Playing with color doesn’t mean you have to use every color out there. In fact, one of the best ways to create a colorful makeup look is to choose a single color to focus on. Use the same shade for everything from your lip color to your eye makeup and you’ll be sure to catch everyone’s eyes. Think you want to embrace the monochromatic makeup trend? Read on to find out four ways to try monochromatic makeup.

Monochromatic Makeup Look #1: Blue Crush

There was a time when blue makeup was considered passé—but that’s no longer the case. If you were never quite ready to give up your love of ‘80s makeup, you can rejoice. Shades of blue are being spotted on lids, lashes, and cheekbones for a look that’s anything but dated.

Step 1: Apply foundation

Lay down a flawless base for your blue makeup using the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation and L’Oréal Paris Infallible Blend Artist Foundation Blender.

Step 2: Create a blue cat eye

You may be used to seeing black winged eyeliner but this look proves that isn’t the only option. Instead of reaching for your classic black pencil eyeliner, opt for the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Last Waterproof Pencil Eyeliner in Cobalt Blue. Once your blue eyeliner is in hand, follow our tips for the perfect cat eye.

Step 3: Coat lashes with blue mascara

Match your eyeliner to your mascara and give your lashes a couple of coats of the L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Original Mascara in Cobalt Blue.

Step 4: Use blue highlighter

You may be used to seeing highlighters in soft shades of champagne and pearlescent pink but nowadays they come in fun colors too. To take your look to the next level, apply the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Galaxy Stick in Astro Blue to the inner corners of your eyes and above your cheekbones.

Step 5: Set your makeup

Don’t forget to lock your look in place. A few spritzes of the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Spray & Set Makeup Extender Setting Spray and you’re good to go.

Monochromatic Makeup Look #2: Pretty in Pink

Monochromatic makeup looks can make a serious statement…or they can be totally understated—it’s up to you! If you prefer something a little subtler, try playing up your favorite features with lots of pink pigment.

Step 1: Apply BB cream

Start this wearable look off with a natural-looking layer of BB cream, like the L’Oréal Paris Magic By Studio Secrets Skin Beautifier BB Cream. Apply with a makeup blender, then move right along.

Step 2: Sweep on pink eye shadow

Brighten your eyes by dusting the L’Oréal Paris Infallible 24 HR Eye Shadow in Always Pearly Pink across your lids.

Step 3: Coat lashes

Every look needs mascara, this one included. Brush a coat of the L’Oréal Paris Voluminous X Fiber Mascara onto your lashes.

Step 4: Add pink blush

Mimic a natural flush by applying a soft pink blush to the apples of your cheeks. Try the L’Oréal Paris Visible Lift Color Lift Blush in Pink Lift for an illuminated look.

Step 5: Apply pink lipstick

Punch up your pout with a few swipes of the L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Shine Lipstick in Glazed Pink.

Monochromatic Makeup Look #3: Go for the Bronze

Good news, metallic makeup isn’t going anywhere. In fact, a bronzed makeup look is as on-trend as ever. So, give your matte makeup a break and focus on bronzing your face all-over.

Step 1: Apply tinted moisturizer

Kick things off with a highlighting tint, like the L’Oréal Paris True Match™ Lumi Glotion Natural Glow Enhancer, for an all-over glow.

Step 2: Use bronzer

You can’t be a bronzed goddess without bronzer, so don’t skip this step. Dip a fluffy brush into the L’Oréal Paris True Match™ Lumi Bronze It Bronzer and sweep it onto your temples, cheekbones, and jawline.

Step 3: Highlight key spots

To complement the bronzer you just applied, highlight the high points of your face with the L’Oréal Paris True Match™ Lumi Glow Amour Glow Boosting Drops in Golden Hour.

Step 4: Smudge bronze eye shadow onto lids

A bronze eye shadow is a must-have for every makeup collection since they’re suitable for any occasion. So, break yours out and smudge it along your upper lash line. Try the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Paints Metallics Eye Shadow in Brass Knuckles.

Step 5: Tightline

Create an “invisible eyeliner” effect by placing black eyeliner along your upper waterline—your lashes will look thicker!

Step 6: Coat lashes

To complete the full-lashed look, apply mascara.

Step 7: Finish with bronze lip gloss

Almost done! All you need now is a layer of bronze lip gloss on your lips.

Monochromatic Makeup Look #4: Burgundy Beauty

If you like to get even slightly adventurous with your lip color, you’ve probably rocked a burgundy lipstick on occasion. But have you dared to wear the sultry shade anywhere else? Now’s your chance to embrace burgundy lashes too!

Step 1: Conceal imperfections

Some days you don’t need to wear a full face of foundation, a little bit of concealer is enough. Cover any imperfections with the L’Oréal Paris True Match™ Super-Blendable Multi-Use Concealer.

Step 2: Set with face powder

Before getting to the burgundy portion of this look, set your concealer with a translucent face powder, like the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Sweep & Lock Loose Setting Face Powder

Step 3: Coat lashes with burgundy mascara

Branch out from your standard black mascara and apply the L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Original Volume Building Mascara in Deep Burgundy for a change. And be sure to coat your bottom lashes, too!

Step 4: Apply burgundy liquid lipstick

Wearing darker lipstick has one downside—it’s super obvious when it starts to wear away. That’s why it’s important to wear a long-lasting liquid lipstick, like the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro Matte Les Chocolats Scented Liquid Lipstick in 70% Yum.
