Despite your best efforts, you may find that you are being a little extra hard on your skin these days. Whether it’s dryness, oiliness, dullness or some typical signs of skin aging like fine lines everyone seems to have their own set of skin concerns that will soon become an everyday bother. The best skin care routine is one that is tailored to your needs; but there are a few general tweaks that anyone can make to give their daily skin care regimen a boost. Consider freshening up your skin care routine by making a few simple changes Dr. Rocio Rivera: Scientific Communications Director, L'Oréal Expert Paris suggests.

Skin care routine tweak #1: Cleanse your skin with glycolic acid in the AM. Some may want to skip a morning cleanse, but most really should consider washing their face when they wake, in addition to before going to bed. Sweat and oil can build up on the surface of your skin while you sleep. A cleanser formulated with glycolic acid gently exfoliates dullness and visibly reveals radiance. Dr Rivera recommends to “Try using RevitaLift® Bright Reveal Brightening Daily Scrub Cleanser that is formulated with glycolic acid to reveal fresher, more radiant skin.” She adds that over time, your skin tone will look more even and renewed, while feeling smoother and more refined.

Skin care routine tweak #2: Moisturize while your skin is still damp. You should always moisturize after cleansing, but how soon after can make a notable difference. Try to avoid washing your face and then brushing your teeth or making coffee – instead immediately moisturize while your skin is still damp so that you can better lock in the added moisture.

Skin care routine tweak #3: Opt for beauty products formulated with SPF. Wearing SPF with broad spectrum protection is an essential part to any skin care routine – not to mention the best anti-aging skin care routine. The sun’s harmful rays can wear down the integrity of your skin and cause it to wrinkle, sag and develop age spots prematurely. An easy way to ensure your face is covered is to look for beauty products formulated with sun protection. You can look for a day lotion like Age Perfect® Hydra Nutrition SPF30 Lotion or a skin smoother like RevitaLift® Miracle Blur. Equipped with broad spectrum protection and Opti-Blur Technology, Miracle Blur helps protect against harmful UV rays and diffuses light on skin for a soft-focus blurring effect. “Simply apply it as your last step in your skin care regimen or wear it alone on cleansed skin to defend against future signs of skin aging,” advises Dr. Rivera.

care routine tweak #4: Encourage a natural-looking glow. Glowing skin can brighten your appearance and help dull skin appear more radiant. That being said, naturally tanning your skin can lead to some common signs of skin aging. Instead, consider looking to self-tanning products to get a bronzed glow that looks natural. Look for a product that will stay put until you are ready to wash it away like Sublime Bronze™ Summer Express Wash-Off Face Bronzer Cream SPF 20, “ This formula with Golden Pearl combined with Vitamin E will provide all day hydration,” says Dr. Rivera. “Your skin will have an immediately glamorous and natural-looking sun kissed glow, without having to incur the damaging effects of the sun.” It also contains SPF broad spectrum protection to defend against UVA and UVB rays. The non-comedogenic formula has a lightweight so it can be worn under make up – or on its own – and then easily washed off with a facial cleanser. “This makes it ideal for providing all skin types, including sensitive skin, and anyone who would like an all-day instant summer glow.”

Skin care routine tweak #6: Treat skin to a clay mask. At the end of a busy day, you’re tired and most likely so is your skin. Your skin encounters daily stressors, just as you endure stressful situations. Dr. Rivera adds, “Our skin is faced with many environmental stressors throughout the day, like air pollutants and dust, so it is important to remove dirt from your skin at the end of the day to ensure proper, healthy looking skin.” So, indulge yourself and your skin by applying a clay mask for five to ten minutes at the end of your day two to three times a week. There are detoxifying, purifying and exfoliating Pure Clay Mask options perfect for any skin type and skin care need.

If you think your skin care routine could use some freshening up make a few simple tweaks and you may find that the small changes you made are worth keeping as a part of your regular skin care regimen.
