Not one gray was dyed but my time and money was wasted, you shouldn't be allowed to make money off of selling a product that is absolutely useless, I use your hair dye loreal excellence and it works great but I will figure out another brand based off this experience

Turned my hair orange
I used the medium brown and it turned my roots orange/brown. I followed the instructions and now need to get it fixed. Looks horrible. Will never use again.

Great Color Coverage BUT Spreads- TOO too drippy
I have used the 9 color several times and I do really like the coverage and how long it lasts however it is incredibly thin and liquidy what that means is after a few minutes of application it starts to drip down as in my intention of covering the roots of a half inch slides to full inch or more- since this is permanent, I’m sure that means it is going over my old hair that does not to be need to be recolored. I am aftaid of causing extra damage. The quantity in the container is small so it only covers my crown area. I had to get this three stars because I cannot use it knowing that it will color my already colored hair by spreading, which will cause a lot of damage if they could make the formula thicker so it would not drip like crazy that would help. I also put thick conditioner on the rest of my hair dry that is not colored so that it will not wash into my longer blond strands at rinse out. I am a dedicated at home Hair Colorist so I have used numerous formulas over the last 35 years. I don’t recall using one that spreads so quickly. over untreated hair.

Easy Application, Amazing Results
I am so impressed with this product. I have been tinting my hair for decades. More often than not, I have been disappointed with the results as my natural base is medium brown and I have tried to color it everything from red to blonde. I have finally decided to embrace my natural color and color my grays. This does amazing. To be honest, I have a short pixi, so the product comtains just enough product to color my hair. The results are shiny and natural looking. I use Medium Ash Brown and it provides a medium/dark brown result.

Didn’t work
It’s a waste of money. Finally got around to coloring a few strands that are gray at my roots. I guess it’s true that it does color the gray hair 100% “during application”, because once this product is washed out, my gray roots were right there pointing and laughing at me. I wish this had worked because it was so very easy to use.

Quality has gone down
I was going to use my blonde root rescue tonight…the same one I have used for years…and to my surprise (not in a good way) the color was RED! Thank goodness I have use this many times before; otherwise, I would’ve ended up with red roots and blonde hair. This is not acceptable. And the worst part is I bought it a couple months ago and I don’t even have a receipt to return it.

First time to try this. I left it on for 20 minutes and it didn't cover my grays. Not sure if 30 minutes would have done the trick.

It was ok, but disappointed.
I was really hoping the I really got 100% gray coverage like the box said, but sadly I did not. I did leave the product in for 15 minutes instead of just 10 minutes. Yes it did cove many of the gray roots, but not the ones around my face which tends to fade the fastest.

Reddish color in a medium blond box
There was a reddish color in my medium blond root Root Rescue. Returning it and very disappointed. My trust in L’Oreal hair color products has been broken. Unfortunate because they are usually top quality and best of the boxed colors. Guess I’m going to Clairol now.

Wrong color
I had the same problem today as I see many others have had. When I mixed the colors for Medium Blond Root Rescue, the color was red. I am not using it and will return it back to the drug store. Usually this is a great product. Disappointing this happened. Now L’Oreal has lost my trust. Guess I’ll be going to Clairol.

Scary
I bought magic root rescue for light blonde shades, same as I always do. The product is red! I did not put on my hair, because I know what colors it is supposed to be. Instead I tried to call, but not open on Sunday, so came right to the website and see that others have had the same complaint. Some put on their hair as I almost did. What is going on??

Love the product but this one box did not mix righ
I have been a long time user of Root Rescue #4! I love the product and saves me tons of $$. However, when i went to color my hair the other night, the mixed color was COMPLETELY wrong. I grabbed another box and it was normal cream color in bottle.

Wrong colour in bottle
I have used this brand before with pretty good results but this time my roots turned a reddish brown vs blonde. I purchased the same colour as always (medium blonde)…and applied it as instructed. Something was different this time…either the formula has changed or perhaps the colour in the bottle got mixed up because there was no blonde this time. Instead of getting a quick root touch up…I have to quickly book an appointment at the hair salon to fix it. I don’t think I will use this product again.

Dark Brown
What! How is this not 5 stars! My colorist can’t even get my roots to match! This is amazing for dark brown hair! I usually end up with a black ring near my root line and auburn roots. If you have dark brown hair, this is the BEST.

Wrong Product in Box
I have been using this product a lot since the pandemic and love the way it works! But I’m finding that they are putting the wrong product in the boxes of number 9, which is supposed to be lightest blonde but it’s clearly red! Thankfully I didn’t mistakenly put that on my hair not realizing it shouldn’t look that color. I bought 2 boxes recently both from the same store at the same time and I have long hair, so I need both boxes and ended up only having one to use, quite frustrating. Didn’t get the finished look I wanted because I didn’t have the second box for enough product to thoroughly cover all my roots, plus the cost of the product. It isn’t expensive, but I don’t care to keep purchasing something that ends up in the garbage!
I really love this product, so please get the right ones in the boxes. I’m rather nervous to purchase again, for fear it won’t be the right color I put on my head. I’m platinum blonde, so it would be super easy to screw my hair up using the wrong color. I also noticed the box I did use didn’t seem to provide great coverage this time, even to the areas I did cover thoroughly, so wondering if there was even color mixed in the bottle I used? Questioning whether it’s worth using again at this point. Truly disappointed, it was perfect before.

Poor quality control
I was pleased with this product in the past- but this time it left my roots dark brown. I have blonde hair and purchased med blonde. I believe the box was labeled incorrectly. I definitely will not purchase again. Thank goodness my hairdresser was available to repair the damage.

Ash brown helpful hints
I love this product for inbetween professional color appointments and to extends my color longer (which saves $$$). But I have been given a few helpful tips from my colorist at the salon. And it might be helpful for others too. I am a light to medium brunette with very little red under tones in my hair and platinum gray around my face and temple area. So my colorist told me to go with a lighter color and use an ash as a base (I buy light ash brown) and to also buy the next color shade up (medium ash brown ) . When mixing (the light ash brown package) add just a bit (drops) of the next shade (med. ash brn.) in the mix (color gel only)…
Apply to roots and let set. I have platinum grey roots so I have to leave the mix on longer than it calls for… (even at my salon they have to leave the colorant on the maximum time to get it to take to my roots) I rinse, shampoo and condition after and then wait 48 hours (to let the color set) and then start washing regularly. With the exception of new growth of gray hair it holds just enough to get me to my next appointment.
I only gave this a 4 stars, because I can not find the light ash brown anywhere. This is so disappointing. So I’m experimenting with different shades and products. I find the light brown (6) and golden brown (6G) is too light and doesn’t cover or it puts a fake red tone left my hair. And Going with medium ash brown fully is too dark to match at the salon. I end up having to recolor my whole head of hair.

Color has already faded and greys are back.
Target was out of my usual Clairol Root Touch-Up, so I purchased this. I only had about 1/2" of growth to cover, plus a few light greys. The color came out nice, and matched well, but less than a week later it's back to where it was. Greys are back (and they're not stubborn or resistant to color) so money and time wasted.

#9 color variance
I’ve been a long time user of this product but have now experienced twice where the color in the box is red so I wind up throwing it away. I bought 2 boxes recently both from the same store and have attached a picture to show the difference in color when I went to use them. Why would the colors be different? I don’t like throwing away money and have now had to toss 2 boxes like this.

barely covers, more product needed
I’ll be straight I love the product and the packaging but there’s hardly enough product to do the job you’ll need at least 2 packs and by that time you might as well just purchase the full kit of a regular dye.I will still use this but wish the manufacturer would put enough in one bottle to do the job once instead of ruining the environment with extra waste. this product lightens in colour by about 3 shades in just 3-4 weeks. That aside the brush adapter system is genius and I wish all the regular kits had this.

Disappointed
I bought this to cover up the grey in my part and hairline on the sides of my face. Really not a lot of grey, just trying to make it to my next hair color appointment. There is some coverage on my part however, barely any along the hairline. So disappointed

Labeled incorrectly
Are you all aware that the labeling on your Magic Root components are backwards? The color Gel is labeled “2” but the instructions call it 1, and the Developer is labeled “1” but is described as 2 in the instructions. Has no one ever caught this?

40% coverage at best
I used the number 4 dark brown and left it on for 15 min instead of the suggested 10 min and went over my part and around my face several times. It didn't cover much. Contacted customer service and that was even worst than the color!

Not pleased
The gloves were difficult to put on. The smell was not pleasant. The bristles were tough and the solution did not come out smoothly instead it was drippy cause I had to squeeze so hard. The color was okay but not great. Used the soft black, it’s not a soft color, looks fake. I will not buy again.

Not buying this again after using it for years
I've been using this for years, but I'm going to stop buying it after the last couple of boxes. The packaging has gotten so bad that it's not very usable anymore. The amount of dye in the root cover up is so small that I could barely cover my part and my temples this time, let alone actually cover any other roots that show since my hair is short. The gloves in the box are now actually unusable. They stick to your hands and the fingers are narrow and you can't get the gloves on (and I'm small with small hands.). The root cover up product itself is actually fine and does cover up well, but the packaging is now so bad that the whole kit is not usable.
