Musical powerhouse H.E.R. is often on everyone’s lips for her professional prowess and standout beauty. Recently, the award-winning singer-songwriter has been the talk of the town after joining the diverse L’Oréal Paris roster of spokespersons (which includes Viola Davis, Yseult, Aja Naomi-King, Gemma Chan and Eva Longoria, just to name a few) as the newest global ambassador.
A self-proclaimed “L’Oréal girl,” some of her earliest memories of experimenting with beauty products include using “a little bit of L’Oréal Paris mascara and [her] mom’s mini compact as a mirror.”
With aspirations to use the platform to inspire even more women and young girls to know that they’re worth it, the sultry-voiced crooner shared her excitement about the role. She also shared some of her beauty must-haves, the correlation she sees between beauty and music, and one of the makeup hacks she turns to when she needs to multitask her lipstick.
Tell us about your daily beauty routine.
A good moisturizer is necessary! I like a light foundation for flawless looking skin, some blush and a bit of gloss.
Any beauty secrets you can share with us?
I have many secrets. But I think one of the biggest ones is using my lipstick as a blush when I don’t have any.
What are your favorite L’Oréal Paris products?
How do you define the relationship between beauty and music?
Beauty and music are both forms of expression. It’s hard to say how you feel sometimes and both beauty and music can say it without words.
What are your dreams and aspirations for the younger generation?
I think this younger generation is already doing a lot but I hope we continue to use our voices and understand our power.
What is your mantra?
I have many mantras. One of the biggest ones is: If you don’t stand for something you’ll fall for anything.
