Who doesn’t love a good smoky eye? The way all the matte, satin, and shimmer shades blend together is can truly be a work of art. But what if we told you there were more ways to approach the eye makeup look than with just those three eye shadow finishes? Yep, that’s right, now, you can even get a metallic smoky eye—and we’ll be the first to tell you, it looks good. So, who’s ready to switch up their regular eye makeup look in favor of a high-shine beauty look? Ahead you’ll learn how to blend three different metallic smoky eye looks, as well as which face makeup looks best with this makeup trend.
If you love the sound of metallic makeup but you’re not ready to embrace a fully bold beauty look, your best bet is to embrace a metallic champagne smoky eye.
What you’ll need:
L’Oréal Paris Infallible Crushed Foils Metallic Eye Shadow in Diamond Dust
L’Oréal Paris Infallible 24 HR Eye Shadow in Bronzed Taupe
L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara Primer/Base
L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara
Get the look by following these simple steps:
Whenever you want to create an eye shadow look that lasts, it’s important to start by priming your eyelids—especially when it comes to high-impact metallic shades. Simply blend a dot of primer onto each lid and then move on to the next step.
That means starting with you lighter color. In this case, use Diamond Dust. Use a fluffy eye shadow brush to apply product from your last line up just past your crease. By starting with your lighter color, you’ll give your smoky color something to blend into so that you won’t end up with a muddy metallic eye look.
Next, use a tapered crease brush to apply some of Bronzed Taupe into your crease. Once you’ve applied it, go back to your fluffy brush and use it to blend your colors together ever so slightly so that there’s a nice gradient on your lid.
Yep, we’re skipping eyeliner with this one. That’s because a soft semi-neutral metallic smoky eye can prove to be a wonderful daytime lid look. So, you can move straight to enhancing your lashes, with the first step being a quick priming sesh with a lash primer. A few quick swipes will set your lashes up for success to look their longest and most curled.
Top off your primer with a quick coat or two of mascara and having fun showing off your subtle metallic smoky eye.
Ready to ramp it up a bit? Go a shade darker with a metallic gold smoky eye.
L’Oréal Paris Infallible Crushed Foils Metallic Eye Shadow in Gilded Gold
L’Oréal Paris Infallible 24 HR Eye Shadow in Continuous Cocoa
L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Liquid Eyeliner in Black
L’Oréal Paris Voluminous X Fiber Waterproof Mascara
Get the look by following these simple steps:
You know the drill! Prime your lids, let them dry, and move on to the next step.
Pop the top on Gilded Goldand use a fluffy eye shadow brush to dust some of the color onto your lids. Extend it up on the outer corner of your lids to give your smoky eye shadow something to blend into in the next step.
Use a tapered crease brush to coat your crease in Continuous Cocoa. After swiping the color into place, use a fluffy blending brush to blend it all out for a smoky metallic lid look.
To give your metallic statement eye a little extra drama, trace some black liquid eyeliner along your upper lash line. Follow the same shape of your smoky eye, extending your eyeliner up and out into a slight cat eye.
Since we love the drama, skip out on the classic mascara and reach for a waterproof fiber mascara instead. Start by coating your lashes with the lash primer, then the fibers, and then you’re good to go. Voila!
Now, if you want to really darken things up, this is the metallic smoky eye for you.
L’Oréal Paris Infallible Crushed Foils Metallic Eye Shadow in Crushed Stone
L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadow in Noir Cest Noir
L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Original Mascara in Deep Burgundy
Dab and blend primer onto your lids, and then move on to the next step.
The fluffier the brush, the better, as you don’t want to apply Crushed Stone too heavily. As with any dark eye shadow, it can become very muddy, very quick. Apply it with a light hand and extend it between your lash line and just beyond your crease.
Next, Pop the top on Noir Cest Noir and layer it into your crease, blending until there’s a seamless transition between colors.
To really smoke things up, trace your lash lines with a waterproof black eyeliner pencil. Using a sponge-tipped brush, gently buff out the color for a smoky finish that continues to add definition to your metallic smoky eye.
Since your lid look is relatively dark, add a little color to the mix with a few swipes of a deep burgundy mascara and fall in love with your sultry beauty look.
