Whether you were dancing the night away with friends, at a company party or with a special someone; the morning after a late night out can be brutal – and not just for your head or feet, but your skin too. When you are tired you are more likely to have dull skin and dark circles; two giveaway signs that you may have turned in a few hours too late. Regular rest is a part of the best skin care routine, but if you happen to stay out past your typical bedtime, every so often, there are ways to wake up your tired, dull skin.
Go to bed with a moisturizing mask on. Prep your dull skin for a quick renewal by going to bed with an overnight mask on your skin. Even if you’ve returned home late, you should remove your makeup and cleanse your skin. Day-old makeup residue will only contribute to a tired appearance. Once your skin is clean and fresh apply an overnight mask with revitalizing ingredients. RevitaLift® Triple Power™ Intensive Overnight Mask will hydrate your skin and work to help visibly reduce the look of wrinkles.
Take a shot of apple cider vinegar to charge system. Apple cider vinegar, when consumed in its pure form, is thought to have many health benefits. One of those benefits is that apple cider vinegar can help detoxify the body. It may also help balance your pH levels. Clearing your dull skin of toxins can help give your skin – and body – the boost it may need after a long a night.
Follow with a glass of green juice. Wash down the sour taste of the apple cider vinegar with a glass of green juice. Dark leafy greens are especially good for the skin as they are packed with beta-carotene, an antioxidant that helps renews skin’s natural glow – something that may be lacking this morning. To give your dull skin a boost, try a juice with kale, Swiss chard and spinach.
Sip on herbal tea. Chamomile tea is full of antioxidants, and so is rooibos tea, which can also help alleviate a headache and ginger tea may help soothe an upset stomach. If you were out late and didn’t get enough sleep you may not be feeling your best – and that can reflect in your skin.
Stay hydrated. Hydration is important any day, but today it is one of the most important skin solutions on the list. It’s easy for your skin to become dehydrated, especially if you enjoyed a few glasses of wine the night before. A lack of water can result in dull skin, puffy under eyes and even dark circles. Be mindful that you need to stay hydrated and aim to drink water throughout the day.
Place a cold spoon or cucumber compress under your eyes. If you didn’t get much sleep and have woken up with puffy under eyes and dark circles, you shouldn’t be surprised. While not the only cause, a lack of sleep can contribute to dark circles. De-puff and help spark blood circulation under your eyes by applying a cold compress under to your eye area for five to ten minutes.
Lay your moisturizer on thick and leave it there. After cleansing, apply your regular moisturizer to your skin in a thick glob and let it rest on your dull skin for ten minutes while you eat breakfast or check a few morning emails. Then, before you apply your makeup, rub in the moisturizer to hydrate and refresh your skin.
Follow these skin solutions to help give your dull skin the boost it needs after a late night out. Remember that getting enough sleep is an essential part of having your best skin, but if you happen to need a quick skin pick-me-up from time to time, there are a few ways to get a fast fix.
