There’s no denying it: Curly hair is stunning. And over the last couple of years, curly hair has taken its rightful place in the spotlight as a go-to beauty look. So, if you’re still using a whole bunch of heat tools to straighten your curly hair, you may want to reconsider—at least from time to time. It’s time to show off your spirals! Keep reading for our favorite heat-free curly hairstyles, including a chic curly braided top knot.
We’re starting with the simplest hair style on our list—but that doesn’t mean it isn’t positively beautiful. Air-drying your curls is the easiest way to show off your hair’s natural texture. When hair is damp, spritz on the L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle AIR DRY IT Wave Swept Spray, then hands off! Let your curls air dry to perfection.
Want to get your hair out of your face but still rock your natural curls? Then turn your attention to the curly braided top knot. Create a deep side part, then grab a section of hair near your part to start braiding. Split that section into three separate sections and French braid, adding in hair from your hairline. Once you reach your temple, switch to a traditional braiding technique until you reach the ends of your hair. After you’re done with the braid, take it and the rest of your hair together, making a ponytail. Secure the ponytail with a hair tie. Finally, wrap your ponytail into a top knot, pinning it in place. Use the L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray Strong Hold to help keep your look in place.
Braids look amazing when paired with texture—so try a fishtail braid on for size if you have curly hair. To start, spray a little hair texturizer, like the L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Boost It Air-Blown Texture Mist, onto towel-dried hair, then let your hair air dry. Once you’re ready to begin your fishtail braid, gather all of your hair to one side. Split your hair into two sections, then take a half-inch piece from one section and cross it over the other, then repeat from the other side, creating a herringbone pattern all the way down to the ends of your hair. Secure your fishtail braid with a clear elastic and you’re good to go.
The half-bun is one of our favorite hairstyles—it’s easy and cute! To make a half-bun on curly hair, all you have to do is take a small section of hair and loop it on top of your head to create your half-bun. Pin it in place for a messy-chic look that can’t be beat.
Give your standard ponytail a stylish upgrade with a bubble version on curly hair. Secure your hair into a high ponytail. Then, place a clear elastic about an inch below the first hair tie. You’ve just made your first bubble! Keep going until you reach the ends of your hair.
This hairstyle is fit for a princess—more specifically, one with curly hair. To start your messy braided crown, create a Dutch braid on one side of your hairline, going toward the nape of your neck. Once you reach about two inches behind your ear, switch to a regular braiding technique, braid to the ends of your hair, then secure with a mini elastic. Repeat this process on the other side of your hair. Tie your two braids together with a clear elastic, then gently tug at your braided crown to muss it up.
