Confused about packaging ?

This shampoo now has different information on the front of bottle . Did you change the formula too ? I can purchase it at Target and Walmart and the bottles of Volume shampoo are different. I want the original so please inform !

Formula Changed Completely

Well I loved this shampoo until recently when they completely changed the formula. I am now having to go try to find the original formula while there are still some on the shelf. What was the reasoning behind this and why, on the new packaging, does it not state a new formula? After trying the latest version I will be looking for other options.

I am very unhappy in the change to the new formula

I loved your creamy formula of the ever pure volume shampoo before you changed it to the clear formula. The new formula is so drying and I had broken strands from trying to comb through it. The conditioner makes my hair flat no matter if I use a smaller amount. Please bring back the creamy formula that my hair and I loved.

Can’t use this anymore and sad about it

Was happy with the old formula. This new version causes hair loss, flat and heavy hair that can’t keep a style, extremely difficult to rinse out, and I am quite upset about it. Last time I buy this product. It’s making my hair fall out terribly. Requires more frequent hair washing than twice a week. Bad.

This new formula is HORRIBLE! The shampoo and conditioner left my hair dry and stringy. The old formula was absolutely AMAZING I used it for years. Please go back to the old formula, look at all these consumers saying the same thing. Please go back.

New formula irritates scalp.

Trying to figure out why my scalp has been so itchy lately since I haven't changed any of the hair products I use. It finally occurred to me that this could be related to the change in color (clear instead of white) of my shampoo. From reading the reviews on this site I see that it is a new formula and that it is effecting lots of users the same way. Please change it back! I cannot use this shampoo any longer!

Terrible New Formula!!!!

I've been using this shampoo for well over a decade, never had any issues until the formula changed. The texture use to be creamy, now it's a clear sticky gel that requires twice as much product to clean your hair. Does your hairbfeel clean with the new formula? Nope. Not only is the shampoo a different texture, but whatever ingredients you switched out are causing a reaction on my scalp. My hair looks thinner, my scalp is irritated. Again, I have been using this shampoo with zero issues until you changed the formula. It's really unfortunate that you changed the formula out of nowhere, refused to announce the change, refused to put any warning on your [now poor] products, and refuse to change it back despite your customers leaving hundreds of reviews. I'm now on the lookout for a new shampoo - one that ISN'T L'Oreal brand.

Shampoo and Conditioner Formula Has Changed

I have been using Ever Pure Volume Shampoo and Conditioner for about 15-plus years and I loved it. But over the past several months (sometime in 2024) you changed the formula, which used to contain Lotus, and this new formula is terrible. The original shampoo was a creamy white consistency, smelled great, and left my hair smooth and full. This new shampoo formula is a clear liquid, smells just OK, and leaves my hair harder to get a comb through, even after I use the matching conditioner, which has also been changed. It's bad enough that you changed the formula, but you did so without telling the public. There is no message on the shampoo tube, nor is it written on your website. Why was the formula changed? Your customers have a right to know. If you read the reviews, both on your site and on your distributor's sites, you will notice that there are many people who are upset about this too. You have lost me (and many others) as a customer. For a huge, well-known, multi-billion-dollar company like L'Oreal, you are deceiving the public by not disclosing this change, and it is shameful. Secondly, I had called your customer service and spoke to someone who told me to check the lot number on the shampoo tube. I told her it had a "Y" in it. She told me to only buy the tube that has a "U", "X", or "W" and she sent me two $8 L’oreal coupons. She also seemed surprised that I thought the formula had changed. So I went on Amazon, and although they didn't say what the lot number was, the picture of the shampoo and conditioner and the description, all said "Lotus", so I took a chance and bought two sets of it. Much to my chagrin, although the lot number had an "X", it did not have Lotus on it or in it, and unfortunately, it is the new formula. Now I must return the products to Amazon. Seriously, L’oreal, get your act together!

Extremely disappointed

I have been a faithful L’Oréal customer for nearly a decade. The previous formula of this shampoo was perfect, loved by so many. I’d often buy bottles in bulk and recommended it to so many friends. The new formula is absolutely horrible, doesn’t lather, and made my fine hair feel like straw - all thanks to the cheaper ingredients used. I returned it immediately when I realized what had happened. L’Oréal cares more about profits than maintaining its customers. Taking my business elsewhere - hope we all find a decent replacement for what used to be the best shampoo!

They changed the formula drastically

I've been using this shampoo and conditioner for years, back when it was "rosemary" scented and then "lotus" scented and now seemingly unscented. I've stuck by the product even as the price had gone up and up. But the most recent change feels drastic... no longer is the shampoo a milky white, but clear. After washing and conditioning, my hair is more tangled and left feeling sticky and unclean AND it's been actively falling out. Horrific. I am done with L'Oreal.

I have exclusively used and loved this shampoo for over 12 years, giving it 5 STARS and recommending it to everyone I know who dyes their hair. I have always bought three or four tubes at a time to make sure I don't run out. I was very confused in October 2024 when my new tube had a completely different product in it. For some reason, and without warning, you have changed the formula and the shampoo is now completely different. I have now used the new formula three times, and my scalp is now dry and itchy, my hair is dry and full of static, and my color has faded. PLEASE bring back the original formula ASAP! I believe the original formula is the [LOTUS] formula. In the meantime, I am forced to search for a better shampoo.

Sneaky formula change

I have been purchasing this shampoo for over a decade. When I recently ran out and purchased a new one from target, the app notified me that I had purchased it several times previously. I was really thrown off when I used it the first time and a thin clear gel came out of the tube and not the thick creamy formula I have loved for years. The new product does not lather as well and the scent is basically nonexistent. Very disappointing 😔 I double checked the bottle to see if there was a banner noting “new formula” since at quick glance it looks the same, but there is not. If you are going to change the shampoo, why not just market it as a new one and leave the one people have liked for years alone? I feel like the change was very deceptive and definitely NOT for the better. I am annoyed that I am now stuck with 2 tubes of it.

The new formula is awful. If I could it less than 1 star I would. I have been an avid EverPure user for 10 plus years and loved it. The new formula is runny, doesn’t lather as much and leaves my hair dull and not clean feeling. I have to use twice as much shampoo as before to get the it to lather and half runs out of your hand. Like all of the other recent reviews on this site, the new formula was an absolutely poor choice on L'Oreal's part. I've been exclusively using the shampoo for the past 5 years and absolutely loved everything about it. To call it the same product with this new formula feels wrong. This feels like an entirely new product that does the opposite of what myself and other users loved about it. Please, L'Oreal, bring back the old formula. I'm moving on to a new shampoo from another brand from here on, but would absolutely return to this product if the old formula was brought back.

L'Oreal's "New Coke" Moment

WHY in the world would L'Oreal change the formula for such a popular product? I have been buying the EverPure Volume shampoo for 10+ years and I loved it - it was easy to lather, cleaned my long hair well and didn't leave a coating on it. To switch from the creamy formula to a clear/gel formula was first of all shocking bc the bottle looked exactly the same - but then to see it did a HORRIBLE job at washing my hair, I couldn't have been more disappointed. Thank goodness I had an older bottle on hand so I have some time to search for a new product but I will NOT be shopping L'Oreal products as a replacement ever again - if this is how you treat LOYAL customers, no thank-you to ever doing business with you again. And to the product marketers at L'Oreal - Marketing 101 teaches the negative example of Coca-Cola thinking they were so smart by eliminating their original Coke formula for New Coke...the fact that you didn't learn from that most basic example means you should be fired.

Like many others here, I’ve been using this shampoo for years and it was perfect. Lathered well, left my hair shiny and healthy with no weigh down. This new formula is horrible. It doesn’t lather, feels very drying, doesn’t smell as nice, and just overall not a good shampoo. I won’t be buying it again sadly. I really hope you bring back the old formula or you’re going to lose a lot of consumers.

Terrible new formula

Terrible new formula that doesn’t lather and makes my hair feel dry and flat! It’s not even remotely the same as the previous formula so I don’t know how they can pass this off as the same product, especially without calling out “new formula” on the bottle. Lower cost for L'oreal but savings not passed on.

New formula made from less expensive cleaning agents( petroleum based) works ok but not as good as original. Price however remains the same .

Flat and dry. Will they revert?

The new formula leaves my hair flat and dry! Kinda like the New Coke. Will they revert to the old formula?? And how would I know? Will not buy again.

Can no longer use due to formula change

I have used this product for years and years but I sadly can no longer use it due to whatever change that was made in the formula - it now makes my hair flat/limp and does the complete opposite of being volumizing. I noticed the change in packaging also was new but whatever was done, especially to the shampoo, has effectively made it unusable.

I purchased the ever pure shampoo and conditioner to help add volume to my hair. My question is this, the conditioner foams up and has lots of suds like a shampoo, is this normal?

When will Loreal start using recyclable containers for your products? This was my very favorite shampoo - but throwing this packaging in the garbage is now indefensible.

I’ve been using the sulfate free EverPure products for many years, the tube type bottle. I love both the shampoo and conditioner but at some point the packaging changed and I find it difficult to squeeze the product out. Is it only me?

Why do the ingredients listed on the ever pure products, and listed here as a response to a question, contain sulfate and sodium (salt), but you have advertised and sold this to me as sulfate and salt free? Very Confused

  Hi there! Thank you for your interest in the EverPure Volume Sulfate Free Shampoo. Sulfates in shampoos are surfactants which function as foaming agents and emulsifiers. The term "sulfate" refers to the sulfate portion of the molecule. This portion of the molecule is associated with greater cleaning and foaming effects. Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate and disodium laureth sulfosuccinate are also foaming agents and emulsifiers but the sulfate portion of the molecule has been replaced. These ingredients are not chemically classified as "sulfates" and are generally perceived as milder surfactants. Chemically, surfactants clean by binding dirt and grease while remaining dissolved in water. The salt portion of the molecule, of which sodium is a part, allows it to remain dissolved. The new formula is so drying and I had broken strands from trying to comb through it. The conditioner makes my hair flat no matter if I use a smaller amount. This new version causes hair loss, flat and heavy hair that can’t keep a style, extremely difficult to rinse out, and I am quite upset about it. Last time I buy this product. The texture use to be creamy, now it's a clear sticky gel that requires twice as much product to clean your hair. Does your hairbfeel clean with the new formula? Nope. Not only is the shampoo a different texture, but whatever ingredients you switched out are causing a reaction on my scalp. My hair looks thinner, my scalp is irritated. Again, I have been using this shampoo with zero issues until you changed the formula. It's really unfortunate that you changed the formula out of nowhere, refused to announce the change, refused to put any warning on your [now poor] products, and refuse to change it back despite your customers leaving hundreds of reviews. I'm now on the lookout for a new shampoo - one that ISN'T L'Oreal brand.

But over the past several months (sometime in 2024) you changed the formula, which used to contain Lotus, and this new formula is terrible. The original shampoo was a creamy white consistency, smelled great, and left my hair smooth and full. This new shampoo formula is a clear liquid, smells just OK, and leaves my hair harder to get a comb through, even after I use the matching conditioner, which has also been changed. It's bad enough that you changed the formula, but you did so without telling the public. There is no message on the shampoo tube, nor is it written on your website. Why was the formula changed? Your customers have a right to know. If you read the reviews, both on your site and on your distributor's sites, you will notice that there are many people who are upset about this too. You have lost me (and many others) as a customer. For a huge, well-known, multi-billion-dollar company like L'Oreal, you are deceiving the public by not disclosing this change, and it is shameful. Secondly, I had called your customer service and spoke to someone who told me to check the lot number on the shampoo tube. I told her it had a "Y" in it. She told me to only buy the tube that has a "U", "X", or "W" and she sent me two $8 L’oreal coupons. She also seemed surprised that I thought the formula had changed. So I went on Amazon, and although they didn't say what the lot number was, the picture of the shampoo and conditioner and the description, all said "Lotus", so I took a chance and bought two sets of it. Much to my chagrin, although the lot number had an "X", it did not have Lotus on it or in it, and unfortunately, it is the new formula. Now I must return the products to Amazon. I’d often buy bottles in bulk and recommended it to so many friends. The new formula is absolutely horrible, doesn’t lather, and made my fine hair feel like straw - all thanks to the cheaper ingredients used. I returned it immediately when I realized what had happened. L’Oréal cares more about profits than maintaining its customers. Taking my business elsewhere - hope we all find a decent replacement for what used to be the best shampoo!

I've stuck by the product even as the price had gone up and up. But the most recent change feels drastic... no longer is the shampoo a milky white, but clear. After washing and conditioning, my hair is more tangled and left feeling sticky and unclean AND it's been actively falling out. Horrific. I am done with L'Oreal.

I have always bought three or four tubes at a time to make sure I don't run out. I was very confused in October 2024 when my new tube had a completely different product in it. For some reason, and without warning, you have changed the formula and the shampoo is now completely different. I have now used the new formula three times, and my scalp is now dry and itchy, my hair is dry and full of static, and my color has faded. PLEASE bring back the original formula ASAP! I believe the original formula is the [LOTUS] formula. In the meantime, I am forced to search for a better shampoo.

When I recently ran out and purchased a new one from target, the app notified me that I had purchased it several times previously. I was really thrown off when I used it the first time and a thin clear gel came out of the tube and not the thick creamy formula I have loved for years. The new product does not lather as well and the scent is basically nonexistent. Very disappointing 😔 I double checked the bottle to see if there was a banner noting “new formula” since at quick glance it looks the same, but there is not. If you are going to change the shampoo, why not just market it as a new one and leave the one people have liked for years alone? I feel like the change was very deceptive and definitely NOT for the better. I am annoyed that I am now stuck with 2 tubes of it.

I have been an avid EverPure user for 10 plus years and loved it. The new formula is runny, doesn’t lather as much and leaves my hair dull and not clean feeling. I have to use twice as much shampoo as before to get the it to lather and half runs out of your hand. Please change back to the old formula.

I've been exclusively using the shampoo for the past 5 years and absolutely loved everything about it. To call it the same product with this new formula feels wrong. This feels like an entirely new product that does the opposite of what myself and other users loved about it. Please, L'Oreal, bring back the old formula. I'm moving on to a new shampoo from another brand from here on, but would absolutely return to this product if the old formula was brought back.

I have been buying the EverPure Volume shampoo for 10+ years and I loved it - it was easy to lather, cleaned my long hair well and didn't leave a coating on it. To switch from the creamy formula to a clear/gel formula was first of all shocking bc the bottle looked exactly the same - but then to see it did a HORRIBLE job at washing my hair, I couldn't have been more disappointed. Thank goodness I had an older bottle on hand so I have some time to search for a new product but I will NOT be shopping L'Oreal products as a replacement ever again - if this is how you treat LOYAL customers, no thank-you to ever doing business with you again. And to the product marketers at L'Oreal - Marketing 101 teaches the negative example of Coca-Cola thinking they were so smart by eliminating their original Coke formula for New Coke...the fact that you didn't learn from that most basic example means you should be fired.

Lathered well, left my hair shiny and healthy with no weigh down. This new formula is horrible. It doesn’t lather, feels very drying, doesn’t smell as nice, and just overall not a good shampoo. Of course, the formula has been changed. Every time I find the perfect product, someone feels the need to mess with it. This used to be thick & creamy, & made my hair feel soft. Now it pours out like water, & my hair looks like a frizzy mess. At first I thought I bought an expired product, but all of them are the same now. Will NOT be buying this anymore. It used to have a wonderful lift while imparting moisture to my hair and scalp all with great color care and scent. Now its harsh, drying,(almost burning actually) and feels band on your hair and scalp in every way. Please Loreal don't fix what doesn't need fixing.

At first I thought maybe my hair was getting used to the new shampoo since i just started using it. But as soon as I started using the 'new' bottle, I could tell. One I didn't think the smell was so strong but I shrugged it off. Then my roots started getting really dry & I thought I was washing too hard. ugh then my dry scalp started getting oily & I could hardly make it through the day without a greasy head! All it took was a 2 second google search of 'did Loreal change the Ever Pure shampoo" and BOOM pops up everyone else comments that are exactly the same as mine! and with no explanation from Loreal!? Shame on you! What did you remove or add that you're hiding? We all deserve an explanation AND a refund.

I have dry, sensitive skin and liked that it was a gentle shampoo for my fine hair that was not drying or irritating. I just used the reformulation, and my scalp is irritated & feels like it's burning. I am so disappointed and will be returning the product. You've lost a loyal customer.

I don't know why you would suddenly change your formula and obviously try to hide it. The new formula is awful and my thin hair is now greasy and lifeless. You should make it obvious if you're going to change a staple formula especially when people have allergy concerns. Shame on your company.

My hair is flat weighed down and feels greasy. I thought I was crazy until I started reading reviews from other long time users. Unless it changes back I will no longer use this shampoo. In the mean time I will need to look for another volume shampoo.

It dried out my hair and makes my hair look flat, dull and lifeless. Unfortunately I just purchased 6 of them to have at home. I’m stuck with 6 new shampoos that I won’t even donate because it is so horrible. Loreal should have labeled the shampoo under a different name because it is not the same product.

My fine hair is tangling, even when using a conditioner afterwards causing it to break when trying to comb out. Horrible change - bring back the old formula!!

I stood in the shower just staring at the clear gel-like formula that came out of the bottle. This looks nothing like the creamy/milky formula I have enjoyed and used for years. The scent also is totally different. I hate it. I buy very few products that have any scent at all and this shampoo + conditioner combo was one of the few scented items I purposefully used. What happened? It seems like the wrong bottles ran through the shampoo factory and got filled with the wrong shampoo. There is nothing on the packaging that indicates change or “all new”. Please issue us an official explanation of mistake or intended new formulation. The shampoo has completely different feel and effect on my hair. Dislike. Please change it back.

My hair is now weighed down and doesn’t feel clean. I have used this rosemary shampoo with the conditioner for many years. Incredibly disappointed with L’Oreal’s decision to alter a product for the worse. Now I am forced to find a new reliable shampoo.

I’ve been using the sulfate free EverPure products for many years, the tube type bottle. I love both the shampoo and conditioner but at some point the packaging changed and I find it difficult to squeeze the product out. Is it only me?

Why do the ingredients listed on the ever pure products, and listed here as a response to a question, contain sulfate and sodium (salt), but you have advertised and sold this to me as sulfate and salt free? Very Confused
