Step 1: Prime Your Complexion

Whenever you’re putting in the effort to follow a step-by-step makeup tutorial, you better believe you’ll want it to go on smoothly. The best way to ensure your makeup applies easily and evenly is to use a makeup primer first. Use one with a radiant finish for an extra romantic touch.

Step 2: Create Your Base

Once your complexion looks and feels smooth as can be, it’s time to blend foundation into place. Reach for a radiant finish foundation to match your primer. Squeeze the foundation onto a makeup blender and stipple it into place for seamless application.

Step 3: Contour

Next up, contouring. First, start by sculpting the look of your cheekbones by swiping some bronzer onto the hollows of your cheeks. Use a fluffy contouring brush so that you can create a soft shadow that looks totally natural. Next, buff all of the bronzer out onto your hand to ensure that you won’t get it anywhere it’s not supposed to be. Swirl that same makeup brush into your highlighter palette to gently highlight your cheekbones for an eye-catching shimmer that still looks natural and romantic—not labored and caked on.

Step 4: Apply Blush

After contouring and highlighting, it’s time for blush. The key to using blush is to be light-handed with your application. To get the look, swirl a fluffy blush brush in your blush shade of choice and swipe the color from your cheeks up towards your temples for a romantic draped effect.

Step 5: Accentuate Your Eyes

Now that your face has the perfect romantic touch, it’s time to take a closer look at your eyes. To accent them, use a fluffy eye shadow brush to apply the second lightest color of your eye shadow palette to your entire lid. This will give all the other colors something to blend into so that you can avoid any chance of muddy blending. Next, use the second darkest shade to define your crease—just be sure to really buff it out so that the colors blend seamlessly into each other. To complete your eye shadow, use the lightest shade to highlight the center of your lid, under the tails of your eyebrows, and at the inner corners of your eyes. All that’s left is eyeliner and mascara. Add an ultra-thin kitten tip with liquid black eyeliner and a swipe or two mascara and your romantic statement eye makeup look is complete.

Step 6: Finish with Pink Lipstick

Last but not least, no romantic makeup look is complete without a pretty pink pout. Instead of going hot pink which can take away from the subdued femininity of the romantic makeup trend, opt for a creamy, subdued matte pink hue.

Step 7: Set Your Romantic Makeup Look

Now that your romantic makeup look is complete, it’s time to lock it into place. Dust on a loose setting face powder and you’re good to go.
