They changed this cream!!!

I used to love this face cream, but they changed it. It used to be the only cream I could use on my sensitive face. I opened a new container last night and tried it, but there is now a very strong and unpleasant scent and the texture is like a gel that did not rub into my face well. It also left my hands and face feeling sticky. If you want to make a new product, fine, but don’t change a product that so many people already loved. I will never use this again!!!!!!

After L’Oréal shut down Garnier’s facial products in thhe US, I struggle to find a nice moisturizer. I tried the hydra renewal, and love it. It moisturizes my 55 yr old skin, and doesn’t feel greasy or clog my pores. It smells great too! I will continue to buy it, as long as they keep it! Thanks!

Been using this product for about 3 months and love it. It's affordable and it works. Yes it does burn a little bit when I apply it but I also have super dry skin and after a few seconds my face feels so soft. It's keeps my face soft all threw day even with make up products on. Definitely recommended 👌.

Burns your face!

I do not have sensitive skin and tried this lotion both morning and night. After a few days my face has been extremely sensitive and burning. I put it on tonight and had to immediately wash it off my face. I love L’Oreal, but this one I would stay far away from. Does not hydrate like other lotions I have used either.

Once opened, the PAO (Period After Opening) symbol, which looks like an open jar with a number and the letter "M" (for months), indicates how long the product is recommended to be used. I want to know if this cream is opaque or white. I have used the white version for over 30 years and now i can only find the opaque. I dont like it as much as the white version.

Why have you changed the formula for this formerly wonderful product? I hate the new one, and it's quite obvious - even in appearance that it has been changed. The previous was definitely white with a milky appearance, but it's translucent now. HATE IT!

Did you alter the Hydra-Renewal formula? We liked it because it always had a rich and creamy texture. Lately we have had jars that are thinner and a bit watery. HR has been one of our favorite products but it seems to have lost something. What’s up?

Regarding the new formula for "Hydra Renewal Continuous Moisture Cream," it's terrible. It does not absorb well, the fragrance is too strong, and it is watery. The old version was perfect. Why was it changed? This is very disappointing.

  You are 100% correct. I absolutely HATE the stuff that they are passing off as Hydra-Renewal now. I have 3 unused jars in my bathroom (because it used to be hard to find for a while; so I always buy quite a few when I restock) and I literally HATE THIS STUFF. It doesn't moisturize anything, and you're right about the scent. It is translucent, where it used to be a creamy, milky perfection. Whoever changed the formula messed it up royally; and I now HATE IT!

No matter how long i wait, i have to blot my face with a tissue (even an hour after application!) in order to put on my makeup ☹️. And even then, there are days it pills when I apply my powder foundation. I will continue using it at night, but I won’t buy it again. My skin likes anything with hyaluronic acid for moisturizing. I do want to warn others about the alcohol content. It seems like it has a lot of alcohol which can dry skin and kind of counteract with the moisturizer. If you have a blemish on your face and use this, it WILL burn.

The fragrance was perfected for sensitive skin (which I have scars ect, that irritate easily) hydration was perfect and how it dried was PERFECT under my makeup. The new formula is gel like, not hydrating at all, and the fragrance is HORRID and overwhelming to say the least. Please bring back the old stuff! Please! Look this product up everywhere online and read others testimonies! You'll see! You had a great thing. My skin aged so well because of this old formula. I'm now 40, and it's going downhill. Nothing works.

It has been reformulated to a more modern gel cream; compared to the beautiful rich dewy cream it was. Now it is more sticky and does not make my skin at all feel hydrated. If your oily or combo, you may like it. It is light and a gel, with a lighter weight formula. I have used this cream as a I go too since 1991. It has always been there for me as a wonderful hydrating cream in the winter or when I need extra moisture; for years. At a wonderfully nice price. I get that L’Oréal brands are updating for new clean efficiency but come on!!! Give me a break. Don’t mess up at least one classic cream): at least give us two options L’Oréal! A classic and the new reformulated. Also, you need to say it’s reformulated on the packaging. That is not fair to us that we purchase it, thinking to expect our holy grail. And then it’s just another classic example that companies think we are oblivious to changes in makeups, skincare and body products! We know when you change things, just by touching it!! We are not that naïve! I love your products and have always supported the brand. At least give us consumers options before you decide to make things, we didn’t sign up for!

As so many others have stated, instead of being the rich creamy moisturizer that was absorbed into the skin immediately, this new product is gel-like in consistency, has a strong smell and leaves a sticky residue on the face and fingers after applying it. I have searched in vain for jars of the "old" formula but cannot find it in stores or online. Please bring it back!

I have very dry skin and while I switch out other items (like serums and oils) in my routine, the HydraRenewal I cannot live without and is my #1 staple item. This is the only moisturizer that can be used on young (25) skin that deeply hydrates while staying light. Other moisturizers I’ve tried have been too heavy, but this leaves my skin illuminated and glowy without a heavy feel. I use it morning and night along with the matching Eye Defense both of which also have clean classy glass packaging. Buy this today, it will change you life.

The consistency, scent(or lack of), and all around feel was perfect! Fast forward to Jan 2020 and I was running low. Ordered a refill with Wal-Mart pickup. I opened it up that night and was instantly heart broken. The changes were obvious. I had just a few nights left of the old formula and sparingly cherished every dab until I had wiped the jar clean. I tried the new stuff, but it was very fragrant and sticky after applying. My husband took the brunt of my frustration as I huffed and puffed about it. Ended up using the rest as foot cream.. PLEASE bring the old formula back. I'm begging you!

I have oily skin. I love the consistency of the Hydra-Renewal, definitely a little goes a long way and its light on the skin (instant absorption). My skin feels soft and supple after application. However, the scent of this moisturizer needs to be improved significantly. It smells terrible.

Thought it was going to be discontinued so when I saw the "New" formula, I was excited and relieved. But this new formula does not have the same consistency as the old one. Smells awful, old formula was fragrance free. It also leaves my skin feeling tight with dry patches that flake off. Disappointed that I now have to hunt for a new cream.

The smell is foul & this new formula is nothing like the original - it burns my eyes, it leaves my skin dry & sticky. I am requesting that you please listen to your customers - I read all the reviews and all you repeatedly say is it's new & improved - We are telling you it is NOT improved. Our skin reactions don't lie and we ask that you bring back the old, AMAZING formula that you've heard we love. If you want to keep this god awful product, then how about branding it with a New Name (don't tempt me), and restore our Real Hydra-Renewal again. It's a win win if you think your product is so good. PLEASE bring back your original formula - you clearly have such a huge customer loyalty for it. Btw - I give this product a ZERO rating.

I have been using the old formula for many years and I, like others, have received many compliments on my skin. I've always told people that I use L'Oreal Hydra Renewal moisturizer. I will not be telling them that anymore. The fragrance is awful! Please go back to the formula you used before this one. We will all be so grateful!

Since you've changed the formula I've quit using the product because I does not work at all the same. I've started getting fine lines, and I refuse to use Loreal products because of none of them working for me. PLEASE bring back the old formula.

I love that you kept making this product, but your new formula is wretched. I will not buy it again unless it is made with the original formula..You have also ruined Triple Power moisturizer with some NEW formulation..I will be considering estee lauder for products from now on. I have extremely dry skin and it doesn't moisturize at all. My skin feels tight and dry. Ick!! The old stuff used to keep me moisturized for 24 plus hours and made my skin look super healthy!! I guess I will be spending my money elsewhere. What a waste!

I put so much on trying to get it to help but my face is dry and flaky all the time. I’ve tried other brands but they itch or burn my face. The old formula was great I used it for years and would be willing to even pay more to have it back.

I am very disappointed that a company like yours would changed this cream. You had to know over the years, this was a good product and now I expect you will loose a lot of dedicated customers. I for one will not by this cream again, you have lost my trust L’ORÉAL in your products. I returned the item to the store. I am looking for a new cream, it’s just a matter of time. I am not sure it will be the same if L’ORÉAL decide to return it to the original cream. TRUST, TRUST HAS BEEN VIOLATED.

I was running low and picked up a jar at Walmart and when I opened it it was "off" - totally different scent and a greasy, gel-like texture that doesn't absorb cleanly and leaves a sticky feeling residue. I ordered a jar on Amazon thinking I just got a bad batch but the one from Amazon is the same. After researching online it sounds like many others are discovering Loreal has changed this product but kept the same name. Very sad. Let the search begin yet again for a new moisturizing cream.

I have given your 'new' formula a try - 2 jars worth - and, sadly, will no longer use this product. The smell is the least of the issues- the consistency is terrible, not at all creamy, and it does not hydrate at all. Not shortly after applying and certainly not into the day. I have used L’Oréal products for years and changes made to some items have been an improvement. That is NOT the case with Hydra Renewal. As I’m sure you’re marketing department knows, once a customer moves to a new product it's likely they’ll try and begin using other products from the 'new' source. That is how I came to use L’Oréal over 20 years ago. Please listen to your loyal consumers and bring back the prior formula.

Was clearly white and now looks like glycerin and smell differently. Please go back to white creamy texture and less fragrant. I’m now 76 and hardly any wrinkles. Thank you.

It was not heavy like a cream but not thin like a lotion, just right. But the new formula is awful. It feels greasy and doesn’t make my skin as soft and smooth. I will probably not buy it again which makes me very sad.

And now L’Oréal changed it, and the new stuff does not feel right. I have tried a couple of other brands again, with no luck. All I can hope is that with all the others that are complaining, L’Oréal will bring back the old formula that worked so well for so long. Please! Change it back! I would pay more money if that’s the issue!

I am SO upset that the formula has changed. It’s ridiculous that you changed a heavy cream with nearly no scent to a light gel with high fragrance. For those of us that loved this, it’s now completely useless. This is just marketing, the new formula looks and feels just like all the other fad gel products on the shelves. So disappointed, especially in your robotic responses to these reviews claiming it is better when clearly it is not. How could you so drastically change a product that people used for decades??? I will not try any other creams from your line and waste my money and time if you’re just going to completely change products. You’re no longer a trusted brand for me, I will start the search elsewhere.

Thought I was getting the same cream (because it was in the same package) the last time I bought some but was surprised to see the color was different. Then I applied it and it was sticky and weird feeling. It doesn't seem to keep my face hydrated like before. After a few days of using it I started to break out. You recommended a different kind, but I don't like it. Haven't found anything yet I like. PLEASE bring back the old formula. I'm now searching other companies with no luck. Has anyone found anything close?

People always note how young I look, and I am sure it was in part because of the cream.But just opened a new jar and noticed off the bat it was different. It feels thin and slimy, and the fragrance isn't nice. It is like it's missing a crucial ingredient. I want the old formula back! Can't yall just leave stuff that works alone? Hate to change brands but can't stand this formula. Send me a new jar when you change it back!

It was the first moisturizer that actually hydrated my skin and made me feel like it was working. The gel-like texture of it was perfect for me. Unfortunately, I went to get a new jar and was abruptly hit with a different formula to my dissapointment. I was incredibly confused so I did research here and found that people didn't like the new formula like I did. People were raiving about the old formula so I did give it a try and I hate it. Everyone is allowed to have their own preference and the original formula just wasn't for me. It irritated my skin and left it feeling dry. I love the new formula and understand that both work for some people and not all. I hope that L'Oreal can make both formulas separate products because I would by the new formula in bulk.

Why have you changed the formula for this formerly wonderful product? I hate the new one, and it's quite obvious - even in appearance that it has been changed. The previous was definitely white with a milky appearance, but it's translucent now. HATE IT!

Regarding the new formula for "Hydra Renewal Continuous Moisture Cream," it's terrible. It does not absorb well, the fragrance is too strong, and it is watery. The old version was perfect. Why was it changed? This is very disappointing.
