Usage

Apply along the top and bottom lash line beginning in the inner corner of the eye and working outward. Suitable to use on the inner rim in the waterline. Love this pencil

i love this pencil, which I have in the blue color. Use it to underline/waterline my eyes. However, i only love it because I have an "industrial" electric pencil sharpener. & I had to call customer service to discover it wasn't a retractable/swivel up pencil even tho the bottom of the pencil turns, fooling you into thinking that's how it works. I did try the usual eye liner pencil sharpener...do dice as so many others have noted. The hard plastic holder is definitely a design challenge/defect that L'Oreal should correct.

Very frustrating to use!

I bought this product looking for something that would really not smudge, which I found to the case with this eyeliner pencil. However, sharpening it was impossible to do because the outer layer is so thick, and I wasted half of the pencil trying to sharpen it, which left sharp edges. I tried a dual sharpener but still didn't work. It's too bad that it is so difficult to use, but a waste of money if you can only get a few uses out of it before you need to sharpen it but can't.

Design flaw

Just purchased this pencil on Tuesday, by today I needed to sharpen it. The pencil was destroyed by the sharper,and is now in the garbage. What a waste of money!

An Unpleasant Experience

The good: This product has excellent pigmentation and the color itself is beautiful. It’s a perfect neutral brown that is less harsh than black, for a more natural look. It really is waterproof. The bad and the ugly: I bought this pencil to tight-line my eyes as I like to go for a more natural look. This product is too goopy. I put it in the refrigerator overnight to see if the product would become a little firmer, while still being smooth enough to glide on my eyes without tugging. It did not harden and does not keep its point long enough to even line one eye. The application is messy and the product clumps and fails to blend seamlessly, and this is after diligently prepping my eye area. Not only is the application of this a product a terrible and frustrating experience, but the formula is also irritating to the eyes and overwhelmingly difficult to remove. L’Oreal has some wonderful products, but this one really is not one of them.

Great until you need to resharpen...then garbage.

I loved this eyeliner when I first bought it. But after using it for about a week, I needed to sharpen it...and it was NOT doable. I tried GWO different pencil sharpeners and neither could get the job done. One of them literally coupd NOT even cut through the outer material. The other, a brand name sharpener, barely cut through, and when kt did, it left the eyeliner jagged and unable to be used. I am so disappointed that I spent $12+ only to have it unusable. If it can only be used with a "high end" sharpener, then it should be provided with it.

I bought this pencil last week. Loved how it glided on. Then I needed to sharpen it. Impossible! Like other reviews- not doable. Plus the pencil will NOT advance so it’s unusable. This was a total wates of my money. It will not move when I screw the bottom of the pencil. I have tried all the "tricks" recommended and it will not advance.

  Hello CBurns. It sounds like there may be some confusion on how to sharpen the Infallible Pro Last Waterproof Pencil Eyeliner. The liner you purchased does not swivel, its sharpened with any good makeup sharpener. There can be a slight learning curve to getting a good point restored. These new generation gel liners need a sharp blade and gentle touch to sharpen well. For best results don’t try to push the pencil into the sharpener. At the slightest resistance, you’re in far enough. Gently turn and shave off a thin layer to reveal more liner. Pushing the pencil in too far will cause the blade to grab too much of the resin, the pencil won’t sharpen well that way...If its been awhile since you bought a new sharpener, you’ll be surprised the difference a fresh blade can make.

I bought two eyelines and both of them not I have the same issues with not advancing when pencil is low. The answer that is given is to use a sharpener. There is nothing to sharpen when you're unable to advance the pencil to move forward.

  My complaint is the same as the ones posted on-line. For the cost of this pencil it is almost limited to 5-6 applications before the crayon portion is too short and totally misleading as it appears to be a "roll-up". No way to sharpen this! How can you charge sooo much for this product? I will try calling the number given and give ref#27066551. This is my 2nd of 3rd time buying this expensive pencil. I thought I might have gotten a malfunctioning one so tried again.

  I agree with you. I have tried to sharpen this with the recommended sharpener but it is very hard to cut through the pencil covering. The eyeliner portion then is cut in starts and stops ending up missing chunks. Love the color but difficult to use.

  L’Oréal are you saying the only way to get the eyeliner out is to use a pencil sharpener? If yes, the pencil sharpener should come with the eyeliner. I can’t get any of the liner to come out no matter how much gentle twisting I do. After 1 week, I can’t use it.

Just curious as to why this pencil has a twist piece on the end if you are to sharpen it with a sharpener? Makes no sense… Also, I think you should make that more clear on the packaging that this is a “do-it-yourself” sharpening product…

It doesn't keep the same original point after sharpening. It puts a wide and messy line PLUS it gets on my lashes, causing another problem. For me, it is about the best waterproof eyeliner I've found....but it has some flaws.

Seems like each review is about this issue. L'Oreal's generic reply is to repeat instructions about how to sharpen it and that you need a high quality eyeliner sharpener (additional purchase if you don't own one. The same reply was given to a comment where the person said that they DID use the correct sharpener and it still didn't work. L'OREAL: CONTACT ME FOR A REFUND OR CREDIT.

The bad news is that I tried various cosmetic eye pencil sharpeners and none work to properly sharpen it. Therefore, I paid $11 for an eyeliner I was able to use for only one week. Please contact me directly to issue me a refund or six more pencils so that I can get the six weeks more of use out of it that I was expecting. Thank you.

After opening the first 4 lines it's impossible to sharpen the pencil, I've tried so many different sharpeners always with the same result: the middle breaks apart and smudges all over the sharpener, the otter layer chips and it's a hazard to try to put it next to your eyeballs ever again....but those few lines at the beginning are perfection!!! I got the bronze and the color last all day. Really hope the presentation would change for a plastic twist pencil or something functional

I was a bit disappointed when I saw the only way to advance the pencil was to use a sharpener because soft pencils usually crumble in a sharpener. I read the reviews and this was always the complaint. The company came back with " use a sharpener, don't push the pencil while sharpening, turn slowly 3-4 times". So I tried that making sure it did not grab the soft part but only the black casing around the soft pencil part. It worked! The key is to not push the pencil into the blade. Insert it but don't jamb the end.. Gently turn it like they say. It will grab the black casing and do it's job.

I use this pencil so much I’m down to about an inch left of it. To the reviews that mentions that it doesn’t sharpen I’m confused, like what sharpeners are you guys using. I have a cheap 4 sharpener from maybelline and it sharpens my pencil perfectly every time. This is my 12th pencil I’ve purchased and I honestly hope these reviews won’t discontinue it.

I did read the reviews about people having trouble sharping them and never had the issue tbh. But that’s because I use a cheap pencil sharpener to sharpen all my liners instead of a cosmetic sharpener. Since it’s a thicker plastic. some cosmetic sharpeners are made for plastic liners and some aren’t so it really depends on the sharpener

With the hard plastic cover there is no way to sharpen this. I paid over $10 to only use the product about five times. I have since read other reviews and get the same answer for each of them about using a good sharpener not gonna happen. I certainly would love to be able to get a refund.

I have watery mature eyes (58) and have a horrible time keeping eyeliner on. I’ve tried more expensive ones that claim to stay but they don’t. Once this is on, it stays! If I work quickly, I can blend it a bit. I just wish there were more shades without shimmer. This is now a staple part of my makeup routine.

I had bought a sharpener tried and tried and tried and tried until I could not get either one to sharpener. I AM SO SORRY I WASTED MY MONEY ON THEM. I went to the store and spoke to them and they told me tough luck. Oh great. Now I'm stuck with these 2 pencils that just won't sharpener. Back to finding the liquid brand od these colour's BUT it won't be L'Oreal.

I wrote to your customer service dept last week and have not heard anything back. It is such a good eye pencil, but is impossible to sharpen after it dulls. The packaging does not give any directions as to how to do this. I thought it turned from the end, but it doesn't. I finally realized you must use an actual sharpener and it wastes much of the eye pencil trying to get it sharp and then it goes on way too thick. Most disappointing.

After a week, it needed sharpening, and thought the other end rotated to produce more pencil "lead." Nope. Then I used my excellent sharpener, which has worked for everything else...Nope. Was concerned that I was ruining my sharpener...I'll be returning the other Infallible gel mechanical liner I bought...too expensive for me...bought it for the grey color and waterproof feature. Don't waste your money!

I’ve always loved L’Oreal‘s products but not this one. It’s soft it gives you too thick of a line then you can’t shape your line and definitely You can’t sharpen it and I can’t get it to come up anymore and I’ve only used it two times.

It is a good product IF you can make it last long enough to be worthwhile, I do notice your answer is the same for most negative comments, but this does not offer a fix or refund.

But none the less this product is not worth purchasing due to the fact it is almost impossible to sharpen. The bottom of the pencil rotates which would indicate it will extend more of the eyeliner but it does not extend anything. It shouldn't even be there because it is confusing and frustrating. Once I figured out it doesn't work that way I tried to sharpen it. Total agrravation. It broke apart, sharp edges which ended up scraping my eyelid and was now unusable. I threw it in the trash. I will not buy this product again. Total waste of money.

I use it on the top eyelashes slightly wink with a brush, and also tight line. On the bottom lashes I wear the bronze and wow! Best bronze for brown eyes. Last until I take it off. I use a small sharpener and have no problem sharpening it. Love!

However, only about an inch of the pencil is usable then it becomes impossible to sharpen when you get to the part of the pencil with writing on it. I tried 3 different eye pencil sharpeners, including the Loreal Infallible sharpener specifically made for these. The pencil breaks and comes off in large chunks. Totally worthless.

Per Loreal, you use an eye pencil sharpener which I tried. After breaking thru the plastic on the tip, my point was less than pointy, more broken, uneven and not able to use. Even thought the bottom twists, nothing happened. Had to look through quite a bit of reviews and L'orieal pages to find out that you need an industrial-grade eye pencil sharpener. Total waste of my money, my first for the L'oreal products which I usually love.

Such a waste money for a liner that you can only use a couple times. I tried with a brand new sharpener and light pressure as they keep recommending to others. The plastic casing comes out jagged and the tip breaks off. You would think with thousands of reviews like this the company would issue a recall or offer a refund and redesign the mechanics of this pencil. You can’t blame user error on the thousands of bad reviews. This tells you that the design is flawed. L’Oréal, if you stand by your products and care about your customers you will make this right. There are too many negative reviews.

Had to use a Cutco knife. Every time I sharpened it the soft tip would break off. It's a shame because the eyeliner stays on and doesn't smudge. Too bad.

I love the Infallible pro-last, but I cannot roll out more pencil. I used it until it was flat and couldn’t find a way to roll out more pencil.

What eye liner is the closest to Le Liner Signature which was discontinued?

Just curious as to why this pencil has a twist piece on the end if you are to sharpen it with a sharpener? Makes no sense… Also, I think you should make that more clear on the packaging that this is a “do-it-yourself” sharpening product…

It doesn't keep the same original point after sharpening. It puts a wide and messy line PLUS it gets on my lashes, causing another problem. For me, it is about the best waterproof eyeliner I've found....but it has some flaws.

I love the Infallible pro-last, but I cannot roll out more pencil. I used it until it was flat and couldn’t find a way to roll out more pencil.

Just curious as to why this pencil has a twist piece on the end if you are to sharpen it with a sharpener? Makes no sense… Also, I think you should make that more clear on the packaging that this is a “do-it-yourself” sharpening product…

It doesn't keep the same original point after sharpening. It puts a wide and messy line PLUS it gets on my lashes, causing another problem. For me, it is about the best waterproof eyeliner I've found....but it has some flaws.
