Anyone can experience skin dryness – and no matter the cause it can be uncomfortable and make for a less-than-flawless complexion. Very dry skin can flake and look dull. You may be slathering on moisturizer morning and night, but your skin’s dryness persists. Your skin produces its own oils to stay hydrated, but it’s easy to lose moisture throughout the day so it needs help maintaining that moisture. Encourage your skin’s natural moisture and provide it with the extra hydration it needs by using a few dry skin remedies easy enough to incorporate into your usual skin care routine.
Drink water throughout the day. You may have heard this advice before, but had not realized that keeping your body hydrated can also help the appearance of your skin too. Try to drink water more regularly. Even if you don’t see an immediate change in your skin you know that you are keeping your body hydrated.
Make a DIY sugar scrub to exfoliate. Making an at-home skin care concoction may become one of your favorite dry skin remedies. DIY sugar scrubs are simple to make and allow you to customize ingredients to your preferences. To start, you will need brown sugar and an oil – preferably olive or coconut oil for their skin-nourishing properties. You can also add in a few drops of honey or an essential oil, like rose oil, which can be very hydrating. Once your mixture reaches the consistency you are looking for, you can gently scrub your very dry skin in gentle circular motions. Let the mixture sit on the skin on your face for two minutes or five to ten minutes if you have applied it to the dry parts of your body like your elbows and knees. Then rinse with tepid water – hot water can further dry out the skin.
Layer your moisturizing efforts. If you have very dry skin, simply using a moisturizer may not be enough. To best hydrate your skin, start with a clean surface – and consider exfoliating if you haven’t done so recently. Add moisture back into your skin while its surface is still damp from cleansing – about one minute after you’ve rinsed away your cleanser. Then apply a hydrating serum, eye cream, a day cream with SPF or a night cream and finally seal in all of that moisture with a facial oil. This order for your skin care products will better ensure that the hydrating ingredients are working on your skin’s outer layer to keep it strong against the negative effects of skin dryness like cracking and flaking. Look for skin care products that have hyaluronic acid, like RevitaLift® Triple Power™ Concentrated Serum and essential and precious oils, like Age Perfect® Glow Renewal Facial Oil – these ingredients can be extremely hydrating to very dry skin.
Apply an overnight mask. Nighttime is the perfect time to address very dry skin – especially if you have a humidifier in your bedroom, which can help keep moisture in the air and, in turn, your skin. Your skin is already in replenish mode, so applying an overnight mask will help maximize the positive results. RevitaLift® Triple Power™ Intensive Overnight Mask’s luxuriously creamy texture will cushion and hydrate skin while you sleep and even help to improve the look of wrinkles and skin’s elasticity too.
These dry skin remedies will have you on the right path to nourishing very dry skin. Incorporate hydrating skin care products into your routine to replenish skin with the moisture it has lost.
