They changed the formula and added water. It does not hold and is just horrible. If I could put negative stars I would. Now looking for alternatives with the same formula as the old one, will not buy this unless it changes back. Take out the water

So sad! New formula is awful!
So incredibly disappointed! This is the only hairspray I have used for years, but the new formula is HORRIBLE. No longer a fine mist, it comes out in globs as if I’m spraying water on my hair. I couldn’t believe what was happening, it was so bad. The price has increased 3x just in about the past 5 years, and now this. Sure wish I hadn’t purchased 4 cans to have on hand. They will end up in the trash. Loreal, please go back to the original formula. I have no choice but to find a new hairspray. Sure wish

Decade of loyal use down the drain
Quite literally the ONLY hairspray I’ve used for the last decade, the recent formula change has made it completely unusable. The new spray cap also is unusable. Large, very sticky droplets compared to the original very fine mist that dries quickly. Not to mention, the price has increased almost 3x since I started using this product. Disappointed is an understatement, this is a product I’ve literally repurchased a 100 times.

Not happy with product change
This has been my favorite hairspray and a must have in my hair care for at least 7 or 8 years now. However, the last 3 cans i have bought have been a huge disappointment to me. I was hoping it was just a bad can the first time, but the next 2 cans were also bad. The formula has changed and its like I'm spraying water on my hair and its not holding my hair at all. It comes out as white foamy like splotches onto my hair and seems to have a hard time making it through the nozzle. Highly disappointed, as im afraid Im going to have to find a different hairspray now and thats not easy to do. I hope whatever the change was doesnt last and Loreal can go back to how it was.

What changed?
I found this hairspray after several failed attempts due to the fact that my "go to" hairspray changed formulas. I loved the " lock it" spray. However, I just bought 2 cans and they are different. The spray is way more intense. It does not dry quickly like before.
Why do these companies change formulas. I guess I'll have to start looking again for something that actually works. Very disappointed...especially when I was buying 3 to 4 cans a week.

New formula is horrible
Started using this hairspray probably close to 7 years ago. It used to be $3.99. Then covid happened and it went up $2, now it is almost 3 times the price. I used about a can a week for 7 years now. Just ordered a can and the nozzle felt different, the spray of it was super intense and felt like too much was coming out. Yet my hair looks horrible and feels like no hairspray is on it. Looked it up and they changed the formula. Please bring back the old formula, it was my tried and true!

Why? Why did this product change? Not Good!
This has been my favorite go to hairspray for years. Suddenly the formula and sprayer has changed! What the heck!? Now it smells terrible, it sprays white water droplets on your hair and doesn't hold good at all. My hair looks to be a wet, sticky mess now with the NEW formula. Currently in search for a new hairspray, I would not waste you money on this one.

Disappointed in formula change, water
Extremely disappointed and saddened that the formula was changed without any indication. I have been using this hairspray for about 10 years and it was perfect but now that the first ingredient is water the product has been ruined and now unusable. The spray comes out so heavy and separated as if the “sticky” component of the hairspray just falls in blobs and leaves clumps in my hair. Please go back to the old formula, you have lost a long time customer.

The new Loreal Weather control hairspray is awful
I have used the Weather control hairspray for years, loved it. I ordered a can off of Amazon, went to use it and it came out so fast and was watery, left blobs on my hair and weighed it down. I thought there was something wrong with it and ordered 2 more cans. Same thing happened then I noticed the can now says humidity control. I wasted money and now I will be looking for another brand. Why change a product that was working well. very disappointed!

Terrible
The formula was changed and now this is useless. First ingredient is "water", and there is no aerosol function. No fine mist anymore. It's like water droplets and it leaves hair wet. This had been my wife's and my choice for hair spray for years (we both have long hair), it used to be great. But we can't use it anymore. If you want volume for fine hair or are into big hairstyles, avoid this. We are switching to another brand. You ruined a good thing.

HORRIBLE NEW FORMULA WITH NO NOTICE OF CHANGE
The product description January 2026 for Lock It hairspray on L’Oreal’s site states the product is WATER FREE and lists the ingredients of the last formula. The NEW formula lists the FIRST ingredient as WATER on the can. It lands on your hair like water leaving it wet and ruining the style. It’s horrible. There was no indication on the can that the formula was new or changed. I have previous 2 cans clearly listing different ingredients. DO NOT BUY!

Great hair spray but the nozzle is different now
I used to love this hairspray wasn’t sticky but the most recent cans I bought the sprayer is more like a hose and now I have wet drips on my hair and it’s super stiff. I thought maybe it was just the one can I bought but it’s the last 3 cans. I even tried to use the old nozzle on the new bottle but it doesn’t work

A Go To Hair Product
This has been my favorite hair spray for several years starting before it was marked for humidity control. I have wavy fine hair and this holds like no other spray. You don't need to spray much. I have medium short hair and when I get up from bed in the morning I don't have to do a thing with my hair. The one complaint I have has made this lose a 5th star. It develops an odd bad smell within a day, and I'm not sure if others can smell it. Something must have changed in the formula about a year or 2 ago.

Problem solved.
I have thin hair very susceptible to straightening during any humidity over 45%. This has helped tremendously. Nice scent and doesn’t smell toxic. Now if I could find this in a travel size

Smells Bad Now

Best Hairspray Ever

Best Hairspray For Curly Girl Routine
I do not understand people that are giving this a low rating.. I have very curly hair. I am obsessed with makeup skin care and hair care. I tend to go high-end most of the time. But I do like some drugstore. I have tried every single hairspray out there. This is the only one that works and does not flake. It's perfect for the curly girl routine which I swear I invented in 1996. I don't know if it was a thing before then or not. I have been doing it since then. People thought I was crazy with helmet head because I used so much hairspray. However, I would do it at nighttime after my shower and I would wake up and my hair would be perfect. This is the best hairspray out there. The only thing that I don't like is. This was under $4 at Walmart nd it has literally doubled in price that is ridiculous.

New formula is awful!
Like another reviewer stated, they have changed its formula, it's smells bad now and doesn't hold as well, the old formula had a gold ring around the nozzle, the new has a silver ring. I'm using up my 3 can stock and never buying it again. Bad move loreal! I have used this for years, but no more!

Formula has changed
I use to love this hairspray. The formula has changed recently. It smells awful now and doesn't hold well anymore. The spray nozzles fall off often too. In stores it is not selling as well as it used to because I guess other people have noticed the change. The old formula has a gold ring around the sprayer and it's great and smells nice but the new formula with a silver ring is just awful.

This product does not come close to what the "DISCONTINUED" Bold Control Hairspray could do. Apparently, an overall rating of 3.5 out of 5 does not have any effect on Loreal Paris product line. Looking for a replacement hairspray.

LOCK-IT Weather control hairspray
I go through a can of hairspray a week. The nozzle is defective on every other can I buy. It always falls off and rolls somewhere in my bathroom as I try to get ready. It's ridiculous! I check the cans before I buy them, but seems to still happen. I will stop buying this product if it is not fixed.

Excellent product, but spray cap needs fixed
My daughter-in-law and I love your L'Oreal Lock It Weather Control Hairspray with one complaint. We have had the spray caps from multiple cans (4 - 5) come off and then it is impossible to get them to stay on. The quality control on this aspect of your product is poor and needs to be corrected. While I realize that this problem can occasionally happen, I feel that this is a high percentage of the number that we have purchased. Please correct this flaw.

Defective Nozzles
I have used this hairspray for four or five years, but in the last year I have purchased about ten cans and every single one headed defective nozzle. I don't know why this issue has not been fixed by L'Oreal, yet. It's very disappointing and has been a big waste of my money.

Deffective nozzle in 3 out of 4 cans purchased
I love this product and I keep buying it but honestly, it never fails that when I get them home and check them out, the nozzle 3 out of 4 cans are always defective. It is causing me to make many trips back to the stores to return them. I read other reviews and I can not believe that a large company like Loreal would not take our complaints seriously and correct the problem. Do they not care about their consumers? There are so many of us that like the product will will eventually look to find a replacement elsewhere if this problem is not corrected in the sooner than later.

Defective spray can, unpleasant scent
As per a previous review, the spray mechanism is defective. The black nozzle fell off during the first use, and it is not possible to properly replace it on the little white piece sticking out of the can. As a result, the spray top wobbles, making it impossible to fully depress the black piece and spray product where you want it to go. I had never used Loreal hairspray before, and was unhappy with the really objectionable scent of this hairspray. I would have used it up (and never purchased it again) if the spray top wasn't defective.

Don’t recommend
I didn’t want to go in the store to buy my regular hair spray, so thought I would give this a try & ordered for curbside pickup. The first spray I knew that I wasn’t going to like it! Smell was not good & it makes my hair too stiff & sticky. My face even feels sticky after using it & it’s hard to brush through my hair. Will definitely not be buying this again.

Problem with the spray nozzle cap
I truely love this hair spray, in fact all my make up and hair products are L'Oreal. I am having a problem with the way the plastic spray nozzle is loose and comes off. I then have to try and fit it back onto the plastic spray devise that goes down into the can.The lot number on the can is H55411W9. This is the"Lock It" Bold Control" hairspray. Thank you for your excellent products. I do plan on using them, as well as the hairspray, despite this issue.

The best hairspray ever!
This is the best hairspray I have ever used ...and I have tried a lot of hairspray over the years. High end to drugstore, and most end up in the back of the cabinet unused. This is great at doing what it says..keeping your hair in place and frizzless, regardless of the humidity level.. but it is also fantastic for creating style and volume. My hair is very fine, and I can really play with this spray to get lift and give it direction when I'm wearing it straight. Also, holds curls..something my hair really doesn't want to do. All while leaving my highlighted hair shiny, moveable and healthy looking. PLEASE never change this formula!!!

Favorite Hairspray!
I haven't tried to hold a hairstyle in place because I wear my hair down and straight, but I basically quit buying dry shampoo for non-wash days and mousse for volume, because this works for both. For instance, I didn't wash my hair today, but I sprayed my roots with it and you can't even tell I didn't wash it -- and it doesn't leave the powdery look that dry shampoo leaves! I'm on my second bottle!

Great inexpensive hairspray!
So I just bought this hairspray because the other kind I wanted was not in stock, so I thought why not try this one instead. I buy one of your other products that I like as well. I think I actually like this one better. I tried it yesterday and it held up very well. It is less sticky than the bold control hairspray. These cans seem to have a nozzle that stays on better but I have no idea why since it is so similar to the bold control but the one I have so far has held up and I can keep the top on. I am using this as my overall hairspray that I spray on after I complete my style. I have tried other weather control hairsprays and this one seems great so far but only time will tell. The worst is when it is humid and rainy where I live so that is the true test for sure. It also made my hair easier to do the next day without even washing it. I hope you guys never give up this line of hairspray because they are all pretty good especially for not being super expensive.

Fantastic for Fine Hair
I love this hairspray ... Lock It Weather Control allows my straight hair to maintain full body when blow drying my hair. Bonus is that it doesn’t stink . Please please please make travel size ... I’m a girl on the go traveling for work and need my hair to be neat at all times !
