This is the worst please never use this unless you’d like your hair to end up on the floor & in your drain. I used this thinking it would solve my problem and help me get my hair back to brown! Nope just made my hair orange and broken. I’ve literally have never had more split ends in my life. Given it one star because I mean hey it got the hair dye out but unfortunately I didn’t know it would take it falling out to make it happen. Please do not buy this

Beware of breakage, very damaging, it's bleach.
This product was extremely damaging and caused a lot of breakage. I have used Color Oops brand remover before and my hair was left in good condition without breakage. Color Oops has no bleach or ammonia. I should have used it again instead of this Loreal product, but I tried the Loreal because I trusted the Loreal name. NEVER again! Serious damage to hair that had never had lightener on it before and was very healthy...large amounts of breakage with this product and I'm very sorry I used it. I followed the instructions exactly and this should not be the result. Beware...this product is absolutely bleach lightener. Please read all the reviews and the responses from Loreal refusing to accept responsibility for the box not being clear about the fact that this product is bleach. We are not chemists and the box must be clearly labeled. I trusted Loreal before this product and purchased it because it was Loreal. Be safe and use Color Oops.

Does exactly what it says
I had been dyeing my hair blue black for three years on top of blue dye and burgundy. This removed everything!!! Left me with an orange tone like it said on the instructions i dyed my hair red and let me tell you I cannot be more satisfied. It did a little bit of damage but nothing a deep conditioning can’t fix. I would definitely buy this again.
PD: yes, it is bleach but it pretty obvious considering it is a powder.

Unpleasant, Disappointing, I don’t even know!!!
Bought this product (Haircolor Remover) after going to the waterpark (wolf lodge) this weekend because their chlorine & saltwater system turnt my brown/blonde/purple highlighted hair green, blue, yellow, white all sorts of funky unwanted colors. Anyways, got this and a few boxes of some brown hair dye to hopefully fix my crazy hair but this color remover did not at all take out ANY of the color!!!! None of the greens/blues/purples, nothing… it just basically bleached my hair out and not even all of it, just parts of it… I don’t even know what it did really, definitely didn’t remove the unwanted color like it advertised to do so.

It changed my gray to white. My dyed brown hair is orange and white. It damaged my hair causing hair loss. I read the directions and followed them. Left it on 30 mins as my dyed hair Is medium brown. Will never buy it again!

DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT- MANUFACTURER ERROR
i actually wouldnt even give this one star, but it makes you do something to review. This product chemically reacted with SMOKE and extreme HEAT within seconds of touching my hair. Thankfully I am very seasoned in using this product and others as a professional. I washed this out within moments- my hair was strong, shiny, healthy and is now so badly damaged I am afraid to even brush my hair! I have sought help from a fellow professional to help the bonds in my hair and hopefully correct the EXTREME discoloration i now have in my hair. DO NOT USE this product. I bought 3 boxes and 2 out of 3 have had this effect on my hair. I have contacted LOREAL to make sure they know something has gone wrong at manufacturer, but they dont seem to care nor willing to refund me. What should have been a very simple, inexpensive removal of some black dye (the goal was just lift 2 or 3 levels) has become extremely stressful and costly to correct.

It was extremely liquidy hard to work with, and not only did it take out the dye, but it also took out my natural hair color and turned my hair, white to blonde ratio of both, when my hair is naturally brown I didn’t made my hair extremely stiff and nodded to where I had to brush out and took out majority of my hair

Not "color opps"
This product act as bleach. The results resemble a bad bleach job. They purposely do not include color samples for this reason. I wanted to go from dyed dark brown to a more natural lighter brown/dirty blonde. And took me to the orange/yellow/red pigment hair. It does not only remove artifical pigment as stated on the box (very misleading) it also removes natural pigment. Please please please stick to color opps to reverse any unwanted hair color. I only had it on 35 minutes and my hair is so severely damaged it would have been better to bleach it. I have to cut 20 inches of beatiful hair off now. Customer service will tell you well you should have done a strand test. I did honey and I wasn't expecting to the process so quickly. Given the poor reviews of this product it needs to be taken off the market and rebranded completely.

It’s bleach, not dye remover
It’s bleach. It should just say it’s bleach. If I had wanted to bleach my hair I would have purchased a product labeled as bleach. I’m not a chemist so reading the ingredients isn’t much help, I had naively assumed that the package labeling would be honest. My bad.
I should have done more research and purchased Color Oops instead. I wanted to strip the box dye from my hair prior to bleaching it because sometimes box dyed react poorly with bleach. Big mistake. Now I have to deal with Little Orphan Annie orange hair for a few days while my hair recovers from this fiasco, and by using bleach directly on my colored hair have basically done exactly what I wanted to avoid

This is bleach.... this dosen't just remove hair color it removes the natural color.. It left my hair 4 different colors... not at all happy. This should be taken off the shelves or the directions should be changed... its nothing but bleach.. tell the truth.. it removes more than hair color mistakes, it causes a bigger problem.

Turned my hair ORANGE.
I let the product sit in my hair for a while before getting in the shower. When I got out, ALL OF MY HAIR WAS ORANGE. When I thought it couldn't get any worse, IT DID. I put my wet hair in braids and went to bed. When I woke up the next morning, there were SPLOTCHES OF BLEACH ALL OVER MY HAIR TOO. Do not buy this product, unless of course you want bright orange hair with bleach splotches all over it, it's perfect if you want that!

I always buy color oops, and it's always been so good to me! However, the store was out, and I saw this. I thought it was odd it was peroxide, but I didn't question it at first. I also didn't question the powder either. However after it was applied and sat for a minute, I got a whiff of it....this is straight up lighter. Just to make sure, I grabbed my tub of bleach and compared. the ingredients...they were literally the exact same. Whoever decides to buy this, unless you're bleaching, DO NOT BUY IT.

Confused as the product calmed to remove hair dye and does not state that it would bleach or remove all hair color including your natural hair color. I would not recommend this product for anyone unless you are already blond under the dyed hair. Tried to move a color on my daughter's hair from Halloween that stained her hair. And it literally bleached it. If I knew it was going to be that harsh I wouldn't have used it

BLEACHED MY HEAD. I have naturally brunette hair and have dyed my hair and bleached it multiple times. I went blonde and then put brown over it but had red undertones around my roots so I used color remover. I used color oops yesterday and it worked amazing but needed to do another session so I got this. absolutely smelled like bleach I read the box and it said nothing about it containing bleach. I am now ginger, my roots are orange it’s so bad. I have no clue how i’m going to fix this and my (very damaged already) hair cant take more bleach. never use this product don’t even try😭

I have blonde highlights and i recently put a purple color deposit in my hair. I decided I wanted to remove the remaining purple so I tried this product. It removed the purple but it also bleached my natural colored dark brown hair. If I knew it was a bleach I never would've used it. Now I have orange friggin hair. There should be a warning on the box that states "this product contains bleach and will remove color from natural hair"

I applied it to my hair and left it on for less than 5 minutes and it bleached my hair! This it not a product you should use if your trying to go back to your natural hair!!

Honestly it’s to unpredictable
I used this product to take out my pink and lavender hair dye so I can change colors. It was right before I was to go out for Halloween and I put it in my hair and it started to turn dark like black I thought to myself this doesn’t seem right, but I thought it might be activating my lavender. NOoo much worse it dyed my hair JET BLACK. Mind you I have done a lot of damage to my hair to get it blond ! And to put a “color removal” in My hair and it dyed it dark black. It was horrible so I spent the next week trying to get my hair blond again. I’m so angry. Than I wrote to them and they said all they can do is give me a coupon. Wow!!!!! Please tell me if there’s anyone out there who had the same experience.

Worked wonderfully for me, natural redhead
This product worked awesome for me. I am naturally auburn and regularly color a few shades brighter to hide my greys. . For some silly reason, I wanted to try being brunette. I picked a color that was supposed to be a deep brown with mahogany tint. Well any redhead will tell you, red hair is notoriously difficult to color without surprises. My mahogany brown came out purple/black, and I hated it. I spent the next day wearing a hat, then tried this product. It worked just as the directions said it would. I watched the color progress carefully and rinsed as soon as it looked light enough for me. As an added bonus, the resulting color was so close to my normal color that I didn’t need to re-dye it! Folks having trouble with this, or trying it for the first time, really should do the strand test first so they know what to expect and when to rinse. I am very happy with my results and would use this again if needed.

I have used color removers several times in the past to prep for new dyes and have NEVER had this issue! I purchased this product to remove a previous dark red dye from my daughter's head, who is a natural brunette BTW, in order to prep for another dye. However, instead of simply REMOVING the color, as the box states "haircolor remover". IT BLEACHED HER WHOLE HEAD! I am beyond irritated with this horrible product! DO NOT BUY THIS TO REMOVE COLOR! It is NOT a COLOR REMOVER! IT IS BLEACH!
Actual Color remover enters the hair and removes any ARTIFICIAL pigment, but your NATURAL PIGMENT REMAINS UNTOUCHED. This will leave your natural hair color INTACT and will NOT damage your hair.

Terrible, do not buy!
This is not a “color remover” it’s bleach. It states on the box that it is too remove semi-permanent and permanent hair color, but it bleached my hair. I just wanted the black out if my hair before my senior prom, and now it’s bleached and very damaged. I only left in for 10 min before realizing something was wrong.

Contrary to what these other reviews say…
this is a great product! I feel like the people leaving bad reviews just did not read the box. it clearly states that your hair will NOT return to its natural color. this product is more-so a specialized bleach, and bleach is obviously going to damage your hair. i go lots of crazy colors for my hair and this product is the only one that has EVER taken royal bright blue out of my hair!! i’ve tried pretty much every other color remover on the market and this one is the best for what i want. i do wish it came in a bigger bottle though, i have lots of thick hair (just past my shoulders, but THICK) and i tend to need 2-3 bottles.

I attempted to dye my hair a natural brunette color to cover my grays and match my natural hair color and did not like the result so I purchased this thinking it would "remove the color". It bleached my hair! Now my roots are 15 shades of orange and I have to get it corrected at a salon! The box should say "THIS IS BLEACH" not just haircolor remover!

I'm disappointed with my purchase
I decided to go blonde after having had darker dyed hair for years (I am naturally blonde) & wanted to use this product to remove the color that was used 4 months before I applied the color remover. I left it in for an hour, and my hair was not very dark at all to start with, more like a dirty/dark blonde. I could tell it was immediately very patchy and ended up orange and yellow all over, but I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt until I washed it out. Once my hair was dried, I was so embarrassed at the color. I used my blonde hair dye after, since it says ready for immediate color after use & it really didn't change the color at all. Im just really disappointed & I feel like the only thing to help my hair would to try the color remover again, since it did accomplish the idea of lightening my hair, but I'm very hesitant to spend more money on your product. I don't want to full on bleach it, but I feel your product may be the less dangerous option in terms of fixing the problem. I would really like to either be compensated for my first purchase or sent another package of the product so I can hopefully give a great review afterwards. I really look forward to hearing back from you, I hope it's soon because I'm embarrassed of the state of my hair color.

Loreal Haircolor Remover Worked for Me!
After a completely botched all over highlight treatment that left large chunks of reddish blonde hair clown yellow, I purchased Loreal Haircolor Remover and Loreal Excellence Hair Color 8G (Medium Golden Blonde).
I waited 24 hours after the initial highlight color, as noted in the guide. I read the entire instruction guide VERY carefully, especially the timing chart, and knew to expect a yellow base once the remover was applied. After about 10 minutes, my hair turned yellow (with darker roots still showing). I washed out the remover and dried my hair.
I then applied the hair color (all over application) starting with my roots through the ends of my hair. After 25 minutes I could tell that the color had bumped to a uniform reddish blonde - the usual outcome using Golden Blonde on my hair. The deep conditioner included with the hair color did it's job, leaving my long hair and ends silky and smooth. I couldn't have asked for a better outcome and am very pleased.

Had put dark brown on my medium blonde hair and it turned coal black. Hair was fragile, breaking, dull and yucky. Used colorist secrets and loved it. Only negative is that it says not to get near scalp and so have black roots. Like this caramel color it left my hair so much that actually thinking instead of dying it medium blonde all over instead going to streak it in. Followed directions to a T. PS - Call L'oreal for help before you use the product. They were great.

My teenage daughter purchased this hoping to get rid of some color from a few months ago. She did not realize it was going to bleach her hair and turn the purple in it pink. I was not with her at the time, so I did not read the info on the box until later. Yes, it does state that this does not restore your original hair color, but rather gets it ready to be recolored, but I do think this should be more clear and especially stated that it bleaches your hair. Ultimately, the responsibility is on my daughter for not reading this clearly, and on me for assuming she had researched this (she usually does), but I do want to leave this comment so that others can understand what they are about to do before they do it.

I got this today to lighten the red so i could dye my hair purple. Worst decision ever it bleached my hair. I didn't want a bleach. My hair LONG hair now needs to be cut from being bleached twice. Really disappointed I knew it wouldn't remove all the color but I didn't think this was bleach. My hair won't even take the purple dye it's a weird orange and bleach blonde color.

I’m still new to the world of hair color on myself-I dye my daughters’ all the time. There was this AWFUL red we used on mine. I let it wait about 3 weeks then couldn’t do it anymore. Last night I used this product but was kind of scared after reading the reviews. It worked SO WELL for what it was supposed to. I could’ve put dye on my hair straight away but I was tired so that will be today :).

Will be using this again!
This is the first haircolor remover I've ever used and I'm very impressed. I was blond for quit awhile and decided to dye my hair purple. The purple faded into a hot pink and I didn't really like it. This stuff removed 99% of the pigment. It left my hair a lavender color afterwards. I was really happy to see how well it worked. I just need to bleach it and I'll by happily blond again. I'll def be using this again!

Nowhere on the box did it say anything about bleaching your hair... it’s just a bleach kit disguised as a hair color remover. Ruined my hair.

Worst color removal
bought it to remove the at home color to go to a lighter color, im naturally blonde wanted to color a warmer blonde as i am currently red.. waited 45 mins my hair is orange it did not remove the color like the color oops.. i bought because it was 2 bucks cheaper then the oops.. never again.. now need to redye red and wait another 2 months.
