Product doesn't live up to the 24 hour wear, waterproof and smudge resistant. I am lucky if I get a couple of hour of wear before I look like a racoon.

Very disappointed!
I finally found an eyeliner that was mechanical, fine tipped (but smudgeable), waterproof, and did a decent job staying on all day. I was so please with it that I went out and bought several tubes so I would have it at home, at each of my offices, in my travel bag and in work-out kit. Quite an investment!
Unfortunately, within a few weeks of buying the one I use the most had turned hard and dry. It not only broke off within the tube, but would no longer even make a mark, much less go on smoothly. And now some of my less-used pencils are starting to do the same thing. What a waste! Clearly there's something wrong with this formula and I'm very disappointed that Loreal didn't test it more thoroughly before putting it out in the market.

Not Recommended
The one make up item I must always wear is eyeliner. I always use a mechanical pencil eyeliner. I purchased this one and it seemed dried out. I thought I might have just got an old one so I purchased another and it was great for about a week. Then completely dry again. I wondered if something happened during the manufacturing process but I won't waste my money trying a 3rd one. Very disappointed!

Waste of money
I bought this at CVS a few days ago and I wish I had kept my receipt & product packaging. Color doesn’t go on very well, doesn’t smudge well, almost like it was already old or dried out. Don’t waste your money on this one.

Worst eyeliner
This eyeliner is dry and crumbles. I just purchased it last week and decided to try it this morning. It barely deposited any color and as I was attempting to line my lower lash it broke. I thought maybe the tip was dry so I tried again, it broke. I'm so mad I wasted money on this garbage product.

I have used LOREAL products faithfully for over 30 years-this eyeliner is so very disappointing. It is so dry and pulls skin on lids to apply it and the crayon falls out of the pen-! I suggest you do not buy this one-

POOR PRODUCT
This eyeliner dries out way too quickly. I cannot use it without first slid it across chapstick. It just will not put color on my eyelid. Constantly breaking. I like the idea of a sharpener at the end of pencil but does no good when pencil is broken. Too much of a hassel. Spend a little extra money of something that actually works.

Not infallible
I cannot get this to deposit color on my eyes/lids! It absolutely will not line my eyes. I've tried with different types of shadows and it just doesn't work. Wish I would have read reviews before buying this one

Used to love, not so much now!
I have always used this liner. Bought some about two months ago and it dried out within a week of using. Went and bought another one about two weeks ago and it broke off as soon as I tried using it. I went through the whole tube in a week! Of course because this is my favorite , I bought yet another one (should not have needed to yet). Same thing happened! Broke off every single time I went to use it. Now its over half way home and I need yet another one. Not sure if the formula was changed recently but please fix before I switch to a different brand.

Totally Fallible!
Bought 2 pencils because I had previously used L'Oreal's 'old fashioned' eyeliner pencils that could be sharpened. First, the eyeliner would not come out when the case was swiveled; same thing happened with the second pencil. The store where purchased replaced the pencils. After several uses, the liner would not apply to the eyelid. The liner lead tip had to be wiped or cleaned before it could be used. The lead cannot be sharpened. Finally, the eyeliner lead falls out of the pencil case! It's a poorly made pencil.

Disappointed
So disappointed with the pencil aspect of this product. No way to sharpen because the outside casing is like trying to sharpen a wood log. The actual liner product is so soft it falls apart when trying to sharpen. Works great when first purchased because it comes already sharpen. A total waste of money afterwards☹️

Smudges, but impossible to remove!
It looks good when you first apply it, but mid-day it gets all smudgy. When it's time to actually remove the make IT DOES NOT COME OFF!!! I tried soap, cleaners and multiple makeup removers. It just impossible to get rid off. Takes me 3 washes before it actually clears off my eyes.

I am so disappointed in this eyeliner! I bought the deep brown thinking I would have something that went on easily and stayed on long. NO chance, because the eyeliner will NOT go on skin! I tried it on multiple friends/family members - no color, no matter how hard the pressure was. It will only write on paper! What a waste of my money!

High Hopes
I purchased this yesterday, thinking that gel would be slick and easy - I've tried twice, and it just doesn't glide for me at all....usually Loreal delivers, but for me, not this time. But ~ I also purchased the Telescopic Carbon Black Mascara. It was an instant match...my lashes are just average, and this mascara does a great job. I just felt so pretty after I applied it. Is there a way to return the eyeliner? Thank you so much.

Very unhappy with this product.
I bought this liner with high expectations. I am so disappointed! It has a very strange consistency which doesn't allow it to spread very well. I practically have to tear my face off trying to get it applied. Very unhappy!!

Infallible longwear eye pencil
I am very disappointed in the quality and performance of this product. The first time I used it the tip went very flat and too broad for an eye liner. With each use, the tip gets even flatter and now completely unusable after only 3 or 4 attempts at application. I usually buy L'Oréal products as they usually stand up for quality, but not this one.

Very Disappointed !
I just purchased two Matte-Matic pencils tonight and couldn’t wait to try them. The tip broke off the first one as soon as I applied it. The second one was empty! No lead was in the tube. I am returning them to Walmart tomorrow.

Very uncomfortable application
This is the worst eye liner I have ever purchased. I am very disappointed in this product. First, when I bought it, the whole eye liner pencil core fell out. Second, application was not smooth at all. It would not glide on to my eye lid. I had to apply a lot of pressure to get it to go on my lid. Also, it was not dark or a smooth line over my lid. This eyeliner is not worth spending the money on. I won't be buying Loreal eye products in the future.

omg please do not buy this
I bought this just 5 minutes ago. I was so horrified at how unusable this product was I decided to write this review.
Overall, the pencil is so dry and it cannot be applied to the eye and as I keep trying to make it work it literally crumbles.

Horrible Eye Liner
As a loyal customer of L'Oreal products, I was expecting this to be of the same quality I usually experience with L'Oreal. However, it is not the case with this eyeliner. It worked okay for a while, but it's now so dry it is painful to apply. I would definitely not recommend this eyeliner.

This pencil is complete junk. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. It is impossible to use this pencil without it crumbling to pieces - that's whether you are applying it to your eye or just trying to sharpen the pencil. I will never buy another loreal product again.

Worst Eyeliner I've ever used - - -
All my makeup is Loreal - also all haircare products & color all Loreal - - have been for many for years ! I thought I'd try this Matte-Matic Liner and bought two. I have never ever had such a horrible eyeliner in my life - - Since I bought 2, I thought maybe the problems were with just the one - - nope, the second one was just as bad. These liners' point crumbles when using them, ending up with a chunk of liner pencil on your eye, they don't go on smooth at all and yes, skip over your skin pulling it because they are dry. Due to this fact, if you get the liner on at all, it is thick, crumbly and uneven. And it hurts - - very disappointed since I invested in two liners. Am hoping Loreal can rectify this since I am a solid Loreal consumer !

This like most other L'Oréal liners smudges to your under eye so quick and easily . Usually you can wipe it away and make it work , not with this one! Try rubbing the run off and I think because it's matte it just makes your under eye look black ! I was so happy for about 30 second at how smooth it was to apply but then instantly under my eye. Maybe this product would work for somebody who doesn't moisturize at all . On the other hand they make the best BB Cream

I got this product a while ago. However, I'm disappointed considering that I was barely able to use it. The first time was alright. Every time after that, the tip kept breaking off. Also, the color started to have issues appearing. It wasn't a smooth application that I would have liked. You had to keep on rubbing it on your eyelid before it faintly appeared.

I bought this 3 weeks ago knowing how great L'Oréal products are. I didn't read all the reviews regarding this item. At first the eyeliner does go on smoothly, but as you keep lining your eye it starts to hurt. The eyeliner goes on very dry and it tugs your skin. I have tryed using the eyeliner several times and it just won't work for me. It hurts and tugs your skin as you try to line your eyes. Such a waste of money. I love L'Oréal products but I can't recommend this product.

Impressed, but breaks easily
I bought this eyeliner 2 days ago and went to use it yesterday. As soon as I went to apply it, the pointed crayon immediately broke on my eyelid. I tried to apply again, and more of the liner broke. After a few minutes of being frustrated I tried a third time and was able to apply it without it breaking. Once I got it applied, I liked it (with the exception that the liner was now way too thick of a line on my eyelid due to it breaking while applying). It did not smudge at all throughout the day. It is a little difficult to get off so you don't want to mess up applying it. Pros: once it goes on, it looks nice. Cons: breaks easily which wastes the liner and hard to remove

Love this liner BUT it does dry out
I am on my second tube of Matte-Matic in dark brown. I LOVED the liner at first. Goes on slick and dark...but after a while the first tube got very dry and would barely go on my eye. Once it was gone I bought a new tube and, again, it's great. Hopefully I go through this tube before it gets dry

I bought this eyeliner without reading any reviews and was too confident that it is going to work well. I regret so much buying this eyeliner, so hard to apply on, not much color appeared and it is very patchy giving my eyes horrible looks. Besides that, the eyeliners breaks while I was applying them, now I basically have half of it left after giving it several tries. AND it smudges so quickly. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Smudges & Difficult to Apply
I have tried this eyeliner a couple of times...thinking it would get better with each try. Unfortunately, it didn't. It's difficult to use and it smudges. While trying to apply, pieces break off as though it's made of clay. It does't go on smoothly and I had to scrape my lids, moving side to side to get any liner to stick. After 2 tries, I gave up.

Horrible
I was looking for a matte grey liner and was happy to find this one. It said gel formula. It's like cement; not creamy at all. The package claims there is a built in sharpener but not on mine. Pinpoint light shows the cap is empty and the blunt tip of the liner proves that. I'm so disappointed.

I bought this a week ago and am very disappointed in this product. It is very difficult to apply. It's dry and you have to use a lot of pressure, which is painful on the eyelid. I will have to throw this away, and absolutely do NOT recommend.

Trying to apply this eyeliner actually hurt my eyelid. It doesn't glide on the skin at all. I contacted L'Oreal, and they sent me a refund (use quickly, only good for 3 months). I appreciate the refund, but now I see all the terrible reviews, so I know that it wasn't just me. I really hope they cancel this liner, seems like a waste of time and money.

Can't get it to work!
I have tried this several times...straight on, on a slant...before eye shadow...after eye shadow. It just won't apply to my upper or lower eyelids!! It will work on my hand (bony/harder structure under skin. But on soft skin, even when stretched, it will not apply.

I bought this eyeliner about a month and a half ago the only way I can use it is on my bottom eye. My product did break by looking at the packaging I thought that it would go on differently the packaging was misleading I was looking for a liner to go on top And this is not an eyeliner for that

Impossible to apply. Hard and dry. Breaks off in little tiny pieces.. So not only is it impossible to use, little bits of product get all over the floor and I have to crawl around and look for them so they won't mark up my carpet.

While I love the navy matte color, this just didn't make the cut for me!! This supposed liner does NOT feel like a gel, smooth application liner........it's very DRY & SKIPS and leaves tons of flakes falling into my eyes and down my cheeks...This is a 1st in liners to do this for me......really wanted this to work.

Dried up quickly
I purchased this at CVS a few months ago. I love the idea of retractable eyeliner. (Sharpening seems like such a waste.) This produce worked well for about a month, and then dried up to the point of being unusable. (I kept it covered and in a drawer.) Very disappointed...I won't purchase this eyeliner again, even though it was relatively inexpensive. (Maybe you get what you pay for....)

Truly the matte I was looking for, HOWEVER, everytime I used this pencil the tip broke off AT LEAST once. It was literally a waste of money. The last straw for me had to be watching the last piece break off MID-APPLICATION while I was getting ready for work this morning. I'd have to agree with the last review in saying that the formula just isn't quite right. It isn't smooth or creamy enough, which is why it breaks so easily, and takes so much effort to apply. Though I loved the outcome (not without effort) the issues I had just weren't worth it. Very disappointed.

If you're looking for a matte eyeliner, this is not the one for you. I love L'Oreal's eyebrow pencils, so I assumed their eyeliners would be just as amazing. I'm going to give this company the benefit of the doubt here and hope that this formula is so terrible because it's a matte and that their regular formulas are much better, but this eyeliner was just awful. It pulls your eyelid, even when you're pulling your eyelid taut, creating unevenness and spaces. It took me about 5-6 minutes to apply this stuff to just one eye! I will admit it is smudge resistant, since I tried to smudge the liner across my eyelid to fill in the spots it just would not cover the first 6 times I tried, and this stuff would not budge. Very cool concept since I will jump at anything and everything matte, however this product has left my eyes sore and irritated trying to apply it. Don't waste your money or your time, stick with their regular formula if you're a dedicated customer or try a different brand.

I really love this eyeliner! Then again I love most of your make-up and hair care products! This eyeliner goes on very smooth for a nice even glide! You don't have to worry about sharpening it and it has lasted me a really long time. This is one of the only drugstore brands I use for my makeup!
