I saved the leftover Semi-Permanent Colorista Color in the tube and had no issues. There was nothing to mix when I applied the product. I stored it at room temperature. 6 months later, the color was still fine to use.

My 6 year old brunette wanted blue hair. I did not want to bleach his hair because he is so tiny, but wanted to support his self expression. I used manic panic and let it sit for 40 min, not even a blue tint. I used the loreal teal and let it set for an hour, and he got this forest nymph color. Even though our local Walgreens didn't have the blue for brunettes, he loves it, so I'm happy. This product also wasn't a chemical mad house. I do wish they made emote for brunettes, because even as an adult, bleaching hair sucks.

I have dark brown hair and I have to say that this product did not hold the slightest bit in my hair. My hair looks the exact same that it did before I even dyed it and I'm talking about Seeing the results the morning after dying it! The whole dye rinsed completely off. Waste of your money, at least if you have dark brown hair!!!

This color will NOT leave your hair no matter how hard you try. I used pink and almost a year later it is still there. Do NOT use this product unless you plan on cutting off the colored hair in the future. I had a professional try to use color remover and it has permanently permanently stained my hair and even my natural hair that did not have bleach on it.

I got the metallic pink color to dye part of my hair pink with my swim team back. This was February 21st, 2026. It's not June 12th, 2026 and there's still a lot left in my hair. It stained my hair and it's super frustrating because it doesn't even look good anymore. WOULDN'T RECOMMEND!

Everyone hating on this is so frickin wrong. Almost all of the negative reviews for this dye were mentioning that it was either too vibrant or lasted for too long. DUDE!! This is the wrong brand if you want a casual cutsy light pink or just a blue for a halloween costume. This is hands down the best box dye I have ever used and honestly it's lasted longer than some of my professional dyes. I'm a brunette and the blue has come out amazing and just as I wanted it. Definitely use Vaseline around your forehead, neck, and ears, though.
Okay so now for the application. The box comes with a squeeze tube which is different than almost every other brand you find at your local CVS. That, and the fact that it comes with like 4 pairs of gloves, makes it incredibly easy to reapply later, which brands that make you mix together different chemicals without a safety cover don't offer so you can touch up later unless you want toxic chemicals in your home. Also, the dye brush included in the box I found to be incredibly helpful as the other brush I had bought for a dye a while ago was no where to be found lol.
Last thought, I'm kind of messy while applying dye and I found that the dye was easy to remove from my bathroom countertops and just required a towel and lukewarm water.
Overall, very good dye that sticks well and I'm typing this as I am waiting to wash and can confirm that it has been consistent every time I go to touch up. Beautiful and vibrant colors that are good for alt people like me that are looking to actually have fun with their hair. My one complaint is that I wish they made more colors!!!

I use l'oreal colorista bleach deodorant all over complete for the first time on dyed hair I did one strip put for half an hour until I achieved inside banana color then washed and undertoned I used purple then blue conditioner from loreal 7ua the final result was sandy cool blond that I was aiming at in the first place thanks loreal again.

I absolutely LOVE this color #Metallica Orchid 04. I went from being invisible to fabulous! I really, really wish you would make this color in permanent. It fades too fast. I seriously, cannot go anywhere without getting at least two compliments. I have had this coat for over 10 years and did my hair last Sept when it wasnt cold. If I had tried to match it, it would never had happened. People are amazed my hair matches my coat.

Metallic Pink/Fuchsia is staining skin *horribly*

My hair now stains any skin it touches, even though my hair is bone dry. I've already scrubbed my head raw to get out any bits of dye that might've caused it, and I've seen no improvement with the staining.
It's really weird too, since I've used this color before, and it didn't stain like this last time! Did the recipe change or something?

Hot pink and lovin' it

I used the Hot Pink Colorista Semi-Permanent and it worked just as advertised. I have light brown with a little bit of gray peppered in hair that has never been dyed. I chose to do the hot pink just to have a fun few weeks with it. I followed all the instructions and it worked exactly as I expected. I highly recommend it but I highly recommend you READ AND FOLLOW the instructions

Terrible stains don’t use this product!!!

This product was on sale at Walmart and I decided to try it! The application was so easy and the color was so vibrant! High hopes am I right? No, within 2-3 days my hair was pretty much turquoise mind you I did use the metallic blue color. It’s been a week and I’ve definitely washed my hair over ten times like it said would come out in ten washes. But the color still hasn’t come out. It is an ugly green. I just used an ion color remover packet for 45 minutes with heat. It was made for semi and permeant hair dye. While it stripped out my remaining strawberry blonde dye, the green is still in my hair. Also to mention I am a swimmer and all this dye did was stain my neck for days, my face when I slept, and my swim cap. The green is still in my hair and now I will be waiting for the rest to come out. Would not recommend this product!!!

I’ve been using Colorista Metallic Orchid for years to color my hair. I get SO many complements and have a lot of people ask what I use to color my hair. It’s easy to use, fades evenly without turning weird colors and has great coverage.

This is such a cautionary tale.
For reference, I have dark blonde to brunette hair. I bought the metallic blue hair dye hoping to use it for a Halloween costume. I followed the instructions and left for about 15 to 20 minutes. I was really happy with the results— initially.
I dyed my hair on Oct. 30, 2025. The dye still had not fully washed out by Dec. 16, so I went to a hair salon to get it professionally removed. The hairstylist did a detox first, which got a lot of the hair dye out, but it was still a little green. Then, we dyed my hair a chocolate color, then did some dye removal in certain streaks to add highlights. The base of my hair had turned permanently green. The hair dye not only stained my hair blue because it's way too pigmented but also bleached my hair. I've spent over $250 to try to remove and treat my hair, and it's still not completely gone. I'm sure I will have to spend more money in the next several months as I continue to treat and maintain my hair. I have a public-facing job as a journalist, and how I look is, unfortunately, important for me in a professional manner as well. I hope L'OREAL does better in guiding buyers with this product. My hair is pretty porous, and it seems like that also played a role in how much the hair dye stuck to my hair.

Girls, PLEASE read this review before applying

I’ve never felt so terribly towards a product to write a review, yet here I am. I used the hot pink color on select strands underneath my virginity long blonde hair and when I washed it out my whole head was the worst shade of hot pink. After washing my hair about 15 times throughly with extremely hot water and dandruff shampoo, my hair did not lift at all. I had to cancel all my plans the next day and apply ColorOops Extra Strength to my NATURAL NEVER TOUCHED HAIR. I’ve washed my hair probably thirty times and bought/used multiple clarifying and anti-dandruff shampoos. It doesn’t stop there, I’ve used hot oil, vitamin C, and baking soda. I’ve used everything and months later my hair is still lightly stained pink. If you’re like me and have used light pinks on your natural hair and are thinking “my hair will be fine it says it WASHES OUT IN ABOUT TEN WASHES.” DONT. Even if you are sitting with the bottle in your hand… return it. I’ve lost so much money buying methods to remove this from my hair and my hair is dry, dull, and STILL PINK. This product is worse than a scam and a lie.

I absolutely love this stuff and I've been using it forever! I've never heard of purple dye turning your hair green as it fades. Personally it has never happened with his brand. I've tried every single color of theirs. I'm really disappointed to find out that most of the stores took this brand out because I can't buy a bottle anywhere. 😭 Without having to go online apparently. Well the other colorings you have to mix all these different colors together and they're way more scary. The colorista is like a tube of gel. It's so easy to put on and comes out greatt. My favorite thing also is that it coats your hair and conditions it and makes my hair thicker and softer after I use it. I don't know why people would bash this brand because it's amazing!

My natural hair is a medium brown with white/grey. My niece did my hair with the metallic pink dye. It turned out so nicely! She did the under section totally pink and then did pink highlights through the top. I'm so excited to put my hair up in a ponytail when I exercise and show the solid pink. I had bought metallic blue semi permanent hair dye. I wanted to have blue hair now for a couple years. I had purchased colo rista for blondes. I followed the instructions 20 minutes. And my hair came out more teal than blue. So my hair looks more green than blue. Blue is my favorite color and I wanted something done fun for summer.
Rinsing my hair and then brushing it, my hairbrush turned blue. The hairbrush turned the correct color.

I bought this dye at Walmart to dye my hair with my friends on May 14th. We were going to States for track and wanted to show some school spirit. I decided to only dye the ends of my hair BLUE…(the end of my hair is bleached) The dye was easy to apply to my hair. After the first 3 washes my whole shower was stained blue as well as my friends shower. Now it is June 17th my hair has been GREEN for the past few weeks. I have washed my hair roughly 34 times. I have tried dawn dish soap, dandruff shampoo, baking soda, blow drying, detox and clarifying shampoos and none of those were able to fully get the color out of my hair. On the box, it said that it might take a little longer than 10 washes for the dye to come out of bleached hair. At first I was patiently waiting for it to come out, but after 20 washes I lost all hope. I will now either have to dye over top of my hair or cut it and have a bob. This is truly ruining my whole summer. In all my family pictures my hair will be green. I do not recommend this product to anyone ever. (My friends hair is still blue too) For your own good, DO NOT USE THIS!

This product completely fried my healthy hair. We (my girls and I) have been doing our own hair for years and never have we ever experienced anything like this before. My hair was breaking so bad I had to cut at LEAST 4 inches off.

Almost impossible to wash our or fade

I used the metallic orchard. It was a bit brighter than I had anticipated. I continually washed my hair but it has taken over 28 washes(2 weeks of daily washing) to lighten/remove and I still have patches of purple. It has not faded In an even way. Some sections are darker and are not fading .My hair was naturally gray with black undertones. Very disappointed with this product. Thinking a vegan formula would be nice, but trying to remove it has been an ordeal . I've tried dawn liquid soap and now my last resort is the baking soda trick. Hope it works. I have had my hair professionally colored purple with semi permanent wash out products (unsure of brand) and thought I would save a few extra bucks since I was I unemployed. I have a video interview in 2 days and would prefer not to be too purple.

AWFUL

Your bathtub or shower will NEVER be any more stained than this truly horrible I am stained my tub is stained I have been dyeing my hair for YEARS and I have never used a product that is this bad truly awful a great comparison is if you've used spat and you know hair dye at all you know splat is bad this is SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE I thought splat was the worst hair dye but it isn't this is

I am so happy I discovered your silver colorista 1 day spray! My beautiful grey hair journey has me with a beautiful grey blend on my sides and back of head, but on top, solid white. This spray gives just a little dimension I am searching for.

Do not buy!!!!

Not only was the seal on both boxes broken (I didn’t even notice it until I was home) the color was awful it stained everything my shower , the bottles of shampoo, etc than I was completely covered in hair dye ! It was purple now I’m walking around with it all over me . It was such a terrible experience I would never buy again it did not take to my hair what so ever ! 0/10

Didn't work on my hair

I tried this product and it didn't work on my hair either, I don't like to bleach my hair because that kill your hair. So I wasted money on buying the metallic blue and metallic purple, cause my hair was still brown.

200 PINK!!

200 PINK gave me subtle but definitely noticeable color. I l highlighted about six sections in the front of my hair to see how Colorista would look on my hair. I let it set for 45 minutes, rinsed it out and conditioned my hair. The end results were exactly what I wanted-subtle but noticeable pink highlights! My hair is light blonde. The highlights look very much as pictured on the back of the box for light blonde hair.

I had a bad experience with another brand of bold hair color. So I was apprehensive about trying Colorista... I was pleasantly surprised at the ease of application and the end resulting color was fabulous.

Color doesn’t match box!

I was looking for a temporary pink color to put in my hair while my stylist was on vacation. I looked at Soft Pink and Pink. The soft pink looked like a faded cotton candy color. My hair is bleached white. I mixed it 50/50 with conditioner to make sure it was light. Nope. Very bright and not even close to the color on the box! A lot bluer than the “soft pink” they advertised.
