Application instructions:

L’Oréal Root Magic Blonde Hair with Dark Roots

I’ve been using this root cover for about a year and it’s the best hair color I’ve ever used!!! I was a true strawberry blonde before I started going gray. Then not only did I get white hair around my face but gray hairs throughout AND dark roots. I can very lightly spritz this color all over my hair - not just roots - quickly brush it thru and my hair looks great! Almost as good as before I started loosing my color. Better than any other color I’ve used. Feels clean and looks perfectly natural. And I use only a little. Truly magic!

This product reminds me of the spray in Halloween hair dye. It is sticky and gross. You can’t run your fingers thorough your hair without feeling the funk and seeing it all over your hands, fingers, and nails. It does somewhat cover the grays if you are desperate and need a quick fix to hide them in a styled updo.

I want to leave an outstanding review on this product. I’m so afraid they will discontinue it and I’ve never found anything that works so good on my hair. I was a true strawberry blonde all my life until I started to gray. NOTHING covered the gray or looked like my natural hair color till this came along. And it’s so easy. I just lightly spritz it on and brush it thru and it looks so natural. Love it love it love it!!!

Got some blonde highlights with no fuss

I’m in my 70’s and have natural gray fine thin hair. The back has brassiness but it blends rather nicely, however the sides and top are gray. My complexion is not suited for gray around my face. I wanted a simple fix that would not involve hair dyes. I had used similar products before to cover roots when I used hair color. I used this product once and am sold! Sprayed it lightly on the sides and combed thru my locks, let it dry then fluffed it out. Really looks natural and gives my complexion the lift I wanted.

I received this product complimentary to test; it mildly worked but was a very uncomfortable texture and unnatural look. Ive seen the tik toks where blondes go brunette with the product, so there could be potential with the brunette color version.

Color didn’t match-otherwise still just okay

I tried this product free thanks to influenster back when I was blonde. Since I didnt get to pick the color, it did not match-however I didnt take any stars off for that as I couldnt pick the color. I was surprised how well it covered my roots, but I have a hard time believing it could get dark roots as light as it claims. It doesnt feel heavy at all, but it does leave a little residue kind of like if you have too much dry shampoo in.

Our products have been tested to have at least a 3-year shelf life if unopened and stored at normal room temperature, during which they will retain their integrity and perform as expected. If your product looks and smells the way it normally does, it is good to use.
  Certain products, for example sunscreens, may have an expiration date printed on the product.

My hair would be considered to match the dark blonde spray. Since my roots are black, that spray alone wouldn't work. Would you recommend using one of these as a base first, then dark blonde on top? If so, which one?

I have been using magic retouch light blonde for a while. I bought a new spray and the colour is completely different - very yellow! Has the original been renamed? Please tell me It was great, this is awful!

This is a temporary product that will wash from the hair when it is shampooed. For best results Shake well before using, keep the product upright and apply on dry and clean hair. Be sure that you hold can approx. 6 inches from hair. Spray roots in a light stream. Don't overspray. A small amount is enough. We hope that this information is helpful.

The color was dark, brassy, and almost orange-ish and did not blend well. It immediately made my hair look greasy, as you can see in the picture. Even after attempting to brush it through, my hair looked very dirty and wet almost. I do have fine hair so it could just be a texture issue? I was able to pull it back and mix in some dry shampoo and did attempt to wear it for a day while working from home/running errands to see if it got better once it was warmed on the scalp/blown out by the wind. Unfortunately, it did not. I even began to sweat it out as the day went on. I LOVE LOral products, and strictly purchase all of my shampoo/conditioner/boxed dyes from their lines, however I would not ever purchase this item in the future. It simply wasnt for me. I will continue using their other blonde-concentrated products though, and would recommend those products (EverPure, boxed dyes, etc.) as alternatives if you had a poor experience with this product as well.

It does wash out rather easily like those spray hair color cans during Halloween. I do think it is just a better formulated one of those. However, it kinda reminded me of dry shampoo a bit, it doesnt just magically make your hair that shade it more or so just mixes with your hair color. It does take a long time to dry so you cant just use it immediately before going out. Lastly, I would not recommend using if you have a balayage since it does kinda make it look a little weird even if the balayage was growing out.

This product is a decent product when in a pinch, or in our case, on quarantine and unable to go to the salon. This product is easy to apply, but the biggest downside is that it takes so long to dry. It washes out easily which is also a huge plus. Overall this product is great if you can't actually touch up your roots!

But I thought it was amazing, I used it to put some highlights in my hair and it really works. The only thing I didnt like was the aerosol smell, it kinda took my breath away. But other than that I will continue to buy for my ever changing hair color to add some extra highlights or to touch up my roots when I go back to blonde.

I tried to remove the clog but nothing worked. So when it functioned properly, it was easy to blend and very seamless coverage. I have a balayage and the light blonde was nice to lighten up my roots. Sadly I could only use it once before the sprayer stopped working. Oh well, hope everyone else had better luck!

It's perfect to use when you start to need to go back to your hair dresser but maybe can't for a few weeks, this will save you! It does last a few days and application is fairly easy. I will definitely still use it, however, I recommend not leaving it in your hair for more than 12 hours.

Rated 5 out of 5 by goryess from Amazing I love the way this smells. It is fresh & not too heavy (unless you spray too close or too much). It is so easy to use & convenient when you're in a rush. I wish it had a bit more coverage but I don't mind too much since it gets the job done until I can touch up my roots. Will definitely purchase when I run out.

The packaging was nice and the instructions were simple. It definitely covered my roots, just not in a shade/tone that blended with the rest of my hair. It went on in a very golden brassy time, which is something I try to avoid as a blonde. It also made my scalp where my part is very gold. Maybe I should have tried the light blonde? Either way, this is unfortunately not a good product for me. Maybe a brunette root cover up would be a better purchase from this brand, for other people.

It does conceal the roots in seconds however it makes the hair feel kinda hard and crunchy like hairspray. Maybe use a little at first and see how that works but I would overall recommend this product for Quick on the go touchups.

I think this would work better for people who have naturally darker hair. I would not purchase this product.

I had high hopes for this but..... The texture is very thick and I just dont care for that. I could deal with it tho. I really do like this tho used lightly and when my hair is pulled back. I dont like using it when my hair is down. Just too much to color and not technically a good blonde color. Its light but not really blonde. Overall, I'm happy that I was able to try this bc I was def. intrigued. Would I repurchase?? MAYYYYBE.

Unfortunately, it was a bust. The color is a lot warmer than my ashy blonde hair, so it didnt match at all. The texture also wasnt favorable. I received this product for free from Influenster, and will not be purchasing in the future.

My lockdown hair was really getting me down but this was the perfect DIY fix for me! My hair is SUPER blonde and it definitely blended my long dark roots without looking too yellow. The spray was easy to use, less messy than dry shampoo, and I didnt notice any overspray on my face or on the walls. Looks great in pics, in person I noticed a slight chalkiness on my particular color but overall a cool product I will definitely buy and use again!

A quick spray and roots are gone for the day. Its easy to apply and Jon-permanent, so if you mess up, no big deal. This is perfect for touch ups in between treatments and a must for quarantine!

Dont know if it was due to how dark my roots get but very glad i was able to test it and it washed out.

Its perfect for when you have an appointment to get your roots touched up but you need a little something to hold you over. However, I would not be using this product every day because it leaves my hair feeling heavy.

To make the color even on my roots took almost the entire 2oz bottle so the size is not favorable. Root Magic does its job so if youre in need of a quick touch up, this is a good option.

It was gold and shimmery. So I sprayed it on my hair and it turned my hair gold. This is the opposite effect of what o want in my hair. I use blue and purple shampoo to take away the brassy-ness. So maybe this just wasnt my color since I was sent medium blonde. I would use it as an instant spray tan though! Haha

I have fairly dark hair compared to my blonde balayage and it didnt really work all that well in my hair. I imagine if youre covering greys or have lighter natural roots that it will work fairly well in a pinch!

It would leave the residue on your hands as well. (While it doesn't function like a dry shampoo) It applies like it. It is easy to wash out.

However, I have medium brown roots and very light ends- some call it ombr but my hairstylist uses the term balayage. We typically take my blonde pretty high to the root so it can grow out and last longer. Problem with this color is, its the perfect match for the blonde in my hair but it gave my darker roots a weird overcast that made them look ashy, not blonder. Despite my personal qualms, the product didnt leave my hair feeling weird and was really easy to apply, just didnt receive desired effect.

I used this for the first time & i was really excited but the texture of this spray is really weird & it made my hair look frizzy where i sprayed it & the color didnt go to good with my hair but it seems like itd work if my hair completely matched it & it was better texturized. It doesnt last a while either and of course it does out within one washing of the hair.

This product was orange on my hair, and didnt blend well at all. This is not something that I would buy again. However, it is difficult to match blonde tones, so I feel like this product would be more successful when used in a brunette tone on brunette hair!

Luckily I only chose a small section so I didnt destroy all my hair but I would never use this again! It was nothing like the blonde picture you see in the pictures. More like the yellow you see with the wording! Dont buy!
