Face Oil Skin Benefits:
Antioxidant
Moisturizing

Face oils are non-polar molecules that possess excellent emollient and antioxidant properties. The skin-hydrating benefits of facial oils can be attributed to their non-polar structure. As a means of protection, the skin creates a hydrophobic barrier that prevents water molecules from leaving. The essential oils present in facial oils possess non-polar structures that work to reinforce the hydrophobic barrier and help improve moisture-retention. 1 2 Certain facial oils may also possess antioxidant effects that help to protect the skin by neutralizing free-radicals that are present in the environment, thus promoting the appearance of younger, smoother looking skin. 3

In skin care, essential oils are often combined with different ingredients, such as vitamins, that altogether may allow for multiple or more potent skin benefits. Depending on the type of oil and nutrients used, essential oil skin care products can provide a wide-variety of moisturizing, skin-soothing properties with the additional benefit of antioxidant protection. 2 3
