In some cases, there are skin care routine steps that vary whether you have dry or oily skin. But, there are also a few skin care basics that are appropriate for any skin type. Take a look at your current daily skin care routine and be sure that you are hitting these skin care essentials on a regular basis:
Skin care routine basic step #1: Clean skin makes for beautiful skin. No matter your skin type, you should always try to start and end your day with clean skin. If you have dry skin, consider gentle cleansing options and if have oily skin look for cleansing skin care products that can help keep excess oil and shine in check.
Skin care routine basic step #2: Wear SPF to preserve your skin’s natural beauty. Rain or shine, it’s important that you protect your skin from potential skin aging sun damage, every day. And, that sentiment applies to all skin types. You won’t only want to protect your skin from lobster-like complexions, but also from the premature development of fine lines, wrinkles, age spots and sagging skin too. Look for a sunscreen, day cream or other skin care product that is formulated with SPF broad spectrum protection so that you are better shielded from both UVA and UVB rays.
Skin care routine basic step #3: Moisturize your skin in the AM and PM. It doesn’t matter whether you have dry skin, oily skin or a skin type in between. Your skin needs to be replenished with moisture after cleansing. Look for lightweight moisturizing skin care products if you have oily skin and consider layering a serum, cream and even facial oil to hydrate your skin if you have dryness.
Skin care routine basic step #4: Remove makeup before bed. This seemingly simple skin care routine step may not take a lot of time, but it can make a big difference in your beautiful skin efforts – and yes that’s whether you have dry skin or oily skin. If you have dry skin, day-old makeup can amplify the look of dull, lackluster skin. And, on the other hand, makeup residue can mix with excess oil on the surface of your skin, which can be likely to clog your pores if you have an oily skin type.
Sure, there are some skin care steps that won’t always cross over to all skin types, but these are the few basics that anyone, dry skin, oily or otherwise, can benefit from. So, try to make time for these four fundamental steps in your daily skin care routine.
