Let’s be honest—when it comes to makeup, we often spend more time dreaming of ways to expand our makeup bags than we do brainstorming ways to make our makeup vanity Instagram-worthy. But lately, we can’t help but see (and get inspired by) stunning vanity after stunning vanity popping up on our social media feeds. From creative makeup brush holder ideas to spotlight mirrors, there are so many DIY makeup vanity decorating ideas to try (and use as a seriously trendy backdrop for that next makeup look selfie). Keep reading for a few of our favorites!
Want DIY makeup vanity decoration ideas to try? We’ve got you covered! Keep reading for our best tips to beautify your makeup vanity.
One of the easiest ways to personalize your makeup vanity is to add some wall art! You can make your own DIY wall art with the help of a few fake lashes. Follow the steps below for a totally chic piece.
What you’ll need:
Picture frame of your choice
Hot glue gun
Step #1: Create your art. Let’s get crafty! Take a piece of cardstock and cut it to be the same measurements as your picture frame. Then, grab your fake lashes and position them in parallel lines on the cardstock. Use a couple of lash sets that have different intensities to personalize your wall art. Once you have your lashes placed, hot glue away!
Step #2: Put a frame on it. Now that your work of art is complete, it’s time to grab your picture frame! Gently slip your lash art into the frame and your glamorous wall art is ready to be displayed!
You don’t have to create a DIY makeup vanity from scratch—or even buy a new set of drawers and tabletop to create one. You can simply revamp the desk or vanity you already have. Think the top is a little boring? There are multiple ways to transform it. A few of our favorites (that are also super easy) are using fabric and resin, tile, or a stencil!
How you display your makeup brushes plays a big role in how cute—not to mention functional—your makeup vanity is. Add a touch of personality to your set-up with a DIY makeup brush holder! You can get a number of ideas in our article, 21 Makeup Brush Holder Ideas.
Your brushes aren’t the only thing worthy of displaying—so are your makeup products! Pile your most eye-catching lipsticks onto a tiered cake stand for a quick and easy DIY makeup product display.
While your vanity may already have a mirror, it doesn’t hurt to deck it out. Consider one of the following options for decorating your mirror:
Personalized Mirror Option #1: Create a flower border. Give your mirror a flower border with the help of fake flowers. You can find realistic-looking ones at your local craft store. For a permanent fix, grab your hot glue gun. For more temporary decor, a bit of tape will do the trick!
Personalized Mirror Option #2: Bring out the wall decals. Wall decals don’t have to be saved for walls! You can use them to personalize the glass portion of your mirror—just make sure to place them around the edges so they won’t block your view when it’s time to do your makeup!
Personalized Mirror Option #3: Drape white lights. While the holidays may be behind us, white lights don’t have to be! You can use them to add some glitz to your makeup vanity mirror by draping them around the frame. Bonus: you’ll have even better lighting to work with!
A spotlight mirror is likely what comes to mind when you think of an old school, glamorous makeup vanity. You can get one to attach to a table, lean against the wall, or a smaller one that stands on its own. This is also ideal if you want seriously selfie-worthy lighting.
A little greenery can make such a big difference! If you don’t have a green thumb, grab some fake plants to decorate your vanity.
Antique everything is seriously trending when it comes to home decor. We personally love the idea of placing an antique mirror on top of your vanity and leaning it against the wall for a totally vintage look.
Small shelves can be used to add some style to your makeup vanity. Place them on the wall surrounding your vanity and fill them with cute decor and your prettiest beauty products (the L’Oréal Paris Paradise Enchanted Scented Eyeshadow Palette is perfect for this).
Place a jewelry plate on your makeup vanity to display jewelry or your favorite makeup products. Easy, peasy!
Add some ambiance to your makeup vanity with a deliciously scented candle.
