As 2017 comes to a close, you may be brainstorming what your newest batch of New Year’s resolutions should be. While we totally support the commitment to eating well and staying active, today we’re here to talk to you about beauty resolutions—and easy changes you can make to your skin care routine in 2018. From removing makeup every night with a no-rinse facial cleanser to applying a moisturizer with SPF every morning as directed to brightening the look of your complexion with a charcoal mask to using an anti-aging cream to help diminish the look of fine lines and wrinkles, here are seven skin care resolutions to stick to in 2018.
Don’t skip out on your morning skin care before heading out for the day. Reach for a facial cleanser formulated for your skin type to kick things off on the right foot so that you’re not applying moisturizer of makeup overtop dirty skin. Try the L’Oréal Paris Pure-Clay Detox & Brighten Cleanser, L’Oréal Paris Pure-Clay Purify & Mattify Cleanser, or L’Oréal Paris Pure-Clay Exfoliate & Refine Cleanser. Squeeze a small amount of your facial cleanser of choice into your hands and add water to transform it from clay to mousse. Gently massage the facial cleanser onto your face in circular motions, then rinse off thoroughly with lukewarm water.
One of the biggest beauty faux pas you can make is sleeping in your makeup. That’s because when you sleep, your makeup can mix with the dirt and oils that have built up on the surface of your skin—and this can lead to clogged pores, which can lead to breakouts and blackheads. To make things easy on yourself, keep a bottle of no-rinse micellar water, like the L’Oréal Paris Micellar Cleansing Water Complete Waterproof Cleanser for All Skin Types, on your nightstand. All you have to do is saturate a cotton pad with the micellar water and wipe the pad across your face. (Here are 5 Micellar Water Hacks That Will Make Your Skin Care Routine Easier.)
Help keep your skin hydrated to help ensure it looks its best. The key to doing that? Applying moisturizer morning and night—regardless of your skin type. Choose from the L’Oréal Paris Hydra Genius Daily Liquid Care for Normal/Oily Skin, L’Oréal Paris Hydra Genius Daily Liquid Care for Normal/Dry Skin, and L’Oréal Paris Hydra Genius Daily Liquid Care for Extra Dry Skin. These three moisturizers are formulated with hyaluronic acid and aloe vera water to help provide long-lasting hydration. Smooth your moisturizer over damp skin post-cleansing to help lock in hydration.
No matter the time of year—or the weather—you should always take the time to apply broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher as directed. But don’t stop there. Additionally, other sun protection measures you should take daily are limiting your amount of time in the sun (especially during the sun’s peak hours between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.), seeking shade, and covering up exposed areas in long sleeves, pants, a broad-brimmed hat, and UV-blocking sunglasses. To make your sun protection routine a little easier, consider using a moisturizer with SPF, like the L’Oréal Paris RevitaLift Bright Reveal Brightening Day Moisturizer SPF 30, as the last step in your morning skin care routine. Just remember to reapply at least every two hours or immediately after swimming or sweating.
It’s never too early—or too late—to start an anti-aging skin care routine. With the right skin care products, you can help minimize signs of aging, like fine lines and wrinkles, with continued use over time. To get started, try the L’Oréal Paris RevitaLift Cicacream Face Moisturizer Pro Retinol & Centella Asiatica. This lightweight cream immediately makes skin feel softer and look smoother while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles with continued use over time. (Read What Is Cica Cream? to learn more about how this skin care product works.)
Dead skin cells can build up on the surface of your skin, leaving your complexion looking dull. So, make sure to use a face scrub to help exfoliate this buildup away for smoother-looking and softer-feeling skin. We’ve got three options for you to choose from: the L’Oréal Paris Pure-Sugar Purify & Unclog Scrub, L’Oréal Paris Pure-Sugar Smooth & Glow Scrub, and L’Oréal Paris Pure-Sugar Nourish & Soften Scrub. Apply your face scrub of choice to dry skin, then add water and gently massage the face scrub into your skin before rinsing off thoroughly. Use three times a week. Bonus: You can use any of these three face scrubs on your lips, too!
Who doesn’t want a radiant-looking complexion? After all, that’s basically the biggest skin care goal. Meet that goal by adding a charcoal mask, like the L’Oréal Paris Pure-Clay Detox & Brighten Face Mask, to your skin care routine three times a week. This face mask is formulated to draw out the buildup of dirt, oils, and impurities from the surface of your skin and reduce the appearance of dull skin immediately. Just apply an even layer to clean, dry skin, leave it on for 10-15 minutes, then rinse off thoroughly with lukewarm water.
