Ah, winter! While we’re huge fans of the holiday season, the season is not without its downsides. The cold weather that comes with it can bring about a whole new set of skin care concerns—one of the most common of which is dry skin. Cold winter air lacks moisture and that can lead to your skin feeling drier than usual during this time of year. Pair the dry outside air with even drier indoor air (thanks to indoor heating), and your skin may feel completely parched. The good news is, we’ve got plenty of skin care products that are perfect for helping to keep your skin hydrated during the winter. So, what are you waiting for? Add the following eight products to your winter skin care routine stat!
Complexion looking a little on the dull side this winter? Unfortunately, dullness is a side effect of dry skin. Harsh environmental factors like pollution and UV rays can damage skin, leaving your complexion looking dull and tired. One of the best ways to help draw out the buildup of impurities, like dirt, pollution, and dead skin cells, on the skin is to use a clarifying face mask. Look for one that’s formulated with charcoal, like the L’Oréal Paris Pure-Clay Detox and Brighten Face Mask, which can help reduce the appearance of dull skin and even out skin tone. Immediately, skin looks brighter and has a glow. To use, apply an even layer onto clean, dry skin, leave it on for 10-15 minutes, then rinse off thoroughly with lukewarm water. Use three times a week for best results.

Moisturizer is a crucial step in any skin care routine, no matter what time of year it is. With that said, winter is the perfect time to up your hydration game by switching to a moisturizer formulated for extra dry skin. When skin becomes extra dry, it has a very fragile moisture barrier that can be easily damaged by external factors such as pollution and UV rays. Skin consequently loses its ability to retain moisture, becoming easily dehydrated and feeling tight and uncomfortable. Look for a moisturizer that’s formulated with hyaluronic acid, like the L’Oréal Paris Hydra Genius Daily Liquid Care for Extra Dry Skin. This moisturizer, which is also formulated with aloe vera water, immediately has skin feeling comfortable, soothed, and nourished with moisture.
It might seem counterintuitive to use a face scrub on dry skin, especially during the winter, but gentle exfoliation will buff away dull, dead skin cells and also allow your moisturizer to work more effectively. Use a face scrub that’s gentle and also nourishing, like the L’Oréal Paris Pure-Sugar Nourish & Soften Cocoa Scrub, which is formulated with three types of sugar, finely crushed cocoa, luxurious coconut oil, and rich cocoa butter. It effectively removes dirt, oil, and impurities from the surface of skin and gently polishes away the appearance of dullness. To use, smooth a small amount of the face scrub onto clean, dry skin using dry fingers. Massage the face scrub over your face with wet fingers, then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. Bonus: You can also use this face scrub on your lips!

New year, new skin care routine, right? If you’ve been thinking about adding an anti-aging skin care product or two to your skin care routine, but aren’t sure where to start, consider cica cream. The L’Oréal Paris RevitaLift Cicacream Face Moisturizer Pro Retinol & Centella Asiatica is a lightweight, protective cream formulated with Pro Retinol and centella asiatica. Applied to clean skin in the morning and at night, it will help skin to feel softer and smoother and also diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles with continued use over time.
As we said before, keeping skin healthy and looking its best during the wintertime is all about keeping it hydrated. One of the best ways to keep your complexion moisturized is with an oil-infused, all-over balm, like the L'Oréal Paris Age Perfect Hydra Nutrition Manuka Honey All Over Balm – Face/Neck/Chest/Hands. If you’re wondering “what is manuka honey?”, it’s time to familiarize yourself with the powerfully soothing ingredient and consider adding it to your regular skin care routine. The best part about this balm is that it, as the name implies, can also be used to keep your neck, chest, and hands hydrated. To use, smooth an even layer onto clean, dry skin in the morning and evening.
Who says you can’t rock golden color in the dead of winter? Keeping a subtle, bronzed-glow all year round is all about adding a self-tanner to your skin care routine (not heading for a tanning bed!). Even better, using self-tanner can also be another way to help keep your skin moisturized! Find a formula that provides hydration and buildable color (you don’t want to end up looking orange!), like the L'Oréal Paris Sublime Bronze Hydrating Self-Tanning Milk Medium.
Follow these steps for using any type of self-tanner:
Step 1: Prep. Cleanse and exfoliate skin.
Step 2: Apply. Smooth a light-layer of self-tanner lotion onto clean skin. Use sparingly around your ankles, knees, and elbows.
Step 3: Wait. Let skin dry before putting on clothes.
Step 4: Repeat. Use daily until you reach your desired level of tan, then apply one to two times a week to help maintain your color.
Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean you should skimp on sun protection! You should apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher every day—regardless of the time of year. If you’re always running out the door, look for a moisturizer formulated with broad-spectrum sunscreen, like the L’Oréal Paris RevitaLift Bright Reveal Brightening Day Moisturizer SPF 30.
Of course, wearing a broad-spectrum sunscreen (or moisturizer with SPF) isn’t the only sun protection measure you should take each and every day. Oh no, your sun protection routine shouldn’t stop there. Additionally, you should limit your amount of time in the sun (especially between 10 AM and 2 PM, which are the sun’s peak hours), seek shade, and cover up exposed areas in long sleeves, pants, a broad-brimmed hat, and UV-blocking sunglasses.

We’re pretty big fans of moisturizers—as you may have already guessed—and there’s another kind we want to end our list with, and that’d be a moisturizer that's specifically designated for nighttime use. Since you don't have to worry about finding a moisturizer that absorbs quickly and doesn't leave behind shine, you're free to really load up on moisture at night. Night cream is kept on your skin while you sleep to help with hydration. Basically, it’s the ultimate way to get beauty sleep!
The L'Oréal Paris Age Perfect Hydra Nutrition Manuka Honey Night Balm is a luxurious, hydrating balm moisturizer that melts into skin for incredible nourishing comfort. Immediately, skin's moisture levels surge and skin feels more supple. Every evening, after cleansing, apply the balm to your skin before going to bed.
And there you have it! These are officially our favorite skin care products to use during the winter months. Still, a good winter skin care routine can contain more than beauty products. Adding a humidifier to your bedroom is another amazing way to take care of your skin during the coldest time of year, as a humidifier can help add moisture back into the air.
