I liked that it was pretty gentle and kept my hair feeling soft, but it didn't work to bleach my hair at all. I have very dark brown hair, but had used a bleach kit from another brand yesterday. The first bleaching didn't lighten as much as I needed it to (ended up an orangey blonde), so I bought one of these because I'm short on time and it's all the store had. It ended up barely changing the color, so it was a waste of time/money.

This product was extremely disappointing. I was so excited to put some highlights my hair and it took about an hour to get them just right. Then I even went back and did second layer over top and I did not get one shade lift at all.

I used your loreal Colo restaurant bleach all over. I used proper as instructed by the included pamphlet. Now it says it will keep from turning copper. It didn't take out the color it strip, & copper

This stuff works , but if you have thick hair, or shoulder length buy 2 boxes!!! If you want it to work the more you have on your hair the best the results will be.. Bleach works best in the first 20 minutes, more is better less is bad.

I wanted to bleach my hair for a light color. My hair is dark brown I didn't expect it to be like the box model obviously but i basically can say it didn't do anything besides make my scalp burn. I didn't leave it long enough could be the reason why but it was on for atleast 20 30 min for sure I believe that's enough time to do something... Anything. I had to wash it off because I started feeling my scalp start wat I call the feeling of somewhat burning. But besides that I feel it was on long enough to atleast lighten up something.

I did exactly what the instructions said and my hair only somewhat bleached in spots. I have never had issues bleaching my hair but this has proven me wrong . I would not recommend this product to anyone else!

Formula felt dry and I felt incredibly unsure about the coverage during the application process. After leaving it on for the recommended times (up to 1 hour) and rinsing, I was disappointed to see that it made little difference to a majority of my hair. Had it only been this, I would’ve understood since it had been colored, however, my roots (dark brown) saw no change whatsoever; which was concerning since it was entirely new and untouched growth

In the past I would lighten my hair with a bleaching kit but this time I decided I wanted less complication with the same results. This product definitely did not do that for me. After 40 minutes my hair had not lightened up in the slightest. It did, however, dry my hair out much like a bleach kit only worse. So I essentially bought this to turn my hair into straw with no other perceivable effect.

Not the same as before

I have used this product for more than 5 years but this last year I’ve seen something changed it does not work as before, it doesn’t go blonde as it used to be not it left my hair yellow and orange

Doesn’t lighten as it says it will. I went through 2 boxes. On both myself and my son. My hair is brown- turned orange and his is red and turns yellowish.
I’ll try again with a different product or just go to a salon. Wish i read the reviews before purchasing. Lesson learned.

I have not had problems with this product before, and I would have loved for it to stay that way. Today when I purchased a new box of colorista bleach it was missing the bleaching powder. The state of the box looked brand new, yet still missing items.
I am very dissatisfied and may consider switching to another brand.

Absolutely horrible!

Just finished and followed instructions to a T.
My hair is patchy with the entire MIDDLE SECTION of ONE SIDE OF MY HEAD, still brown.
I’ve never had this issue with other products. So now I get to wait until I’m in a safe window to find BETTER BLEACH to fix it.. I’ll be walking around in a hat and if anyone asks, I’ll be letting them know what a hot mess this product is..

I’m pregnant and couldn’t make it to the salon store! And when I saw this product was vegan and ammonia free I instantly was like wow ok! And my hair was black I’m going from black to green and it lifted the black so it’s really good bleach and is healthier on your hair!

I bought this 2 days ago when Target was out of my go to bleaching product. It was terrible. My medium brown roots barely lightened by a very patchy shade, the pre-lightened parts of my hair barely lifted and some did not lift at all. I am now stuck with buying a different product to try and even out the patchy mess I was left with. Please see the reviews on Target’s website for more people experiencing the same or similar issues.

Amazing, gentle, high lift bleaching kit!!

This was the most wonderful bleaching experience in all my years of at home hair color. I am not kidding. I have short hair, and was going from a lavender (ish) shade to wanting to bleach and start over with a smokey pink. Anyway, this product...this is the most gentle, high lifting product. I let it sit on my regrowth which was quite dark as well as the prelightened dingy colored ends, and after 40 minutes I had the lightest, pale yellow blonde with no damage. It doesn't stink of chemicals, and the integrity of my hair was not compromised in the slightest. I was able to use the smokey pink and have an even, all over beautiful shade. I highly recommend this bleaching kit. I will never use another bleach kit or mix my own from powder and developer from the beauty supply store ever again. So glad I grabbed this on a whim!

tried this dye and it turned my brown hair to a horrible caramel brown, only a little lighter and absolutely not what was advertised on the box. I'm under no illusions that a box dye can take me from dark brown to platinum blonde, but I was hoping to at least achieve what was advertised and have an all over lightening effect. This dye was abysmal even by my low expectations.
The dye was so dry and gritty that it wouldn't spread on my hair. It left patchy splotches that left me having to buy a proper bleach and peroxide set in order to fix this mistake. This was an absolute waste of money and time.

The Lightener Works but the Toner Doesn't

It gets the job done at a decent price. Not any better or worse than other similarly priced bleach/lightening kits. It turned my dark brown hair yellow, but so does every single other hair lightener I've ever used because the lighter color of brown is in fact yellow.
One thing that I think has caused so many negative reviews is that the anti-brass conditioner is WAYYYY too subtle to make any noticeable difference if you're using this kit with dark brown hair.
If you're lightening your hair from dark brown, you need a much stronger anti-brass conditioner than what comes in this kit. Like the kind that makes your hair look purple before you wash it out and stains anything it touches. You could even make your own by mixing purple hair dye with conditioner, but again using a much higher proportion of purple than the toner in this kit has.
The toner in this kit will not do the job, but I don't factor that into the effectiveness of the kit overall. Like I said, it does the job and I have no complaints (that can't be easily fixed and wouldn't be exactly the same with any other kit I've tried).

This product worked beautifully, and as expected. I think people using this product do not understand that color does not take off color! all over bleach needs to be applied to the middle first and then the roots and ends as they are more porous. Therefore, you may require two boxes. My hair came up in 15 minutes and I applied my toner afterwards for my desired results, anyone not able to perform the simple task should probably go to a professional and have their hair done.

I had about 5 inches of regrowth and it wasn't even enough product to cover my head. My hair isn't very thick and I couldn't fully saturate my strands... which of course now I look like a chunky skunk. You'd have to have the shortest pixie cut to get use of one bottle. I left the product on a total of 50 minutes and barely got to orangey golden color along with my brown splotches. I had higher hopes for this company but I think I would much prefer Splat which actually lifts color from my hair.

Worst experience with bleaching kit

I'm so disappointed. I followed the instructions 100% but still have a burnt orange color in my hair. I did the 1" roots 20 minutes after the rest of the hair and still have lighter roots than the rest of my hair. I've been using other products for decades and even though they worked well I was hoping for better results using the Colorista Bleach. Unfortunately it failed to stand up to even the cheapest kits I've used in the past. I'm thoroughly embarrassed to go out into public to buy something to fix this.

This is thee best home bleach!! if my hair has been dark (without copper or red reflect), For all those saying it didn't work - if your hair is dark you still require a toner after bleaching. This lifted me beautifully to a pale yellow and I toned with a 9.1 Ash blonde. If you do have a lot of natural red or coloured red you need to use as stronger 20vol bleach developer and still tone.
