The directions say you will end up with orangish colored hair. The directions say you will NOT return to your original hair color. The directions say you will need to recolor your hair after use of this product! With all this in mind, and with my thick, below shoulder length hair, I bought and used two applications/packages. It removed my red mistake and lightened my dark auburn colored hair (x25 years) and left me with bright orange hair. I elected to wait a day to recolor my hair. I'm 90% gray by the way. My test strand of "Reddish Blonde" looks gorgeous even though I seem to have had three shades of orange. I applied color to the root of test strands (lighter two shades) and then after 13 minutes, I applied the color to the rest of the strand. My results are gorgeous.

I am a licensed cosmetologist and usually use color oops which works great . Unfortunately the store was out. My hair has never been bleached , my hair naturally is dark brown but had been dyed to black , now I know these products do not take your hair back to natural color , nothing can do that , usually the hair will come our orangish with some brassy tones . But this product took my hair from black to blonde like straight up bleach blonde. Ladies next time before going this route you might as well get bleach or try color oops. This stuff is horrible.

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE DO NOT BUY UNLESS YOU WANT TO LOOK LIKE A TROLL WITH ORANFE HAIR. I used this for less than recommended time and it turned my hair orange. Awful. Would sue if process wasn’t so complicated. Would give negative stars if I could.

This is the worst please never use this unless you’d like your hair to end up on the floor & in your drain. I used this thinking it would solve my problem and help me get my hair back to brown! Nope just made my hair orange and broken. I’ve literally have never had more split ends in my life. Given it one star because I mean hey it got the hair dye out but unfortunately I didn’t know it would take it falling out to make it happen. Please do not buy this

Light Tinted Hair: 10-20 minutes(Until hair appears a gold/orange tone).

Beware of breakage, very damaging, it's bleach.

This product was extremely damaging and caused a lot of breakage. I have used Color Oops brand remover before and my hair was left in good condition without breakage. Color Oops has no bleach or ammonia. I should have used it again instead of this Loreal product, but I tried the Loreal because I trusted the Loreal name. NEVER again! Serious damage to hair that had never had lightener on it before and was very healthy...large amounts of breakage with this product and I'm very sorry I used it. I followed the instructions exactly and this should not be the result. Beware...this product is absolutely bleach lightener. Please read all the reviews and the responses from Loreal refusing to accept responsibility for the box not being clear about the fact that this product is bleach. We are not chemists and the box must be clearly labeled. I trusted Loreal before this product and purchased it because it was Loreal. Be safe and use Color Oops.

I had been dyeing my hair blue black for three years on top of blue dye and burgundy. This removed everything!!! Left me with an orange tone like it said on the instructions i dyed my hair red and let me tell you I cannot be more satisfied. It did a little bit of damage but nothing a deep conditioning can’t fix. I would definitely buy this again.
PD: yes, it is bleach but it pretty obvious considering it is a powder.

Unpleasant, Disappointing, I don’t even know!!!

Bought this product (Haircolor Remover) after going to the waterpark (wolf lodge) this weekend because their chlorine & saltwater system turnt my brown/blonde/purple highlighted hair green, blue, yellow, white all sorts of funky unwanted colors. Anyways, got this and a few boxes of some brown hair dye to hopefully fix my crazy hair but this color remover did not at all take out ANY of the color!!!! None of the greens/blues/purples, nothing… it just basically bleached my hair out and not even all of it, just parts of it… I don’t even know what it did really, definitely didn’t remove the unwanted color like it advertised to do so.

It changed my gray to white. My dyed brown hair is orange and white. It damaged my hair causing hair loss. I read the directions and followed them. Left it on 30 mins as my dyed hair Is medium brown. Will never buy it again!

i actually wouldnt even give this one star, but it makes you do something to review. This product chemically reacted with SMOKE and extreme HEAT within seconds of touching my hair. Thankfully I am very seasoned in using this product and others as a professional. I washed this out within moments- my hair was strong, shiny, healthy and is now so badly damaged I am afraid to even brush my hair! I have sought help from a fellow professional to help the bonds in my hair and hopefully correct the EXTREME discoloration i now have in my hair. DO NOT USE this product. I bought 3 boxes and 2 out of 3 have had this effect on my hair. I have contacted LOREAL to make sure they know something has gone wrong at manufacturer, but they dont seem to care nor willing to refund me. What should have been a very simple, inexpensive removal of some black dye (the goal was just lift 2 or 3 levels) has become extremely stressful and costly to correct.

It was extremely liquidy hard to work with, and not only did it take out the dye, but it also took out my natural hair color and turned my hair, white to blonde ratio of both, when my hair is naturally brown I didn’t made my hair extremely stiff and nodded to where I had to brush out and took out majority of my hair

This product act as bleach. The results resemble a bad bleach job. They purposely do not include color samples for this reason. I wanted to go from dyed dark brown to a more natural lighter brown/dirty blonde. And took me to the orange/yellow/red pigment hair. It does not only remove artifical pigment as stated on the box (very misleading) it also removes natural pigment. Please please please stick to color opps to reverse any unwanted hair color. I only had it on 35 minutes and my hair is so severely damaged it would have been better to bleach it. I have to cut 20 inches of beatiful hair off now. Customer service will tell you well you should have done a strand test. I did honey and I wasn't expecting to the process so quickly. Given the poor reviews of this product it needs to be taken off the market and rebranded completely.

It’s bleach, not dye remover

It’s bleach. It should just say it’s bleach. If I had wanted to bleach my hair I would have purchased a product labeled as bleach. I’m not a chemist so reading the ingredients isn’t much help, I had naively assumed that the package labeling would be honest. My bad.
I should have done more research and purchased Color Oops instead. I wanted to strip the box dye from my hair prior to bleaching it because sometimes box dyed react poorly with bleach. Big mistake. Now I have to deal with Little Orphan Annie orange hair for a few days while my hair recovers from this fiasco, and by using bleach directly on my colored hair have basically done exactly what I wanted to avoid

I let the product sit in my hair for a while before getting in the shower. When I got out, ALL OF MY HAIR WAS ORANGE. When I thought it couldn't get any worse, IT DID. I put my wet hair in braids and went to bed. When I woke up the next morning, there were SPLOTCHES OF BLEACH ALL OVER MY HAIR TOO. Do not buy this product, unless of course you want bright orange hair with bleach splotches all over it, it's perfect if you want that!

I always buy color oops, and it's always been so good to me! However, the store was out, and I saw this. I thought it was odd it was peroxide, but I didn't question it at first. I also didn't question the powder either. However after it was applied and sat for a minute, I got a whiff of it....this is straight up lighter. Just to make sure, I grabbed my tub of bleach and compared. the ingredients...they were literally the exact same. Whoever decides to buy this, unless you're bleaching, DO NOT BUY IT.

I used this product to remove blue dye from my hair. DO NOT USE THIS!! My hair is now dry, bottle and breaking off in huge clumps. My hair is completely damaged and looks horrible!!!! I wish I could sue for the damage done & how bad my hair looks now.

Confused as the product calmed to remove hair dye and does not state that it would bleach or remove all hair color including your natural hair color. I would not recommend this product for anyone unless you are already blond under the dyed hair. Tried to move a color on my daughter's hair from Halloween that stained her hair. And it literally bleached it. If I knew it was going to be that harsh I wouldn't have used it

BLEACHED MY HEAD. I have naturally brunette hair and have dyed my hair and bleached it multiple times. I went blonde and then put brown over it but had red undertones around my roots so I used color remover. I used color oops yesterday and it worked amazing but needed to do another session so I got this. absolutely smelled like bleach I read the box and it said nothing about it containing bleach. I am now ginger, my roots are orange it’s so bad. I have no clue how i’m going to fix this and my (very damaged already) hair cant take more bleach. never use this product don’t even try😭

I have blonde highlights and i recently put a purple color deposit in my hair. I decided I wanted to remove the remaining purple so I tried this product. It removed the purple but it also bleached my natural colored dark brown hair. If I knew it was a bleach I never would've used it. Now I have orange friggin hair. There should be a warning on the box that states "this product contains bleach and will remove color from natural hair"

This product is absolutely terrible. My hair is dark brown naturally. I normally go with color oops but it they were out at stores near me. So I figured I would give this a try. I applied it to my hair and left it on for less than 5 minutes and it bleached my hair! This it not a product you should use if your trying to go back to your natural hair!!

I used this product to take out my pink and lavender hair dye so I can change colors. It was right before I was to go out for Halloween and I put it in my hair and it started to turn dark like black I thought to myself this doesn’t seem right, but I thought it might be activating my lavender. NOoo much worse it dyed my hair JET BLACK. Mind you I have done a lot of damage to my hair to get it blond ! And to put a “color removal” in My hair and it dyed it dark black. It was horrible so I spent the next week trying to get my hair blond again. I’m so angry. Than I wrote to them and they said all they can do is give me a coupon. Wow!!!!! Please tell me if there’s anyone out there who had the same experience.

Haircolor Remover does not restore hair to its original, natural shade, but instead prepares it for re-coloring so that you can color your hair with any shade you like. Our haircolor remover kit is not recommended for trendy fashion colors. We are sorry to hear this happen.

Worked wonderfully for me, natural redhead

This product worked awesome for me. I am naturally auburn and regularly color a few shades brighter to hide my greys. . For some silly reason, I wanted to try being brunette. I picked a color that was supposed to be a deep brown with mahogany tint. Well any redhead will tell you, red hair is notoriously difficult to color without surprises. My mahogany brown came out purple/black, and I hated it. I spent the next day wearing a hat, then tried this product. It worked just as the directions said it would. I watched the color progress carefully and rinsed as soon as it looked light enough for me. As an added bonus, the resulting color was so close to my normal color that I didn’t need to re-dye it! Folks having trouble with this, or trying it for the first time, really should do the strand test first so they know what to expect and when to rinse. I am very happy with my results and would use this again if needed.

Like the other reviews this product is awful according to the box it would only remove artifical haircolor....my hair is now white and orange I can't leave my house till my hairstylist can see me...next week.
