Is there a Kerastasse product that’s the old melting gel at double the price? Please share the name if so. I will buy it.

No Travel Size
Great product but they don't make an airplane restricted travel size in 3oz or less. 1.25 or 2oz sizes are needed.

I loved the 80s/90s lemon scent.
I just don’t like the “clean smell”. Bring back the old formula from the 80s and 90s. It used to smell lemon like and Walmarts styling fiber strong hold has this exact smell. However, it is not as good as the old gel.

This product is not a good substitute for Melting Gel. L'Oreal, you need to admit your mistake and bring back Melting Gel. I am reluctantly looking elsewhere to replace Melting Gel. L'Oreal are you listening?

Not good at all. Melting Gel was a lot better and not as sticky and stiff as this one is.
I am not sure why Loreal would not bring back Melting Gel. It had a strong hold, mild smell, allowed the hair not to look natural.

Nowhere close to melting gel
This is not an alternate to melting gel. I am sure your marketing team is seeing sales numbers and saying oh this is working but mind it half of those purchases are a result of customer mistaking the product as same as melting gel. Bring melting gel back and keep this SKU for customers who like this one

OMG BEST GEL EVER!
I've tried other brands & this one leaves no residue & doesn't make my fine wavy hair oily like some other products. Just not crazy about the smell. Should be fragrance-free. At lease the smell dissipates quickly. Works great but, then again, I never tried the "melting" hair gel everyone is raving about but was discontinued.

Thick and Way too Sticky - like clear glue
Very disappointed. Wonder who at L'Oreal is responsible for suggesting this product as an alternative for the Melting Gel. I tried it and its texture is not even close. Like comparing hockey to bowling - Yeah there both sports, but ... Please bring back the Melting Gel and I will order 30 of them.

Studio Line Clean Gel is great gel!
I love the strong hold! My hair is stubborn and straight so it works great for me. My one complaint is the plastic cover on the tube. I've dropped two containers on the floor and your brittle cover always breaks in half. My suggestion is to make a more durable cover for product enhancement.

Amazing for medium length hair
I had to write a review, because I'm shocked that there are so many 1 star reviews. Perhaps they are fake reviews from a competitor? I have used this product for a while now and can say that it provides excellent hold to my hair (men's medium length hair) w/o looking greasy like some of the other hair gels out there. The best time to put it on is right after you shower, then use a comb.

Does not compare to melting gel!
I feel the same as many others. The melting gel was awesome! This clean gel is not a replacement...does not come close. It's sticky and heavy. Please listen to the consumers. I will definitely purchase again if you bring it back but I am not buying the clean gel ever again.

NOT like melting gel
This is not a good replacement for The melting gel (discontinued). I had used Melting Gel religiously for years — it was the only gel that controlled my fine curly hair without weighing it down or making it feel weird. Everything else (like this clean gel) leaves my curls limp and frizzy. I’ve spent a small fortune trying to find a replacement. This has been so disappointing — PLEASE bring back the melting gel as it was. It was perfect.

Bring Back the Melting Gel!
I have been using the Melting gel for over a decade and it's the only product that works with my unruly very curly semi-frizzy hair, leaving it super soft when it dries. The Clean gel, Invisi-gel and all the others leave my hair feeling like a crusty helmet. Please bring back the Melting Gel. THAT is the only product that is different than the rest.

No replacement for melting gel
Even cut with a significant amount of water, this is thick, binds hair together and leaves a crunchy feel. Not cut at all, this is similar to styling paste. Used Melting Gel for a decade and now have to go to a different brand. Great decision

Bring back Melting Gel!
This is a sticky and thick formula. It’s horrible for my curly hair. Melting gel was the best gel ever! It was my holy grail product! It was an ideal thin non sticky formula that gave my curls definition and hair didn’t feel hard or sticky. Please bring it back! This Clean Gel is NOT a substitute! It’s like any other generic thick gel. Discontinue this and bring back Melting Gel please!

Bring back the melting gel. This one is terrible. It's thick, pasty and doesn't spread well plus it doesn't hold. If I put alot in it holds but feels gunky in my hair. I loved the melting gel, used it for many many years. Please bring it back.

We beg you, bring back Melting Gel
We BEG you, please bring back melting gel .....or make it available for online purchase only. It appears you have enough people here to be able to run a batch and have it sell out. These recommended alternatives do not work. If you really think the formula is worthless then publish it online like Chicfila did with their coleslaw recipe. I guarantee someone like me will go get it made.

No Substitute for Melting Gel
I've read all the negative reviews for Clean Gel and completely agree that this is a terrible substitute for your discontinued Melting Gel product, which I used for many years until I could no longer find it. It was my favorite hair care product and always made my long curly red hair look fantastic. I used to get so many compliments and I always recommended Melting Gel. I would sincerely like to know why L'Oreal discontinued it. Please don't bother with the typical "we're sorry to hear..." response. I've read all those. What does your "team" have to say? It would be great if you could reach out to your loyal customers with some explanation? And if you could please provide a good substitute (even if it's not your product) that would be great. I've tried a bunch of others but have not found a product that even comes close to leaving my hair as soft, shiny and frizz-free as Melting Gel.

Not the same as Melting Gel
As others have said, Melting Gel was great. Clean gel is sticky. I bought a tube, used it once and threw it away. A complete waste of money. Please bring back Melting gel. In the meantime, I will try other competitors.

Bring back Melting Gel Please!!
I have been using and preaching about Melting Gel for 15 years. I have tried other expensive alternatives and there is literally nothing on the market that compares. Clean Gel is not the same and a terrible replacement. If you will not bring back Melting Gel (but please do!!) can you please advise your customers what ingredient in Melting Gel made it so unique so we can seek out a better alternative?? I have curly hair and HATED it until I found Melting Gel. It changed how I felt about my hair and I’m desperate to get it back. Thank you!

This is listed as an alternative to Melting Gel. This has none of the holding power that the Melting Gel had. The ingredients aren't similar. I really wish they'd bring it back.

Please Bring Back the Melting Gel
I was afraid this might happen one day...I've been using the Studio Line Melting Gel - Strong Hold for as long as I can remember. It was wonderful...held my hair in place without any stiffness whatsoever. The Clean Gel recommendation is a poor substitute. Too stiff and sticky. I tried may other gels before finding the Melting Gel product. I guess I will be forced to start hunting for one again. It's hard to believe L'oreal would discontinue a product that worked so well and so much better than anything from your competitors. PLEASE consider bring the Melting Gel product back to market!!!!

I've been using the L'OREAL Melting Gel for as long as I can remember...at least 20 years. I tried the Clean Gel and it doesn't even compare and I won't ever use again. Unfortunately I'm in search of a replacement. Please bring the Melting Gel back into my life.

Not an alternative to Mlting Gel
Eating gel was a manageable flexible hold with a light feel. I used it for many years. This product is no better than the other gel products available from the grocery store shelf. Melting gel helped L’Oréal stand out from the competitors with a product that was different and very reliable. Clean gel is not that product. Bring back the melting gel and bring back lost customers

Horrible gel
I’ve been using your melting gel for many years. It wasn’t sticky and it didn’t leave my hair stiff as a board like this product. I see I’m not the only one with the same comments, Where can I get another product similar to L’Oréal melting gel. Please bring it back.

Not a replacement for Melting Gel
Clean Gel is not the same as Melting Gel. Clean Gel leaves my hair sticky and tries to hold my curls. Melting Gel is dry and holds my curls in a way that they can move naturally. I've used Melting Gel for over a decade. Paid premium $$$ for it as it was worth it. Clean Gel is no better for my hair than Dollar Store Har gel. So disappointed.

Not as good as Melting Gel
I bought this a few weeks ago to try since I can’t get Melting gel anymore. It leaves my hair so sticky and stiff it is almost unmanageable. Please bring back Melting gel, I used it for over 15 years and nothing I have tried comes close to it.

Bring back the MELTING GEL!!!
I can not believe this was discontinued. As a male in his 40's with hair that is thinning this was the only product I could use in my hair that didn't stiffen my hair or clump it together, but also held it in place (for what's left). I guess I now have to shave my head because none of the recommended L'oreal products come close to the effectiveness of the Melting Gel or I'll have to venture to another company that would produce something similar. Very disappointing after 15 years of using this product. Who wants to buy multiple products just to try them and see if they work....(sigh)

Great Product
Holds really well without looking like I'm using a product! My only complaint: Why isn't this sold in a small travel size so I can bring it with me on a plane? I hate having to use a different product while traveling. Seems like a missed marketing opportunity.

Best gel for curly locks
Nothing manages my super curly locks better than this product! I've been using the Studio Line Clean Gel for as long as I can remember and it works better than any other product I've ever tried. I've wasted my time and money on so many other products that don't even come close to the quality of this product. The Clean Gel is just that...CLEAN! It smells nice, it doesn't feel greasy or get crunchy when it dries. None of the stores in my area carry this product anymore, much to my dismay.
