Great at first…..
I really liked the idea of having a waterproof eyeliner. Directions read that the pencil can be sharpened. With the hard plastic cover there is no way to sharpen this. I paid over $10 to only use the product about five times. I have since read other reviews and get the same answer for each of them about using a good sharpener not gonna happen. I certainly would love to be able to get a refund.

It stays put!
I don’t understand the negative comments, my only negative would be the color choices.
I have watery mature eyes (58) and have a horrible time keeping eyeliner on. I’ve tried more expensive ones that claim to stay but they don’t.
Once this is on, it stays! If I work quickly, I can blend it a bit.
I just wish there were more shades without shimmer.
This is now a staple part of my makeup routine.

I bought both Cobalt Blue and Purple eyeliner pencil. I was happy to find these colour's. BUT now try and sharpen them. I had bought a sharpener tried and tried and tried and tried until I could not get either one to sharpener. I AM SO SORRY I WASTED MY MONEY ON THEM. I went to the store and spoke to them and they told me tough luck. Oh great. Now I'm stuck with these 2 pencils that just won't sharpener. Back to finding the liquid brand od these colour's BUT it won't be L'Oreal.

Initially liked but does not sharpen
I LOVED this eye pencil until it needed to be sharpened. I wrote to your customer service dept last week and have not heard anything back. It is such a good eye pencil, but is impossible to sharpen after it dulls. The packaging does not give any directions as to how to do this. I thought it turned from the end, but it doesn't. I finally realized you must use an actual sharpener and it wastes much of the eye pencil trying to get it sharp and then it goes on way too thick. Most disappointing.

HORRIBLE!
I should have read the reviews before I purchased this. This pencil CAN NOT be sharpened and the reviews reflect this. I tried 3 different sharpeners and did it "gently" as suggested - nope, still can't sharpen. I can't believe you still offer this item. The reviews from 7 YEARS AGO talk about the same issues with sharpening. Shame on you!

Liked this product once I realized a light touch was needed. After a week, it needed sharpening, and thought the other end rotated to produce more pencil "lead." Nope. Then I used my excellent sharpener, which has worked for everything else...Nope. Was concerned that I was ruining my sharpener...I'll be returning the other Infallible gel mechanical liner I bought...too expensive for me...bought it for the grey color and waterproof feature. Don't waste your money!

Aubergine eye color hood. Defective tubing. Broke
color good. Tubing broke after 3 usages. Wouldn’t advance in tubing when the pencil contents got low. Horrible waste of money. Won’t buy again.

Worst ever
Is the most horrible pencil I have ever purchased in my entire life and believe you may I’ve been wearing make up for 55 years. I’ve always loved L’Oreal‘s products but not this one. It’s soft it gives you too thick of a line then you can’t shape your line and definitely You can’t sharpen it and I can’t get it to come up anymore and I’ve only used it two times.

Do NOT recommend this to others, waste of $$
Along with most other comments … i was only able to use this about 5 times before it needed sharpening, it is very soft… and no luck doing that either. $10+ is a lot to pay for less than a week’s usage. It is a good product IF you can make it last long enough to be worthwhile, I do notice your answer is the same for most negative comments, but this does not offer a fix or refund.

When you use the 1/4 inch point before you sharpen it, it’s an OK product but once you try to sharpen it, it’s useless. The plastic that you sharpen is so hard that it mostly just breaks the eyeliner. I’ve purchased it twice,

Waste of money
I agree with everyone else. I liked it when I first started using it but once the usable part was gone I can’t get any more to come out of the tube so there’s nothing to sharpen. What a complete waste of money. Probably won’t be trying L’Oréal again.

This eye pencil needs a redesign!
Love the pencil when it's new, but trying to sharpen it is crazy. Loreal needs to change the design or something. Lots of customers have said the same thing.

Loved the eyeliner until it needed sharpening
I absolutely love how this eyeliner goes on and stays! It literally is the best eyeliner I have ever used…..for one week until it needs sharpening. I purchased it at Target and to be honest is was ridiculously expensive and now knowing I can’t get it to sharpen one week use vs the cost is a rip off. I’m so disappointed with L’Oréal. “If” it’s possible to sharpen it then they should include the sharpener that actualky works with it.

Waste of money
The eyeliner is very soft and glides easily. But none the less this product is not worth purchasing due to the fact it is almost impossible to sharpen. The bottom of the pencil rotates which would indicate it will extend more of the eyeliner but it does not extend anything. It shouldn't even be there because it is confusing and frustrating. Once I figured out it doesn't work that way I tried to sharpen it. Total agrravation. It broke apart, sharp edges which ended up scraping my eyelid and was now unusable. I threw it in the trash. I will not buy this product again. Total waste of money.

First-Grade Engineering!!! Why L’Oréal?
I didn’t read the reviews on this product until after I purchased it, and it wasn’t until I needed to sharpen it that I found that all of these 1-star reviews are correct! I love L’Oreal products, but how could this product ever pass any kind of Quality standard? My brand new pencil is unusable now because it will not sharpen!! I would like a refund as I was sold a product that is unusable after only a few uses. I can buy a pencil at the dollar store that sharpens better than this one!!!

Terrible Infallible Pro Last eyeliner pencil
I thought this was a twist up eyeliner pencil. I do not have a sharpener! Why wouldn’t you include that with the product? What a rip off after less than a week’s use and this was not an inexpensive product! Shame on you L’Oreal!

Best eyeliner!
Thiis the best eyeliner! Was using an expensive one until someone on Instagram mentioned this one in brown. I use it on the top eyelashes slightly wink with a brush, and also tight line. On the bottom lashes I wear the bronze and wow! Best bronze for brown eyes. Last until I take it off. I use a small sharpener and have no problem sharpening it. Love!

L’Oreal infallible eyeliner had no product in it
What the heck? I just bought this and used it about five times and it won’t crank up anymore eyeliner! I have had this kind before and it has lasted for months and months and this lasted a week? I think I got a faulty one this is not acceptable for a company like L’Oreal. Very frustrating.

YOu cannot sharpen this pencil. IF you try it just eats it up. It chewed up the end the first time I sharpened it , leaving me with less than half the pencil left. Poor designe of plastic casing causes it to be a huge waste

What happened?? This product used to be self-advancing and is now just smoke, mirrors and trickery. I don't own a pencil sharpener because I DON'T BUY EYELINERS THAT CAN'T SHARPEN THEMSELVES. I will be switching brands and not looking back to this waste.

Very disappointed
Great color, but as many other shave stated, the pencil does not advance on it's own nor is there a way to advance the pencil. It'd too bad, because I love the violet color. It's only good for about 7-10 applications. Absolutely not worth the money.

Pencils impossible to sharpen
I loved this product when I first tried it. However, only about an inch of the pencil is usable then it becomes impossible to sharpen when you get to the part of the pencil with writing on it. I tried 3 different eye pencil sharpeners, including the Loreal Infallible sharpener specifically made for these. The pencil breaks and comes off in large chunks. Totally worthless.

Sharpening Blues
I love this eyeliner. I use it for the liner and for my brows as it stays on ALL DAY! unfortunately when it comes time to sharpening. You end up losing half the pencil trying to get to eyeliner. As a single mother on a budget I can't afford the $10. Every week to get a new one. I've been forced to find something else.
I wish L'Oreal would change the casing. Since this seems to be everyone's only issue. 😞

Never buy this item
I did love the product until the initial point was used (about 4 uses). All of the questions posted are asking the same thing, how to sharpen. Per Loreal, you use an eye pencil sharpener which I tried. After breaking thru the plastic on the tip, my point was less than pointy, more broken, uneven and not able to use. What a waste of money, I would like to have my money back.

Can’t sharpen it.
I liked how nicely this went on and lasted without smudging.
But after a week the point was getting full and there was no way to sharpen it. My regular eye sharpener just caused it to splinter scratching my eyelid in the process.
What a waste of money.

Difficult but good
Nice product, difficult to sharpen and you need to be sure the casing isn't too sharp when finished. I do like how it stays on without smudging. It last the day through which for me is worth the hassle. I'm halfway thru and trying to decide if I should purchase again.

This is a waste of money. There is no way to push more product out. Turning the end does nothing. The Q&A only mentions sharpening with a sharpener, but there is not enough of the eyeliner sticking out to sharpen. I was only able to use it about 5 times and now it's garbage.

Can't sharpen so used it only for 1 week
the package didn't indicate how to get more out of the tip/crayon so I assumed it was either twist or sharpen type. Even thought the bottom twists, nothing happened. Had to look through quite a bit of reviews and L'orieal pages to find out that you need an industrial-grade eye pencil sharpener. Total waste of my money, my first for the L'oreal products which I usually love.

Do not buy. Try another eyeliner.
I had high hopes for this eyeliner. Purchased the cobalt blue and grey shade. They do not hold a tip well and need to be sharpened often. At that point the tip always breaks off. Do not waste your money on these products. Very disappointing.

I agree with the other reviews. You cannot sharpen the pencil with a standard eye make-up sharpener.
I could only use the pencil 8 times before it flattened out, making it impossible to use again! Who designed this product?

Too expensive to work less that 2 weeks!
I cannot advance the pencil. It has a sharp point when bought but after that point is gone the pencil won’t move. This is an e pensive product to have it only last about 2weeks. Very disappointed in the product, but love the color 950 Grey Gris

Poor design- will never buy this again
Like so many others, I bought this loved the color and the application then couldn’t sharpen it. Such a waste money for a liner that you can only use a couple times. I tried with a brand new sharpener and light pressure as they keep recommending to others. The plastic casing comes out jagged and the tip breaks off. You would think with thousands of reviews like this the company would issue a recall or offer a refund and redesign the mechanics of this pencil. You can’t blame user error on the thousands of bad reviews. This tells you that the design is flawed. L’Oréal, if you stand by your products and care about your customers you will make this right. There are too many negative reviews.

It is fallable.
Tip broke off. When I bought it I didn't notice it was a pencil. There is a hard plastic coating on it. I couldn't sharpen it. Had to use a Cutco knife. Every time I sharpened it the soft tip would break off. It's a shame because the eyeliner stays on and doesn't smudge. Too bad.

Terrible design
Spent even more money on a brand new sharpener, it doesn't work. Very disappointed as I loved the color. More disappointed that the company's only response is that people are sharpening it wrong. Only lasts a week or two.

It is unfortunate the pencil itself is so poorly made. The eyeliner is great but it is not worth the money or frustration, as sharpening does not work. I have tried multiple sharpeners, the problem is the hard plastic casing.

This is a terrible eye pencil. I bought it another time before and it does the same thing you can’t even sharpen it. I really don’t know. I thought it was when you turn in the lead with the whatever it is would come up, but it doesn’t so I went to sharpen it and made it worse, maybe you need to change this pencil I’m not the only one that says that. If I were you, I tried to look into this. I buy multiple items of L’Oreal hair, eyeliner mascara whatever I really like this company, but I really don’t like this pencil.

Broken trust
I was duped by the L’Oréal company with this eyeliner! Who reads the tiny print that a special or brand new sharpener is required. On top of that, specific technique to sharpen. Tried it and now I have a brand new pencil and sharpener that do me no good. Not sure when I’ll trust another L’Oréal product.

Hard to sharpen.
Loreal is my go to for "drug store" makeup products and I am usually never disappointed, however, the Infallible Pro Last pencil eyeliner was a huge fail for me. The first time I used it, I loved the color (840 Bronze) and the fact that it stayed all day. The second time I went to sharpen it was when I had the problem. I tried three different sharpeners and nothing worked. I got kind of a point but the plastic pencil part was rough and jagged and actually scratched my eye. The pencil became short as I was attempting to sharpen it. Total waste of money in these hard times. $10 for one use! Please Loreal do better with this product.

A good long wearing eye liner----but its horrible and Loreal should be ashamed of selling this product because it can not be sharpened!!! They say it can but it comes out jagged on the plastic pencil and you lose a lot of the product while trying to sharpen. I threw it away after it lost the point. Really Loreal you can't do better than this? For the cost of the eyeliner we should not have this much trouble sharpening it. Just about every review mentions this.

Need a mechanical version of Pro-Last liner.
I love the Pro-Last eye liner but like every review I have read having to sharpen it is a problem. Sometimes when sharpening it will leave a jagged edge that scratches my eye. Considering the negative reviews about sharpening, would it be possible to make one that is mechanical. So much easier. I don't want to have to change but I may have to. Please don't reply with needing a better sharpener. Already done that. Thank you.

Difficult to keep sharp
I love this liner but will no longer buy it because sharpening is an issue. I get about 4-5 uses then it goes too low and the plastic outer layer makes it difficult to sharpen. Why not just turn the bottom to lengthen the liner??

Super difficult to sharpen this pencil. the product stays on throughout the day, but you can't use the whole pencil as you waste it trying to sharpen it. It is expensive for what you get out of it. I will not be purchasing this again.

Crumbling mess
I love the color and texture of this eyeliner, however I’m constantly having to buy one because each time that I sharpen it, it crumbles away. I purchased a new a sharpener, hoping that that would alleviate the problem, but the sharpener isn’t a problem it’s the actual product.

LOVE LOVE the Forest Green but don't sell anymore?
Ok, so after finding a pencil sharpener that worked on the Infallible Pro-Last pencil I was so excited because it works so well. I am now disappointed that I cannot find Forest Green anywhere and it looks like I cannot purchase directly from L'Oreal. Saw ONE selling on a very popular online resale site for $25 plus $10 for shipping. That's crazy. Has L'Oreal stopped making the Forest Green?! NOOO, don't stop making it! Obviously the color is pretty popular. This product works very well for staying on all day and not wearing off, but the color is important and here they are the too things together in one pencil that can't be found.

CANNOT SHARPEN - USE ALLEN WRENCH & HAMMER
You cannot sharpen this with a make-up sharpener - No Way - We tried two different ones. ***Instead: Pull the cap off of the base of the pencil. Insert an allen wrench. Pound the allen wrench with a hammer and the eyeliner will scoot up so you can use more.

Fix the defective application pencil.
Great when new but I expect more than 4 uses! Why not make this to where it can be twisted and sharpened? I have bought this 2 times, thinking the first one was defective. You really need to rethink this problem. This would be a great product if you fix this defect.
