While the front row is where you’d typically find celebrities and influencers during the Paris Fashion Week shows, non-profit organization Right To Be and L’Oréal Paris shake things up every season. On Sunday, the official beauty partner transformed the École Militaire, a global symbol of French excellence, into a runway that symbolizes freedom and empowerment of women with Le Défilé.
The celebration of women walking freely is the perfect underscore to the eight-day event, showcasing the brand’s commitment to honoring women and celebrating their worth daily. What Is Le Défilé?
In partnership with the nonprofit organization Right To Be, L’Oréal Paris hosted Le Défilé Walk Your Worth, a show that brings awareness and momentum to the movement to end street harassment, allowing everyone, including women and girls, to walk through public spaces safely. The event is open to the public in an effort to reach as many people as possible, democratizing fashion and beauty. It’s a stark contrast from the exclusivity of the luxury shows overrun with A-list celebrities, paparazzi and fashion’s elite.
This year Le Défilé was held in support of the work that Right To Be is doing, including its bystander intervention training that equips men and women with tools to intervene when they witness street harassment. The goal is to train millions of people globally to become Upstanders, ultimately building a culture where street harassment is not accepted.
The event brought everyday women together with celebrities, including L’Oréal Paris’ diverse roster of incredible spokeswomen such as Eva Longoria, Katherine Langford, Cindy Bruna and Bebe Vio Grandis. This year’s show was punctuated by dancers wearing t-shirts and hoodies emblazoned with the words “I’m Worth It” on the front, bringing a high-energy vibe to the catwalk. The dancers exuded strength, grace, passion and creativity — just a few of the symbols of femininity, feminism and sisterhood.
Shows like Le Défilé are a celebration of the power of women, and a constant reminder that when we create a world where women feel seen, heard and safe, we create a world that uplifts everyone.
