Wedding attire is pretty classic. After all, white dresses and gorgeous updos are pretty much a tale as old as time. Now, when it comes to bridesmaids, there’s a bit more room to play around with dresses, makeup, and, our personal favorite, hairstyles. If you’re part of a loved one’s celebration, consider adding one of the following hairstyles to the agenda. Whether you have short hair, medium-length hair, or long hair, you’re sure to find a fun new way to style your hair just in time for wedding season. Here are three bridesmaid hairstyles to get on your radar. (We've got even more wedding hairstyles for medium hair right here.)
Where updos used to be ultra-smooth coifs, nowadays, especially when it comes to wedding season, it can be quite fun to play with texture. Alas, we have the messy low updo.
What you’ll need:
L’Oréal Paris EverPure Volume Shampoo
L’Oréal Paris EverPure Volume Conditioner
L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Boost It Air-Blown Texture Mist
Rat tail comb
L’Oréal Paris Elnett Precious Oil Satin Hairspray
Get the look by following these simple steps:
Step 1: Start with freshly washed and textured hair. As messy as this hairstyle may look, it’s important to start with freshly washed hair for your bestie’s big day. To achieve the lived-in texture necessary for this look, start by washing your hair with a volumizing shampoo and conditioner. After towel-drying your hair, spritz strands with a texturizing hair spray and rough dry your hair on the cool setting to avoid any frizz from forming.
Step 2: Back-comb your hair. To give your hair a little added height, use a rat tail comb to gently tease your roots under the top-most layer of hair when hair is brushed straight back across the crown, maintaining a side-part along the front-most portion of your head, leaving a two-inch section of hair out of the way to create your braid.
Step 3: Weave a braid. Using the two-inch section that’s still free, weave a loose braid that lays gracefully back from just behind your hairline to the base of where you’ll begin your low updo.
Step 4: Pull your hair into a low ponytail. Once your hair is pulled back, don’t worry about it looking perfect. In fact, try adding a little extra unruly volume by sticking the tail end of your rat tail comb into the hair at the crown of your head for a bigger, more beautiful hairstyle.
Step 5: Pin your updo. Now that your ponytail is tied off, it’s time to turn it into an updo. To get the look, simply pin your hair up around the base of your ponytail, paying no regard to it looking perfectly put together. In other words, the messier the better.
Step 6: Finish with hairspray. Once your hairdo looks perfectly imperfect, seal it in place with a quick spritz of hair spray. Not only will hair spray help lock your look in place, it will add enviable shine, too.
Wavy, lived-in texture is having a serious moment here in 2018, so why not to showcase it on your bestie’s big day?
L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle AIR DRY IT Wave Swept Spray
Step 1: Air dry your hair. After you shampoo and condition your strands in the shower, towel dry them and give them a good spritz of wave spray. To help accentuate your textured waves, scrunch from your ends up to your roots.
Step 2: Part your hair. Using your fingers—never a brush!—gently situate your hair into a middle or side part. You choose!
Step 3: Pin your face-framing waves back. To complete your ethereal hairdo, simply piece an inch or two section on each side of your part and pin them back behind your head. While you can certainly hide your bobby pins for a slightly more elegant look, don’t forget that visible pins are a major craze right now and will most certainly not take away from your overall look.
It’s no secret that we love a good updo –especially of the sort that have been dominating our social feeds lately. If you want to get your hair out of your face in a no-fuss way to let your makeup and accessories stand front and center, look no further than this super simple hairstyle.
L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle BOOST IT High Lift Creation Spray
L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray Extra Strong Hold Volume
Step 1: Texture your hair. After you hop out of the shower and towel dry your hair, spritz your locks with a texturizing hair spray before rough drying. Once hair is dry, give it a good back comb using a rat tail comb to enhance texture and volume.
Step 2: Pull your hair straight back. Skip the brush, and use your hands to pull your hair straight back, making sure not to pull too tight, effectively minimizing the look of your volume. Tie your hair off with a hair tie.
Step 3: Pin up your ends. Instead of working to create a messy looking updo, tightly coil your ends into a bun before gently roughing it up and pinning it into place to give it the same lived-in look as the crown of your head.
Step 4: Finish with hairspray. Seal your voluminous look with a touch of volumizing hair spray. Et voila—you’re officially wedding-ready.
