Danielle Boyer

About

Danielle Boyer witnessed first-hand the lack of resources available to underserved youth interested in science and technology while she was being homeschooled with her younger sister, Brianne. While Brianne wanted to pursue robotics, there simply weren’t opportunities available to her, encouraging Danielle to start teaching classes at age 10. As a teenager, Danielle took matters into her own hands to break down the barriers to entry to key learning opportunities for the kids getting left behind by kickstarting The STEAM Connection, an innovative organization that creates diverse, accessible, and affordable science/tech educational materials for kids for free. The STEAM Connection focuses on the kids traditionally left behind when it comes to tech ed – something that’s especially close to Danielle’s heart as a queer, Ojibwe female. By offering free speaking engagements, books, and mentorship opportunities, The STEAM Connection allows every child learning opportunities that will guide them in their futures, no matter their circumstances. In just a year and a half, the platform reached tens of thousands of students, primarily girls and minorities, with accessible learning via a robotics kit invented by Danielle that costs less than $20 USD, school outreach, and much more. By empowering underserved youth with technical skills, Danielle is helping them take back power in their lives, paving the way for a more sustainable and innovative future.

Being a L’Oréal Paris Woman of Worth means uplifting and creating a community for children who are traditionally underrepresented through accessible technical education. Together, we can create the future that we want to see by supporting, listening to, and fostering our youth to celebrate their brilliant minds.
