You likely don’t want to wear a ton of makeup during the summer, as all that heat can make you seriously sweaty. But that doesn’t mean you necessarily want to go completely bare-faced. That’s why we’re sharing one of our favorite easy summer eye makeup looks. This eye makeup look features perfectly groomed eyebrows, shimmery rose gold eyeliner, and gorgeous warm eye shadow shades that are totally suited to the season. Keep reading for a step-by-step tutorial for this easy summer eye makeup look.
Before creating your summer eye makeup look, work your way through your skin care routine to create a flawless base for all of the makeup you’re about to apply. During the summer months, use a mattifying facial cleanser, like the L’Oréal Paris Pure-Clay Purify & Mattify Cleanser, then follow up with a mattifying moisturizer, like the L’Oréal Paris Hydra Genius Daily Liquid Care for Normal/Oily Skin. Finally, finish with a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher.
Next, apply a mattifying primer, like the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Lock Makeup Primer, all over your face to help create a smooth base for the rest of your makeup application. Then, use a mattifying foundation, like the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation, seamlessly blending it onto your face with the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Blend Artist Foundation Blender. Finally, dot a small amount of brightening concealer, like the L’Oréal Paris True Match™ Super-Blendable Multi-Use Concealer, underneath your eyes and to any other areas that you might want to disguise.
Now it’s time to work on your summer eye makeup look! To help ensure it applies smoothly and wears evenly throughout the day, start by dabbing on a small amount of eye shadow primer onto your upper lids. If you don’t have any eye makeup primer, you can use a teeny amount of foundation or concealer in a pinch.
An eye makeup look wouldn’t be complete without eyebrows that appear full. The key to achieving this is by using an eyebrow pencil, like the L’Oréal Paris Brow Stylist Definer Mechanical Pencil. Choose the shade that is closest to your natural eyebrow color, and start with clean, brushed eyebrows. Use the ultra-fine pencil tip to draw the outline of your eyebrow shape. Fill in the gap with light, feathered strokes. Comb up following your arch shape, using the soft blending brush for a more defined look.
Once you’re done filling in your eyebrows, you have one more step left to perfect the look of your eyebrows. Reach for the L’Oréal Paris Brow Stylist Brow Raiser Highlighter Duo, which has a matte eyebrow concealer on one end and a shimmery eyebrow highlighter on the other. Trace the concealer around the edges of your filled in eyebrows to define and sharpen your eyebrow shape. Then, apply the highlighter above and below your eyebrow arch, blending for a highlighted finish.
After your eyebrows are on point, move onto eye shadow. Take the L’Oréal Paris Paradise Enchanted Scented Eyeshadow Palette and dust shade #7 all over your lid. Follow up by applying shade #4 just in your crease. Voila! This warm eye shadow palette is perfect for creating summer eye makeup looks, just like this one.
A wing tip will never go out of style—it’s a classic makeup look for a reason. But this summer, put down your black eyeliner and opt for a more seasonally appropriate shade. We’re talking about rose gold! Rose gold is one of the most popular colors for accessories, hair color, and now makeup. Use the L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Liquid Eyeliner in Rose Gold, which has a long-lasting waterproof formula—making it a great option for summer. Shake the eyeliner well before each use. Glide the tip along your outer lash line, flicking it out at the corner. Press lightly to draw a thin line, and increase your pressure to create a thicker line.
Mascara will be the last step in this easy summer eye makeup tutorial—but before you get to that, make sure to apply a lash primer, like the L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara Primer/Base. This pink-tinted mascara primer helps create the appearance of thicker lashes and enhances mascara wear. Glide the brush from the base of your lashes to the tips, allowing the primer to dry before applying mascara on top.
Once your lash primer has dried, apply a volumizing mascara, like the L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Washable Mascara. Place the brush at the base of your lashes and gently sweep it up to the tip.
Let your eye makeup be the star of the show and keep your lips relatively neutral. Try the L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Shine Lipstick in Glossy Fawn.
Before hopping into bed, take all your makeup off. Sleeping in your makeup can lead to clogged pores, which can lead to breakouts. No thanks! Use a micellar water formulated to remove waterproof makeup, like the L’Oréal Paris Micellar Cleansing Water Complete Cleanser Waterproof – All Skin Types. Pour some of the micellar water onto a cotton pad and wipe the pad across your face. For eye makeup removal, hold the pad over closed eyes for a few seconds, then wipe away. You can follow up by using a wash-off facial cleanser if you feel like you need a deeper clean or go straight to applying moisturizer.
