How to Transition Your Makeup Routine from Winter to Spring How to Transition Your Makeup Routine from Winter to Spring How to Transition Your Makeup Routine from Winter to Spring

Warmer weather is just around the bend, which means it’s time for a little spring cleaning—well, when it comes to your makeup bag at least. Take a peek at the products you use most often—because it’s time for a fresh springtime overhaul. Put away the dark eye shadow and nude lipstick you favored during the winter and go ahead and play with color. Here are seven ways to totally change up your makeup routine for spring 2017.

1. Try a Coral or Pink-Toned Blush

There’s nothing quite like a pretty pink flush to instantly transform your face. After all, a rosy tone is a signifier of youth. Use the L'Oréal Paris Infallible Paints Blush palette, which comes with four shades. You can easily customize your look by blending a couple of them together. Dust the blush onto the apples of your cheeks (remember to smile!) and build until you reach your desired level of color.

2. Perk up Your Peepers with Pastel Eye Shadows

We love a neutral smoky eye as much as the next girl, but when flowers are blooming and the sun is shining, why not add some of those gorgeous colors to your everyday look? Try the L'Oréal Paris Infallible Paints Eye Shadow in Shady Violet, L'Oréal Paris Infallible Paints Eye Shadow in Aqua Aura, L'Oréal Paris Infallible 24 HR Eye Shadow in Always Pearly Pink or L'Oréal Paris Infallible 24 HR Eye Shadow in Eternal Sunshine to create a statement look.

3. Switch Up Your Lip Color

Spring is a great time to rock bold color on your lips. Think: super-bright shades in an array of matte and gloss finishes. Try the L'Oréal Paris Infallible Paints/Lip in Fearless Fuchsia or create a custom shade using the L'Oréal Paris Colour Riche La Palette Lip in Pink or L'Oréal Paris Colour Riche La Palette Lip in Plum.

4. Start Off Every Makeup Look with Primer

If you’ve been skipping out on primer, it’s time to make using it a priority! The L'Oréal Paris Studio Secrets™ Professional Magic Perfecting Base helps smooth lines, hide pores, and banish imperfections for a matte (a.k.a. non-shiny) finish. After you’re done moisturizing, apply the primer dot by dot and blend it in a gentle circular motion over your face or to targeted areas (under your eyes to smooth over fine lines, your nose and cheeks to minimize the appearance of pores, and your T-zone to help reduce the look of shiny skin).

5. Reach for a Lighter Foundation

As the temperatures begin to rise, you may feel like your winter foundation is a tad too heavy. You don’t have to go makeup-free if you don’t want to, though! Just reach for a buildable, luminous-finish foundation, like the L'Oréal Paris True Match™ Lumi Cushion Foundation, which is available in 12 shades. Tap the applicator onto the cushion and apply the foundation, continuing until you build to your desired level of coverage.

6. Get Glow-y

Now that the sun is shining and everything seems sparkly and renewed, it only makes sense that you’d want your face to reflect that. Apply a liquid highlighter, like the L'Oréal Paris True Match™ Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator to the tops of your cheekbones, or mix a little bit into your foundation for subtle shimmer. It’s available in three shades: golden, ice, and rose.

7. Embrace Colorful Liquid Liner—and Mascara

Most of us tend to stick to black eyeliner and mascara year-round, but if there was ever a right time to really play with fun colors, it would be spring. With just a swipe along your upper or lower lash line and a coat of mascara, you’ll be able to create instantly eye-popping appeal. To get the look, pair the L'Oréal Paris Infallible Paints Eyeliner in Electric Blue with the L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Original Mascara in Cobalt Blue.
