Moisturizing

Chemically, carboxylic acid is an organic compound that contains a carboxyl group. In skincare, carboxylic acid is prevalently represented by aldobionic acids (ABAs), retinoic acids, vitamin C, and azelaic acid. Each carboxylic acid form contains its own set of chemical and physical traits, which enables a unique skincare effect. As a result, personal care products are able to use a combination of carboxylic acids to instill a variety of skin care benefits.1 In general, carboxylic acids are most effective in providing antioxidant and anti-aging protection, as well as improving moisture-retention. 2
