It’s the shimmery makeover you didn’t know your brows needed.
October 28, 2022

Glitter eyebrows, also widely known as disco brows on social media, is the viral beauty trend that deserves a spot in your holiday makeup routine. The look spotlights fluffy, well-groomed brows with a layer of ultra-fine shimmer to create a light-catching luminosity. The best part is, disco brows are easily achieved with your go-to brow gel and your favorite shimmery eyeshadow or highlighter.

If you’re just as smitten with this look as we are, check out our disco brow tutorial and our favorite products for nailing this viral look.

What Are Disco Brows?

Sparkly eyebrows, or disco brows, according to Instagram influencers, are groomed, sleek eyebrows with a visible, shimmery glow. Whether it’s to make a statement with your day makeup, switch up your current beauty routine, or dazzle your holiday party, this viral beauty trend is the perfect blend of festive and wearable makeup.

While most social media viral trends tend to be gimmicky and even slightly difficult to achieve, (we’re looking at you, tape contouring) this one is simple, quick to execute and flatters many.

3-Step Metallic Eyebrow Tutorial

Move over ‘90s skinny brows, this glittery enhancement is our favorite way to upgrade our arches. While the name suggests something with blatant sparkles and intense shimmer, the look is subdued and dare we say, quite subtle. Check out our tutorial to achieve the viral disco brows in three easy steps.

1. Use Clear Brow Gel to Set Your Brows

Disco brows are meant to look fluffy, clean and sculpted. Start with a clear brow gel like the L’Oréal Paris Unbelieva-Brow Longwear Brow Topcoat, Waterproof Universal Transparent. This waterproof gel has a quick dry formula and lasts up to 30-hours. Not only is it a great base for disco brows but the long-wearing formula is sure to last through many a holiday party.

2. Apply the Shimmer

Once your brow gel has dried, it’s time to apply the shimmer and that can be done with a few different products. Disco brows have a luminous glow, not a chunky glitter finish so it’s best to use a shimmery pressed powder like eyeshadow or highlighter to achieve the look.

For a glowing shimmer that can flatter a number of different makeup looks, we recommend the L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadow in Petite Perle, a shimmery white eyeshadow. Lightly swirl your index finger in the eyeshadow and gently dab it onto your brows. The gel should create a sticky base that the powder can adhere to.

For something even subtler, choose a shimmery eyeshadow that’s similar to your hair color. A luminous brown eyeshadow like the L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadow in Quartz Fume on top of brown eyebrows will create the most gorgeous and understated, light-catching finish.

For a bolder disco brow, try an iridescent or chrome powder. The L’Oréal Paris Shimmer Liquid Eye Shadow Makeup in String of Pearls is a great pick and has a duo-chrome, shimmery white finish. Apply some of the eyeshadow to your finger and lightly dab it onto your brows.

Editor’s tip: To tone down your disco brows, take your brow pencil of choice and create hairline strokes on top of the glitter to break it up. Our top pick is the L’Oréal Paris Brow Stylist Definer Mechanical Waterproof Eyebrow Pencil.

3. Finish Your Makeup With Setting Spray

Once your makeup is complete, misting your face with setting spray is a must to lock in your glam and most importantly, your shimmery, disco brows. Take the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Spray and Set Make-Up Oil-Free Setting Spray, holding it six to eight inches away from your face and spray it four to six times in an ‘X’ and ‘T’ motion.
