While you’re breaking out the broom and tackling spring cleaning, why not shape up your hair care routine, too? With so many hair care options out there these days, there’s never been a better time to test the waters with sulfate-free products if you’re interested. In fact, it turns out sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner are pretty popular these days. Below, learn what sulfates are and how to create a sulfate-free hair care routine.
If you don’t know what sulfates are, then chances are you may not have ever thought of switching to a system of hair care products without them. According to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), sulfates are commonly found in shampoos. They are a popular type of detergent that can produce a lathering effect to help remove dirt and debris from the hair.
If you’re interested in trying sulfate-free products, you’ve got plenty of options to choose from, depending on your hair type or needs! Below are our sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners.
L’Oréal Paris EverSleek Keratin Caring Shampoo and L’Oréal Paris EverSleek Keratin Caring Conditioner: The EverSleek Caring system gently cleanses and conditions chemically straightened hair.
L’Oréal Paris EverPure Moisture Shampoo and L’Oréal Paris EverPure Moisture Conditioner: The EverPure Sulfate-Free Color system gently cleanses and conditions dry hair with essential moisture.
L’Oréal Paris EverPure Volume Shampoo and L’Oréal Paris EverPure Volume Conditioner: The EverPure Volume system gently cleanses, conditions, and infuses fine, flat hair with body without weighing it down.
L’Oréal Paris EverPure Repair & Defend Shampoo and L’Oréal Paris EverPure Repair & Defend Conditioner: The EverPure Repair & Defend system gently cleanses and deeply conditions fragile hair as well as helps protect it from environmental damage and daily color aggressors.
L’Oréal Paris EverCreme Deep Nourish Shampoo and L’Oréal Paris EverCreme Deep Nourish Conditioner: The EverCreme Deep Nourish system gently cleanses and conditions dry, brittle hair, replenishing vital nourishment and deep moisture.
L’Oréal Paris EverPure Frizz-Defy Shampoo and L’Oréal Paris EverPure Frizz-Defy Conditioner: The EverPure Frizz-Defy system gently cleanses and deeply conditions frizz-prone hair for humidity and frizz control and manageability.
L’Oréal Paris EverPure Blonde Shampoo and L’Oréal Paris EverPure Blonde Conditioner: The EverPure Blonde System gently cleanses and conditions blonde hair, neutralizes brassiness, and hydrates over-processed hair.
L’Oréal Paris EverStrong Thickening Shampoo and L’Oréal Paris EverStrong Thickening Conditioner: The EverStrong Sulfate-Free Hair & Scalp system gently removes buildup for a purified scalp and moisturizes to soothe the scalp.
L’Oréal Paris EverCurl™ Hydra Charge Shampoo and L’Oréal Paris EverCurl™ Hydra Charge Conditioner quenches and softens, perfecting each curl’s shape without weighing them down.
Who says you need to use a separate shampoo and conditioner? Go ahead and try a cleansing balm, which has a whopping six benefits in one. Cleansing balm cleanses, conditions, treats, detangles, softens, and adds shine. Talk about a workhorse! The L’Oréal Paris EverCreme Cleansing Balm is formulated for dry, damaged hair, the L’Oréal Paris EverPure Cleansing Balm is formulated for colored hair, and the L’Oréal Paris EverCurl™ Cleansing Balm is formulated for curly hair.
Keep these tips handy when using sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner—and even if
1. Shower in lukewarm water. Super-hot H2O can strip your hair of essential oils, so turn down the dial and wash your hair in lukewarm temps instead.
2. Be gentle! There’s no need to aggressively rub shampoo and conditioner into your hair. Just gently massage your products in before rinsing out.
3. Blot your hair dry with a cotton T-shirt. It’s softer than a towel, so keep one on hand in your bathroom.
4. Avoid brushing wet hair. This is when your hair is at its most fragile, so put that brush away. Instead, spritz on a detangling spray and use a comb to gently undo any knots.
