Fall is officially here—and you know what that means: It’s time to get your Halloween costume in order! This year, there are plenty of trendy ideas to inspire you—and we’ve got you covered with super-fun Halloween makeup ideas that’ll have you standing out from every witch and cat in the crowd. Keep reading for three fabulous Halloween makeup looks—unicorn Halloween makeup, mermaid Halloween makeup, and pop art makeup—along with step-by-step instructions for creating each one.
You’ve likely seen unicorn makeup just about everywhere recently—so it makes sense that it’d be one of the most popular Halloween makeup choices for 2020. Create a mythical unicorn makeup look by following the steps below.
Step 1: Highlight. Swipe the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Galaxy Stick in Cosmic Pink across your cheekbones, down the bridge of your nose, just above your cupid’s bow, and a smidge on your jawline to get your unicorn Halloween makeup off to a glowing start.
Step 2: Create your unicorn lids. Coat your lids with the L’Oréal Paris Brilliant Eyes Shimmer Liquid Eye Shadow Makeup in String of Pearls. Next, use the L’Oréal Paris Brilliant Eyes Shimmer Liquid Eye Shadow Makeup in Amethyst Quartz to add dimension to your crease. Gently blend the colors. Finish your lids off with a subtle highlight along your brow bone using the shade String of Pearls again.
Step 3: Double-line your upper lash line. Draw a thin line across your lids with the L’Oréal Paris Matte Signature Liquid Dip Eyeliner, Waterproof in Black, then draw a thick line using a teal liquid eyeliner right above it, flicking it out at the corner of your eye.
Step 4: Accentuate your lashes. Top off your statement unicorn eye makeup look with a coat of the L’Oréal Paris Bambi Eye Washable Mascara, Lasting Volume.
Step 5: Paint your pout. For a purple-hued unicorn-inspired lip, apply the L’Oréal Paris Rouge Signature Matte Lip Stain in I Rebel and top it off with a high-shine coordinating gloss, like the L’Oréal Paris Infallible 8 HR Pro Gloss in Undeniable Mauve.
Do you consider yourself a beach babe? Then hop on the mermaid bandwagon, and turn yourself into a mythical creature made up in gorgeous shades of blue. Here’s how to do mermaid Halloween makeup:
Step 1: Create your scales. Press a pair of fishnet stockings onto your forehead and apply the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Galaxy Stick in Astro Blue and the L’Oréal Paris Infallible 24 HR Eye Shadow in Endless Sea on top. Remove the fishnets to reveal a scale-like pattern. Do the same on your cheeks.
Step 2: Create your mermaid statement eye. Use the same blue Endless Sea shade to color your lid. Then, fill in your crease with a darker blue-green shade. After that, use the L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadow in Petite Perle to highlight your brow bone and inner corners of your eyes. To finish your eyeshadow, take a flat eyeshadow brush and apply Endless Sea along your lower lash line to add dimension to your under-eye.
Step 3: Add eyeliner. Line your upper lash line with the L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Liquid Eyeliner in Black and follow it up with a touch of teal.
Step 4: Apply blue mascara. Top it all off with a coat of the L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Original Washable Bold Eye Mascara in Cobalt.
Step 5: Finish with lipstick. Embrace ocean waves by applying a navy lipstick to your pout. Then, blot a teal shade in the center of your lips for an ocean ombré.
If you love comics and wish your life could fit into the pages of your favorite graphic novel, this pop art makeup tutorial is for you. Just don’t forget the bright yellow wig!
Step 1: Paint your pout. Fill in your lips with the L’Oréal Paris Rouge Signature Matte Lip Stain in Adored. Then, draw a line within the edges of your upper lip with a white liquid eyeliner and do so on the opposite side of your lower lip as well.
Step 2: Draw on a cat eye. Create a cat eye along your upper lash line using the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Flash Cat Eye Waterproof Brush Tip Liquid Eyeliner. Follow up with a coat of the L’Oréal Paris Unlimited Lash Lifting and Lengthening Washable Mascara.
Step 3: Bring your pop art eye makeup to life. Extend the line out past the inner corner of your eye using the L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadow in Noir Cest Noir. Then, line your lower lash line and create teardrop shapes under your eye. Fill them in using blue and yellow eyeliner for a colorful touch.
Step 4: Move on to your face makeup. Swipe the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Galaxy Stick in Galaxy Gold across your cheekbones, blending it in with your fingers. From there, use your black liquid eyeliner to draw a line in the same place that you’d normally contour the hollows of your cheeks. Then, draw another line along the edges of your jawbone, as well as down one side of the bridge of your nose. Draw your last black line in a small arch just under your lip to add prominence to your chin. Finally, use your white liquid eyeliner to draw polka dots between the black lines on your jawbone and cheekbone.
