Hesperidin Skincare Benefits:
Antioxidant
Brightening
Soothing

Also known as lemon peel extract or orange peel extract, hesperidin is a natural occurring flavonoid that occurs within citrus fruits (more specifically in the actual peels of lemons and oranges). In skin care, hesperidin appears as either a white or colorless crystalline structure. Studies show it can provide antioxidant and soothing properties that together contribute towards a brightened and improved skin appearance.

Hesperidin’s antioxidant protection helps to neutralize free-radicals present in the environment. This helps to lower levels of reactive oxygen species found in the skin, which may work to promote skin radiance. When topically applied, hesperidin also exhibits a soothing effect and reinforces the skin’s permeability barrier. As a result, skincare products, such as creams and ointments, often infuse hesperidin into formulation to help alleviate dry skin. 1
