Resveratrol is a type of naturally occurring phenol that is produced by some plants, such as grapevines, in response to injure or after being attacked by foreign pathogens such as bacteria or fungi. Resveratrol is a major contributor in the antioxidant potential of red wine. It has several major biological activities which include the ability to act as a skin antioxidant. 1

The process of aging is caused by different factors, but the most common are environmental stressors (external to us). One of these environmental stressors includes what is known as oxidative stress-induced aging. What this simply means is that even though we require oxygen whenever we breathe, an excess can actually be toxic to our cells making them unhealthy.2
