October 26, 2020

No matter what you have on the agenda for the holidays, there’s no question you need a hairstyle to tie together your beauty look for each occasion. Whether you’re hosting your first big family dinner or having a small cocktail party with friends, you want your locks to be stylish but not too difficult to achieve. From stunning updos to classic curls—one thing to be thankful for is the endless amount of holiday hair inspiration out there. Ahead, we’re sharing six of our favorite and easy-to-do hairstyles to try this Thanksgiving.

1. Braided Bubble Ponytail

One of the reasons why we love ponytail hairstyles so much is that they’re so easy to create—it’s the perfect style for when you want to look put together but don’t have much time to spare. For a tousled, voluminous style, give a bubble braid ponytail a try.

To get the look, start by putting your strands in a high ponytail. Then, to add more texture, coat your hair in some of the
L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle BOOST IT Volume Inject Mousse. Then, begin to braid the length into a traditional three-strand braid. Secure with hair ties after every inch or so of braiding to create your “bubbles.” Gently tug at the braid to add more volume and body as you go.

2. Finger Waves

No matter your hair length, this vintage style is the ultimate A-list holiday look. Also known as finger curls, finger waves are a method of setting the hair into curls that sit closely on top of the head and look as if they’re coiled. With a few styling products and bobby pins, this glamorous look is easy to sweep to the side. Learn how to get the perfect waves with our guide, How to Get a 1920s Hairstyle.

3. Braided Headband

For the main event of this holiday—not to mention all of those relatives you only see a few times a year—you’ll want your hair to be looking its best for. Try adding a braided headband to your hairstyle of choice for an instant upgrade that’s sure to impress. To learn how to get the style, read our article, How To Get a Braided Headband Hairstyle.

4. Sleek Low Bun

If you’re working in the kitchen, you’re probably going to want your hair pulled back and out of the way. After all, you don’t want any stray ends to fall into one of your many dishes. During food preparation, a sleek low bun hairstyle is the way to go.

First, brush your hair and create a tight, low ponytail. Then, apply a hair serum, like the L’Oréal Paris Elvive Dream Lengths Frizz Killer Serum Leave-In, to help smooth your ends. Break the ponytail into two sections and secure the ends of each section with a clear mini elastic. Place a bobby pin vertically into the elastic and roll one section of your hair up, away from your face. Pin in place with another bobby pin and repeat on the other side of your hair. If your bun feels loose, add a few more bobby pins. If you notice any flyaways, apply a small amount of hair cream as a finishing touch.

5. Half-Up Bantu Knots

If you’re looking to sport your natural hair or even a protective style while also hopping on the half-up, half-down bandwagon, try a half-up Bantu knot ‘do. Not only is it eye-catching, but when you take out the knots, you’ll be left with gorgeous heatless curls

6. Zipper Braid

For those who prefer a whimsical holiday look, the zipper braid will suit your needs. The beautiful style features a unique braiding technique that pulls all of your hair off of your face for a glorious updo.

To get the look, simply brush your hair toward either side, grab a section of hair approximately two inches wide, divide it into three equally-sized strands and begin your weaving. this style can be a bit tricky to master, so we recommend checking out our article, How to Create a Zipper Braid, for a step-by-step guide.
