If you struggle with combination skin, you know just how frustrating it is to find a full-coverage makeup product that will both mattify your complexion and keep flakey patches hydrated. For me, this delicate balance has only been attainable through tinted moisturizer formulas, which is why I rely on them when my skin gets moody. These lightweight options work to keep the skin moisturized, all while absorbing excess shine in the T-Zone. So when the new L’Oréal Paris Skin Paradise Water-Infused Tinted Moisturizer landed in my mailbox just as the temperatures started to dip, my interest was piqued — I couldn’t wait to try.

The first thing about Skin Paradise that caught my attention was the fact that it’s infused with 70 percent water, which certainly makes it stand out amongst other tinted moisturizers. I also liked that it had soothing aloe vera and oil-zapping witch hazel, both of which would be key ingredients to help smooth out and calm my oily and dry combination complexion.

I pumped out a dime-sized amount onto the back of my hand and swirled it around with my fingers to warm up the product a bit before applying it onto my face after primer. Picking it up with my ring finger, I dotted it over my cheeks, down my nose and onto my chin and began blending it in with my fingertips. The consistency of Skin Paradise is extremely smooth and very lightweight. And while you can tell it’s formulated with a good amount of water — it didn’t feel watery on the skin.

After blending it out on my entire face, I decided to go for another dime-sized pump to add a second layer and achieve more coverage. Although I used two coats, it didn’t feel heavy on my skin even after I applied concealer and powder on top and the makeup I layered did not skip or smudge. Instead, everything (including my blush) sat seamlessly on my face and I had that glowy, Instagram makeup finish everyone yearns for these days.

Throughout the day I periodically checked out my makeup in the mirror, and noticed that my dry spots appeared even-toned and smooth, while my T-Zone remained matte. I didn’t feel the need to re-powder my face or add more concealer. My makeup looked natural and intact and my skin looked hydrated but not shiny.

My Verdict on Skin Paradise

Skin Paradise has easily become my go-to tinted moisturizer for the winter season thanks to its weightless finish and incredibly hydrating, yet naturally mattifying ingredients. It’s great for anyone who likes light-to-medium coverage, and buildable for those who prefer a full-coverage look. It also showed me that when it comes to tinted moisturizers my combo skin needs one with lots of water.
