How to Wear Green Makeup and Green Hair for St. Patrick's Day How to Wear Green Makeup and Green Hair for St. Patrick's Day How to Wear Green Makeup and Green Hair for St. Patrick's Day

With tons of festivities to partake in on St. Patrick’s Day, it’s no wonder you want to get in on the shamrock-heavy holiday. And what better day to experiment with green makeup and a green hair color than St. Paddy’s Day? Green makeup and hair are also big beauty trends right now, so the Irish holiday is the perfect time to give the look a try for yourself. Of course, we understand if you’re a little intimidated when it comes to rocking this color—it can be quite bold, after all. But trust us: You can pull it off! Without further ado, allow us to introduce you to three of our favorite St. Patrick’s Day-inspired hair and makeup looks.

If you keep up with any of the latest hair color trends, then you’re no stranger to ombré hair or glitter. What looks like it would be a complicated runway-only ‘do is actually really simple to bring to life—without the help of a pro colorist. Sure, this colorful hairstyle fits the bill for St. Paddy’s Day, but as soon as you switch up the colors, you’ll quickly find that it’s also perfect for any occasion where you want to add a little extra sparkle to your mane. We love it for festival season! Here’s how to get the green and gold look for yourself.

What you’ll need:

Rat tail comb

L'Oréal Paris Colorista Hair Makeup 1-Day Color in Green

L'Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Clean Style Gel

L'Oréal Paris Colorista 1-Day Spray in Gold

Gold glitter

Get the look by following these simple steps:

Step 1: Color your hair

When it comes to coloring your hair green, it’s a good idea to use a wash-out hair dye or hair makeup so that you don’t have to sport a green hue for days after the holiday. Also, using these wash-out methods makes it easier to quickly correct any mistakes you make along the way. To apply your hair makeup, simply use your fingers and apply onto the lengths and ends of your hair, working section by section.

Step 2: Part your hair

Once you’ve colored your hair, use a rat tail comb to part your hair down the center or to the side—whichever you prefer.

Step 3: Apply hair gel

Using a dye brush, spread some of the hair gel onto your roots extending about an inch in every direction.

Step 4: Gild your roots

Now, it’s time to turn your roots gold. Using your gold hair color spray, spray a light dusting of the gilded hue onto your roots up and down your part, holding the can four to six inches away while you spray.

Step 5: Sprinkle on glitter

Before the spray completely dries, sprinkle gold glitter directly over the top of your roots to create your shimmering shamrock look.

We’re suckers for a smoky eye—and any chance we get to bring new colors into the picture, we’re game. Want to wear green and gold eye makeup like nobody’s business? Here’s how to do it!

What you’ll need:

L'Oréal Paris Unbelievabrow Longwear Waterproof Brow Gel

L'Oréal Paris Infallible Full Wear Concealer Waterproof, Full Coverage

Eye shadow primer

L'Oréal Paris Infallible 24 HR Eye Shadow in Iced Latte

L'Oréal Paris Infallible 24 HR Eye Shadow in Golden Emerald

L'Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Last Waterproof Pencil Eyeliner in Black

L'Oréal Paris Unlimited Lash Lifting and Lengthening Washable Mascara

Get the look by following these simple steps:

Step 1: Fill in your brows

Before diving directly into your green and gold eye makeup look, start off by framing your soon-to-be glam stare. First, fill in your brows, then dab on a tiny bit of concealer to help accentuate your brow shape while blending out any imperfections.

Step 2: Use an eye shadow primer

Apply an eye shadow primer onto your lids to help ensure that your smoky eye will go on smoothly and wear evenly.

Step 3: Start your smoky eye

Gently brush gold eye shadow onto your lid starting from your inner corners and working your way to the middle.

Step 4: Blend from the outside corner in

Next, use green eye shadow to trace the outside of your eye and blend it up past your crease for the appearance of a slightly elongated eye. Be sure to blend the green and gold where they meet to create a natural-looking fade rather than a harsh line of demarcation.

Step 5: Add color under your eyes

Using a small, tapered eyeshadow brush, apply a bit more of the green eye shadow to your lower lash line to fully tie your bold eye together.

Step 6: Create a wing

Now that you have a super dramatic eye shadow look, don’t stop there! To add extra definition to your eyes, outline your upper lash line with pencil eyeliner. Be sure to flick your line up at the end to create a gentle lift that can make your eyes appear more open.

Step 7: Top your look off with volumizing mascara

Apply a coat or two of mascara. Voila!

There’s no denying it: Green lips have been making a bold statement across runways. Sure, lining your lips with green might seem a tad intimidating, but why not take a risk?

What you’ll need:

L'Oréal Paris Pure-Sugar Nourish & Soften Face Scrub

Lip balm

Clear lip liner

Green lipstick

Get the look by following these simple steps:

Step 1: Exfoliate your lips

Do you want a patchy green lip look? We didn’t think so! Start things off right by sloughing dead skin cells off your lips using a lip scrub (or a face scrub that doubles as a lip scrub). This will help prep your pout for smooth lipstick application. Use a small amount and scrub gently in circular motions, then wipe off with a damp washcloth.

Step 2: Swipe on a lip balm

After scrubbing your pout, apply a hydrating lip balm.

Step 3: Line your lips with a clear lip liner

Lining around the perimeter of your lips with a clear wax lip liner can help prevent your color from bleeding outside the lines.

Step 4: Apply your green lipstick

It’s time for the main show. Get your green lipstick on. Talk about fierce!
