My go-to forever!

I have been using this highlighting kit for years and have never had a problem. I have natural red hair and get so many compliments on the blonde lites.
Note to other users: You cannot use " color remover " to remove blonde/bleach from your hair. Blonde/Bleach IS the color remover.
I always brush my hair and part it the way I usually style it before placing the cap on my head. This will ensure minimal to no tangles.
To pull hair through the holes, I find the metal hook is better than the plastic one. I poke through the hole and do a SMALL circle ( with the hook ) to grab the hair and pull it through. After I have pulled the hair through all of the holes I'm using, I will go back through and brush the hair that's been pulled out of the cap before ever applying the highlighting mixture.
Always check the tip of the hook every now and then because I find a build up of plastic on it that needs removed to provide better sharpness of the hook to pierce the holes.
I hope this helps anyone needing it because the color, ease of application, and price are very well worth it.

The Chardonnay box gives a very light, blonde color. However the circles on the cap are barely visible AND the hooks are awful. Forget the plastic one, totally useless. The metal one has such a blunt end that its hard to pierce the cap. After this last use I have sworn off this product due to the cap and hook. Have Loreal staff even tried to use this product? Please darken the circles AND provide a sharper, better hook. The bleach is great however.

Can't see the circles

I have frosted my hair with a cap several times over the years and they always had blue circles on the cap. I purchased a cap and it was Gray circles this time I found this to be very difficult to see the circles as particularly on the back I used two mirrors Go back to the colored circles so that we can see them over all my heart turned out okay

Great color but bad reaction

I’ve used L’Oréal hair color products for years. Results have always been consistent. I’ve used the La Petite Frost several times without using the frosting protective cream. Today, my hairdresser asked if I wanted to try the protective cream which I agreed to. Within 5 seconds, my scalp was burning! The hairstylist applied cold water to stop the burning. I will continue to use this product without the protective cream. I’m concerned for the safety of other users of this product. What is in the protective cream that would cause this reaction?

BAD CAP

I would have given a much higher rating if it weren't for the cap. The circles were barely visible & the hook was VERY hard to punch through the holes. OUCH - I was in the very center of the circle once I found it and could literally feel the cap material stretching before it went through. Seems like it made a bigger hole than needed. I see that this problem has been addressed at least a year ago & hasn't changed.
The color (caramel) is perfect on my dark blonde hair leaving it on 55 min.

I have used many different kinds of frosting kits and I do believe this will be my go to from now on. I love the color of the highlights. My hair is dark to medium brown and they came out the perfect shade of blonde. I pulled my hair through the cap by myself using the metal hook (little tricky on the backside but can be done). One thing that I discovered was if you have the hook facing up when pulling hair through it is much easier and grabs the hair right away. It only too me 15 min to do the front, top, and the sides. After pulling all the hair through I went back over with a fine tooth comb to ensure that the hair was pulled all the way through. The back was a little tricky like I said but I used a mirror and was able to do it as well. I have fine hair that is naturally curly so I went with the LaPetite frosting kit.

took for ever to pull the hair from the cap
I waited 70 minutes because my hair was dark brown , after it dried it had too many strange colors, in the front gold to yellow, in the back different shads of orange

Won't use again.. Plus can't remove color

I used La Petite frost "For longer hair" .
Now I can't remove the color. I have tried to remove these highlights with hair color remover and didn't work out well at all. I even colored over and didn't like how the color turned out I even matched my hair color. Now I used another hair color remover called "OOPS" as I did before. The blonde is still there. It won't come out. There's no solution now. Not happy at all

So frustrating!

I put the cap on..then could not get any hair thru the holes with the hook, tried both hooks. Had my husband even try and we both just got frustrated and gave up!!
I have used Preference hair color for many years and have been satisfied with that product, which is why I chose thus L’Oréal product.

Returning to the store

Got as far as putting the cap on and then the irritation mounted. I have FINE hair. I managed to get TWO strands of hair thru the cap then I struggled around the face area. The holes in the cap just kept getting bigger as I tried to get any significant amount of hair thru the cap. I could only imagine the liquid oozing thru the cap. Cannot express how ticked off I feel right now.

Bring the old version back!!

I have used this product for years and loved it. They have changed the cap and now there is no guide lines for which holes to pull through. Also, the circles are too light to see when looking in a mirror for the top/back of the head. I did not realize that there was 2 packets of lightening powders and once I found the second (after already finishing up) I wasn’t sure if I should have used both, or if the second one was a mistake. There is no longer a cap to cover the highlighted pieces. The only thing that I liked about the new version is that you get less when choosing your hair length so that there is less waste. Overall, so disappointed and will no longer be a customer.

Love Affair with La Petite Frost

I love La PEtite Frost. I have been using it for years. H75 Chardonnay gives my medium brown hair the perfect highlights to regain the blonde I had as a child. It is never brassy, and always works perfectly. And the smell of the conditioning shampoo...is heavenly.

Purchased the H55 Creme Caramel for highlights for a friend. Put the cap on their head to pull hair through the holes. The cap was so tough to get through using both the metal and the plastic picks through. It is the worst time I have ever had highlighting someones hair in 15 years. You had to almost shove the pick through the holes to pull hair through. Very upset customer.

hook snapped

I have been buying this product for years, this time i was definitely disappointed. The plastic hook into two pieces and I was unable to use it, so I had to use the metal one,which did not work for me, also the cap split on the seam line. Will probably give it one more chance, but not sure if I will use again

I used this one to add more highlights on top of my existing ones to add more volume and style. It was easy to use and the amount was just right for me. The color came out great. Tip. I stayed a little bit longer than recommended time on the instruction sheet to get deeper highlight result.

I have bought this exact box every month and never had a problem, until now. There was very little mixture so I didn't have enough for my hair . I only used one box before and now I have to buy another one . Which is wrong. I don't understand what u did different bc it still looks the same. Just less mixture

Decent results but fumes made me sick

Just a warning...if you're sensitive to smells and chemicals think twice about bleaching your hair with this. My hair turned out pretty good, but the fumes made me dizzy, lightheaded and nauseous. I did use it in a very well ventilated area, but it was still very strong. Will not purchase this again.

Easy to use

I used this product on my daughter's naturally blonde hair which varies in color from light to very dark blonde to give her more highlights. I have been using it for over a year alternating between H85 and H75 to keep her hair looking as natural as possible. When applying the dye to any hair that is already treated I make a point of only coloring the untreated hair i.e. avoiding the ends. This seems to work. All up it has been very easy way to give her the look she wanted at a inexpensive cost.

I purchased this product hoping I would get good results.The hardest part I experienced is having a hard time pulling hair through cap. I have very thin hair and I think that was the problem. But the results were fabulous. I had light brown hair and wanted blonde highlights. I keep doing a strand test and my hair processed in 20 minutes. I love the color highlights it gave me and what a great value.

We're sorry to here this! It sounds like you might be mixing up the La Petite Frost with the Frost & Design. While both are frosting kits, they don't come with the same components. There is no over cap for the La Petite Frost, for example. (refer to the instruction sheet to see what comes with the kit)

Extremely disappointed in this product! I've been frosting my hair for over 20 years using another product, but tried this one for the first time-Bad experience. The Cap was completely WORTHLESS!! NOTHING like advertisement on the Box. I threw Cap away out of frustration & used comb like other review I read. I ended up with yellow spots & I kept on for an hour!

I used this product on my non-color-treated hair. I had cut off all my previously color-treated hair and my new growth (untreated natural color) was a mousy brown with some subtle auburn undertones.
(I want to note here that I tried last year to go blonde at home, just a few weeks after coloring it dark brown. I got it to lift using some Clairol/L'Oreal blonde products, but I never got it above light orange...I then took myself to a salon and waited a year before doing anything at all to my head.)
So, I actually used this kit to lighten my entire head of thick, wavy pixie-cut hair. The mixture was barely enough for my whole head (which is pretty good, considering this is meant for just highlights). I was able to lift my natural mousy brown color to a very, very pale yellow (like the inside of a banana peel). It is important to note that I made certain to color my hair as thoroughly and evenly as possible.
The reason I used this box dye to go blonde (instead of picking up some lightener & developer) is because I saw that it came with a toning solution, which is AMAZING because toners are absolutely necessary for natural-looking blonde color, no matter what shade. The toning lotion that came in the box perfectly counteracted the yellow in my hair, enabling me to go almost-platinum in under three hours. The color I have now is a light natural blonde with a touch of coolness ("ash") to it, thanks to the toner.
Of course, keep in mind this would have taken much longer had I used this on color-treated hair, and I would have definitely needed a few boxes, and probably a separate bottle of toner. My hair had been washed and air-dried (no products, no styling) every day for almost a year, so it was extremely healthy and took very well to this radical lightening treatment.
L'Oreal, PLEASE PLEASE include toning with your other blonde products!! It's the ONLY way to get rid of the yellow and orange color that happens due to lightening, and it will help all of us achieve more natural-looking results, as you so attractively promise on your box.

I went with a short wispy haircut at age 49...soon to be 50, and I just needed a little kick in my strawberry blonde hair. The La Petite Frost was AWESOME! Just the right color, right amount and left my hair very soft and natural. Highly recommend this product.

I have been using this product for years! I have short hair and it doesnt leave my hair feeling unhealthy or coarse. If I had anything negative to say about it, it would be the cap. The cap used to have clearly visible black circles but then changed to very light invisible silver circles that are very hard to see. I usually use the same cap over and over to keep from having to punch holes in it every time and also have to draw my own circles either in red or black permanent marker. In reading other reviews, I see others have problems with cap as well. Keep up the great product L'Oréal but improve the cap, or go back to visible circles!

This product is by far the Best at home highlighting kit available for short hair. No orange or brass, just perfectly placed honey blonde highlights for less than $10 dollars! I hope this product is forever available!
